You already read the breakdown of the stadium workout yesterday but what you didn’t get out of that post is the visual illustration of all the beautiful people that got out of their beds to collectively enjoy surreal emotion of sweating in 98% humidity while being cooled down by an inch of rainfall. Thanks to all who allowed us to post these amazing shots that can tell better story than 100 blog posts.
Cinco de Redtube
On May 5th two of our members took on The North Face Endurance Challenge at Bear Moutain, NY in the Marathon Relay event. These two Wisconsin natives, pretty cocky, and slightly intoxicated, signed up for this four person relay as a team of two while sharing one or more pitchers of beer one night at Kettle of Fish. Nick Van Sicklen and Brogan Graham went on to win the event in a time of 3:11 by taking turns at the 6.whatever mile loop that North Face gave 5 of 5 stars for elevation changes and overall difficulty. The rainfall the night before and into the morning had made much of the single track trail into an oncoming riverbed. Racing under the team name “Cinco de Redtube,” NVS and BG were very proud to have Dean “The UltramarathonMan” Karnazes hand them their gold medals.
Super Sunday 5 miler
On Super Bowl Sunday we decided to put months worth of training to a test and see how fast we can run 5 miles. Brogan killed it at 29:46.4 (5:58/mile pace) while Bojan ran respectable 33:53.9 (6:47/mile pace). After the event we enjoyed some Superbowl themed festivities and beers from 5 local breweries – 1 brewery for each mile of the race.
