In the tulips

When a holiday Monday rolls around you can expect a couple things. The first might be the noticeably extra day that you may have to enjoy all your favourite things like a longer coffee chat or a midday sweat. Secondly, you may find yourself tackling more “projects” over the 3 day weekend, these so called “projects” can range from cleaning out your sock drawer to installing a compostable toilet. Finally, you can expect that there will be a workout to kick off your extra day for whatever purpose suits you. read more

Fast Times at NP High- Guest blog by Toby (YWG)

Today, we have a guest blog from Toby Bergmann. All 49 November Project cities are dropping guest blogs today, and we chose Toby for a few reasons. He is one of the few high school students that come to the workouts, and he shows up every single week. Also, he is fiercely competitive. Not many high school students will wake up at 5am to go do a workout before going to school, so we commend his commitment. read more

Don’t be sad, cuz sad spelt backwards is das, and das no good (YWG)

Wisconsin Notes:

  • Plogging recap
  • Today’s workout recap- legs on fire
  • It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later

Sunday, we did some spring cleaning around the Forks. The Forks has been NP Winnipeg’s meeting spot for over 5 years now and we decided to give a little bit of our time to give back to the place that means so much to us. Thank you to all of you that showed up and plogged around (and even brought your kids, which made my heart feel all mushy on the inside because kids are the best and basically the future of anything and everything!!) read more

Holiday Monday

H I P P P P P Y have a hippy hoppy day, H I P P P P Y hope you have a good day today. To be fair this bounce really didn’t make any sense when we practiced it but a solid effort was put forth by everyone this morning. Happy Monday. You may have had to work today, maybe you opted to work and saved your holiday day for another day. Or maybe you are basking in the plus 17 degree weather we are currently having out on a patio. Wherever you are we hope that this morning brought you more connections, more scavenger like inhibitions, more soakers, and more sore legs from the hill climbs. You might have been fortunate enough this morning to have a voice let you know where to find some of the hidden eggs. Maybe you found one egg and 7 letter R’s. We hope that you found it challenging to search in a quick fashion while the remainder of your team held a superhuman pose, a plank, some variation of a power-stance or a chair pose. read more

Flying like Jets (YWG)

  • Sunday April 14 – MEC race 1

  • April 26- Fridays start back up again
  • May 30th-Peg city scramble IV

Here’s a quick update about Winnipeg’s spring thus far: It’s April and it’s still snowing. It’s not enough snow to to create a blizzard or white out conditions..but do you know what will create white out conditions? THIS CITY! This city is fueled by passion and endless energy and that’s exactly what you all brought this morning! read more

Spring has sprung, let’s have some fun! (YWG)

Winnipeg notes:

  • Last Friday at Awesome Hot Yoga: April 12th
  • Stay tuned: Friday mornings will be coming back to the Ledge– date TBD
  • Five bucks for a new buff
  • Spring has sprung

Can it be true? Is it really spring time?  It just so happens that spring isn’t just a myth in Winnipeg. It’s really happening and it’s happening right now. The sun is out longer, snow piles are slowly melting, paths and parking lots are visible again and new obstacles of crusty piles of clumped ice mixed with snow and rocks covered in a sleek sheet of wet have been created. But the weather is getting warmer – it’s so warm out that this morning I saw so many of you peel your layers off to cool down and Mel even peel her layers off down to her t-shirt. read more

positively punctual (YWG)

Frosty crew of NPers enjoyed a beautiful sunrise this morning

Wisconsin notes:

  • PR Day
  • Buffs-$5, we still have many
  • Jody- Positively Punctual
  • Today- still cold, more -31 badges were handed out
  • D takes a break

Today was a frosty PR day (again). As Dom said at the beginning of the workout, you are all amazing and tough for showing up all winter long. It might still be a bit chilly out, but we are at the time of the year that the sun starts to rise half way through the workout, and it is a glorious feeling.

It was a tough day to PR, the ramps were slick and the temps were frigid, but those that did manage to hit a PR were treated to a November Project key chain tag (thanks to Yoga Steve from Buffalo). We’ve got more, so push yourself just a wee bit harder next time and you can earn yourself one. It was also -32 with the windchill this morning, so a few people got badges, including the newcomer, Ricky. We only have a dozen or so badges left, which means 200 different people have come to workouts that were -31 or colder over the last three winters. That’s pretty impressive.

We’ve still got quite a few buffs to sell. We ordered a good amount, as we normally sell out. Some cities pre sell theirs, and others will only allow one buff per person, but we have confidence in the group that the buffs will sell and we wanted to give people the option to buy several if they wanted more than one, so we just ordered a bunch and hoped that they’d sell. Tell your friends buffs are available, snap some pictures of yourself in the buff, sorry, in your buff, and tag #NPbuff. Where else can you get a really nice buff for five dollars? read more

HÉ HO! (YWG)

Winnipeg! Have you heard the news?! There’s a new BUFF in town and it’s hot off the press! We only have a limited amount, so show up and claim yours while supplies last. Bring 5$ cash next Wednesday or the NP special 2 for 10$! Don’t wait too long, we might be sold out.

This morning’s workout was inspired by Le Festival du Voyageur. This festival celebrates many of the good winter things that we Winnipeggers do and love and it also reminds and teaches us about the history of Winnipeg. So we started this morning’s workout with a Canadian Northwest Passage bounce and headed to the Beaufort Sea. read more

Record setting PR day (YWG)

Wisconsin Notes

  • -40C, -52 with windchill= new November Project Record for coldest workout ever
  • Jody is one cool cat- earning the Positivity Award
  • Pop Up workout this Friday morning at The Forks at 6:14 am
  • The Great Skate this Sunday at The Forks at 8am

Frosty D here, coming at ya with a blog and some pics from the coldest workout on record for all November Project cities, ever. I showed up early this morning to a very empty Forks area, and I had one of those moments where I thought to myself ‘Is this finally the day no one shows up? Is it too cold?’ That lasted for about a minute, and then people started rolling in. We are Winnipeg, so when we see windchill of -52, we just throw an extra layer on. Some things we saw today; ski goggles, Carhartt coveralls, layers on layers, frosty beards and frozen lashes, and Jon Hunt’s bare face. We had close to 40 people show up this morning, which is really cool but also madness.

Jody has been showing up for a couple years now, and she is at everything November Project. She recruits, and when her recruits have car trouble (frozen cars) and can’t make it to the workout, she goes out of her way to pick them up and make sure they get there. She wears grassroots, she encourages, she inspires, and she is fire on a frigid and frozen morning like today. Jody, we are glad you’re part of this family. read more
