Sacramento Signing Out (SMF)

So we came into the party back in January with a little hashtag seen as the #NP_Pledge. We had high hopes like many of the 16 other tribes to grow rapidly and get things moving here in Sacramento. We saw plenty of people come through, but just not all together and as frequently as we wanted to. With other tribes growing to 50-60-70 so quickly we stood around with smaller numbers, yes we had fun, we worked out, but we just were not growing. read more

PR’s All Around! (SMF)

First Wednesday of the the month means one thing for NP SMF: PR day! And the Tribe killed it with their workout this morning!
After our 1/2 mile warm up our workout consisted of 20 jumping jacks, 20 push ups, 20 sit ups and a sprint – repeated 4 times. Which was followed by some bear crawls & walking lunges. Since everyone blasted through their workout. Here are today’s results vs last month: read more

Some Sloopy Mooses (Meese) Crashers

Sloppy Moose. What the hell is that, right? A bunch of crazy runners who decided to invade our workout this morning. By invade, I mean crash…with welcome arms greeting them!

Today’s workout, while dodging event setter-uper’s for something going on at the Capitol, was a partner workout. 2 mins of alternating burpees, jump squats, then them more damn burpees. After each 2 min set was a 100m sprint, no big deal. Apparently our arms don’t look strong, so we did a 2 minute straight, set of tricep dips for funsies! The crazy co-leader Haley thought she’d take us on a .5 mile adventure, which ultimately ended up in more torture, STAIRS! A few flight of stairs, sweaty, and sassy, we took our obligatory pic and called it a day! read more

Health Happens Here! (SMF)

Because the city of Sacramento always has something going on and loves to close off streets where we meet, we had to move this Wednesday morning’s workout over a couple of blocks to the stairs between 14th and 15th and K Street. Once everyone arrived we went around the block for a quick warm-up before hitting the mean 3 tier stairs of a local Sacramento building. read more

Let’s Do Some Stairs…

Fooled ya!

Told you stairs, but we just wanted you to sweat a bit and see who would really show up! Tricks on us, because we had a newbie (Laura) ANNNND we had two kidlets show up!

The tribe didn’t waste any time getting down to business. Since the stairs were a joke, we did a ladder workout and postponed stairs for next week! Warm-up per the usu, our .2mi loop. From there it went 50-40-30-20-10, in between each set you ran the loop. Body weight lunges all the way to burpees, with walking lunges, mountain climbers, and pushups in between. The two kidlets of FitFam6 were killin’ it with each set and run! Love seeing them work hard with the tribe! read more

PR Wednesday

It’s the first Wednesday of the month so naturally we meet up at the Capitol building at 6:25am. Every first Wednesday we run the same workout for time. A series of exercises to get us moving along with the goal of being better than last month. After the hellos, high-fives, and hugs, we were off on the warm-up before the storm of a workout. With 2 short loops to make up a 1/2 mile warm-up around the front of the Capitol, we were ready to tackle PR Wednesday. PR Wednesday consist of 4 items: 20 jumping jacks, 20 push-ups, and 20 sit-ups followed by a quick out and back sprint. This series is completed 4 times for a total time. Today’s group started out strong but co-leader Chris basically kicked everyone’s asses without cheating (questionable since he wrote the write-up). Here are the numbers for today: Chris – 6:22 Katie – 7:33 Chris – 7:37 Cory – 7:53 Steph – 8:00 David – 8:23 Juan – 8:30 After the workout the group finished the day off with a 1-mile cool down around the Capitol Park & Building before starting the rest of the day. Meet us every Wednesday at 6:25AM in front of the West Steps of the Capitol, here is the address: California State Capitol , 1315 10th St, Sacramento, CA 95814 (West Steps are the steps facing the Tower Bridge). Make sure to help us spread the word via social media “like” us on Facebook and “follow” us on Twitter.  We also post some awesome photos and other things on our FB / Twitter to keep you guys involved during the week.

NP_SMF Is the Best Recovery Method Out There!

Don’t get us wrong, we are happy as clams to see our tribe show up. Let’s just say everyone was a little bruised and battered from the previous marathon weekend in San Francisco. Those of us who didn’t run, were just exhausted from all of their social media posts!

Although two of our fearless co-leaders ran the marathon, they showed up and (attempted) to kill the workout! Chris continues to be questionable, but his lack of actual squat jumps is remedied with his shit talking and laughter inducing randomness. read more

Blowing chalk

So today’s morning workout started off on a positive note when leaf blower guy decided to tell us that chalk was not allowed to be used to mark our workouts on the sidewalks. I think he is just bitter because we are getting fit and he is blowing dust. He stood there are tried to blow the chalk off the sidewalk with his leaf blower … end result … chalk won. read more

Stairs for Breakfast!

Rise and grind!

That was our motto this morning.  Since all the other tribes seem to have easy access to vast amounts of stairs, we’ve been suffering from stair envy. So we decided to remedy that this AM and it was also a perfect welcome experience for a newbie, Dianne. I think Dianne said a few lovely expletives after we told her the workout, especially since we coerced her into coming, over adult libations at our #NP_SMF social last week! We’re glad you came lady friend! read more

PR Wednesday (SMF)

Another day of new faces! Co-leader Stephanie recruited her friend Trinity AKA La Lucha (she is a roller derby badass). We missed Katie today, she didn’t give us a verbal so we’re not calling her out. Yesterday was her birthday though, so happy bday Katie!!

Today we started something new. Something Haley tried to do last week but no one payed attention to their numbers…so again, today we had a PR Wednesday. After a mile warm up around the Capitol our workout consisted of 20 jumping jacks, 20 push ups and 20 sit ups, then a short sprint. Repeat 3 times. Everyone pushed hard and we had a great workout. Even co-leader Chris participated in most of the workout. He was still his smart ass self, that won’t change. read more
