Well today we officially just grew in numbers, we knew that after the Fix50 construction which congested most of Sacramento and after the USATF Outdoor Championships last week, we would find a way to get more people out to join the Sacramento Tribe. Today we welcomed a number of new people and though the group in comparison to other tribes is still small we had a total of 13 people out today for the workout.
Now we got Shotputters! (SMF)
Okay the Fix50 nightmare is now fixed and people can resume with their weekly travels to NP_SMF …. umm not quite yet. As we arrived to our 6:25AM meeting spot for today’s workout, the sidewalks and certain lanes of the roads surrounding the State Capitol building were closed not due to construction or anything like that, but because of the USATF Championships going on in Sacramento starting Wednesday and running through this weekend. With most of the events being held at Hornet Stadium on the campus of CSU Sacramento, the shot-putters stage their event in front of the West Steps of the Capitol. We promise next week things should be back to normal and people can get in for their weekly Wednesday morning workouts without any issues.
We Sweat, We Banter, We Laugh (SMF)
When 6:25AM rolls around, the friendly faces of the Sacramento tribe begin to gather at the West Steps of the Capitol. Today, was no different with the unfriendly face of leaf blower guy who started the morning by blowing his machine at co-leader Haley as she was first to arrive to welcome members of the tribe. We asked him to join, but clearly he was too busy blowing the browned grass and dust around to workout with us. Nonetheless, the tribe gathered and the workout began.
Rise & Grind (SMF)
Happy Wednesday! As some people dread the mid-week day, here in Sacramento and across the country where there is a November Project tribe working out, we look forward to that morning alarm so we can get on our way. Today, was like all the other Wednesday mornings, we got up on our feet and were ready to grind it out on the West Steps of the Capitol in Downtown Sacramento.
Happy National Running Day (SMF)
It’s a common theme around the country, people running and being happy about it. What the F@#K is wrong with all these people? 🙂 Actually, we in Sacramento think everyday should be a happy running day! Today, was no different when it came to working out and having fun. The group gathered at the West Steps of the Capitol at 6:25AM, with all the co-leaders present. The last couple of weeks co-leader Chris was missing in action due to some lame excuse of being stranded somewhere. Nonetheless the awesome triple threat of Haley, Stephanie and Chris were present.
FIX50 is F’ing with our workouts
With the obstacle of a drive getting anywhere around Sacramento for another month with major construction on 3 major highways that connect into Sacramento, the tribe is forced to new and creative ways to bring people together. Even with the “FIX50” situation going on, one of the tribes members Chris was still able to bring along one of his friends who had to travel over 35 minutes just to get there. WELCOME BRAD!
The Tribe Is Awesome! (SMF)
Today was a special workout. We came together – all Tribes of November Project – and supported a friend from the November Project SD Tribe . Gray was worn today for brain cancer awareness, in honor of a tribe member’s mother. It is a pretty amazing feeling to come together as a community to show our support for our fellow tribes…we’ve haven’t met everyone, but we love you all & support the shit out of you all!
To the Capitol! (SMF)
It’s about to hit 100 degrees today, so the smarter individuals in the Sacramento area came out and worked out at 6:25AM this morning to beat the heat. Even with the 60 degree morning temperatures, the sweat started pouring early with the Sacramento tribe.
The group gathered in West Sacramento before crossing the Tower Bridge to make our way to the steps of the Capitol building in Sacramento, this run to the Capitol was our warm-up before we started our routine for the morning headed by co-leader Haley. The morning workout had us throwing down some burpees, lunges, jumping lunges and other body thrusting exercises before making our way back to the meet-up point at the River Walk in West Sacramento.
Getting Up and Flying (SMF)
Just another day in paradise, not quite. Today, was one of those special days when it comes to November Project Sacramento. We finally helped make the members of our tribe a little more official when we pulled out the stencils, spray paint and t-shirts. Members of our tribe got to do a little t-shirt tagging!
Morning Goosing (SMF)
Due to some lame excuse of freeway construction that is backing up traffic and causing for an added 40-60 minutes of commute time, co-leader Chris wasn’t in attendance for the second week. There our calling out of a co-leader.
Now to the good stuff … For the second week in a row NP_SMF met up at the River Walk in West Sacramento. Co-leader Haley got a new toy (a Garmin) and was eager to show it off to the group which created a stir. Apparently, the Sacramento Tribe is a bit on the geek side, but who isn’t. After the sharing of awesomeness, the real awesomeness got started.
