The weather was not taken into account when today’s workout was created. Why? Cause we’re fucking #weatherproof, that’s why. This disclaimer let tribe members know they most definitely would be rolling around on the ground. The wet and muddy cement. And then the rain came. Onward. Being a partner workout, each tribe member picked a different partner for each segment. There were hoistees, Bojans, low 5 push-ups and plank jumps to warm it up. The workout: partner one ran stairs reps, while partner two did the beloved deck of cards. Sit ups in puddles were a crowd favorite. To cool down, a Reverse Sally, was deployed to reinforce form, “shoulders back, boobs out”. Unless you like to fall down, forward works better than reverse with Sally, we found this out the hard way. But what the hell, live and learn.
Hooligans n Shenanigans
Today Newbie Kate from Chicago found us, way to #justshowup! Leeza jumped to the top of the Recruiting Royalties leaderboard, boom. Newbie Jairo claimed his dark horse victory of Race Day; whom, by the way ladies, looks good in a cape. Who doesn’t look good in a cape? C’mon now. Brad returned from NPSF and graced us with his dance moves then effortlessly recruited two runners mid-workout. Nicely done today tribe, you make me proud.
Guest Blog from Michelle Mislan, NP Indy
Today in Indy, Lori showed up after working 14+ hours yesterday, the leader had another sleepless night (#everytuesdaynozzz), Heather made her newbie debut and Michelle…well…
Michelle Mislan bikes uphill both ways in a blizzard to #justshowup each week. Wait, what? Really? No. But seriously she drives 20 miles (from Greenwood, Indy peeps), even in the snowpocolypse, even when the mayor shuts down the city, to meet her tribe at the Bell Tower each week. She then showers at and her place of employment and #onward with her day. When she has early morning work meetings, she can be found running the Bell Tower steps before any tribe member has arrived, even her leader! #leadernowfeelslikeaslacker. Michelle’s dedication and positivity embody the November Project spirit. And she gives really good hugs. Hips in, y’all! Without further ado, I give you our first guest blog from NP Indy, Michelle Mislan.
Cupcakes for Breakfast (Indy)
We had our first NP Indy birthday celebration planned for today. Then the birthday girl got sick and bailed on her verbal. Michelle, we missed you today and we ate your cupcakes. Yay! Cupcakes for breakfast!
In other news, Indy has experienced all four weather seasons in the last 48 hours. Sunny and 70s yesterday, fog and 40s at 5am today, rain and falling temps at go time this morning and 33 and snowing currently. Futurecast forcast is calling for another snowpocolypse in the next 6 hours, prompting schools to start on a delay or close entirely. Wait, what? Closing school before the first flake even falls? That’s just not okay. I know there are #weatherproof people in this great city. And you should #justshowup. Come show Indy you don’t have to hibernate anymore.
And then there were four (Indy)
Today was a special day. Today the #power10 became the #turbo15! Congrats all you crazy yahoos! Fifteen November Project tribes working it out across North America, fuck yeah! This. Is. World. Takeover.
No longer is NP Indy the youngest tribe, but perhaps the smallest of the #turbo15, not for lack of trying. See our We Missed You post.
Spring Tease
Our spring tease abruptly ended this week and artic temps returned to strengthen our resolve and #weatherproof-ness. Thus we embraced our frozen tundra once again. At least our stairs were properly thawed! Our head photographer was out of commission today, so you’re left with my sorry paparazzo attempt—go easy on me please. We tagged some #grassrootsgear and rocked our Race Day workout.
A message from Canada
To our Amercian tribe,
Today was a glorious day for Canada and thus, for the World. Our wonderful homeland altered alcohol consumption laws overnight, ignored labor laws to keep our establishments open and switched Church to Monday so that we could watch the men’s final hockey game as a nation united at 5AM Mountain Standard Time. Roads and beds were empty, people choosing instead to stand in line outside the bars at 4AM in -30 degrees Celsius to get a good seat or congregating as tribes at each others homes consuming copious amounts of pure maple syrup, Tim Hortons coffee and beaver bacon.
Ice Ice Baby
Whaddaydo when your steps are frozen solid? Like 3 inches of ice solid? You tear a page outta the Mothership’s playbook and do a Deck Day workout nearby. Members blindly followed the fearless leader to a snowy meadow where we did a dynamic warm-up, followed by cross country snowy sprints and the ever lovable Deck of Cards—which were labeled to avoid any confusion. We were joined by our favorite local Russian and a Butler University Newbie! Woot, woot! Our official November Project stencil made its debut (fuck yeah!) and we made some peeps happy with some #grassrootgear to sport ‘round the Circle City. Wednesday is our favorite day of the week! We look forward you seeing your sweaty, smiling face every Wednesday 6:25 AM at the Butler Bell Tower! Stay in touch on facebook and twitter @Nov_ProjectIND ’til then.
Retro Indy by BG
When I write a blog post you can tell it’s me speaking to you. How can you tell? Well, the Serbian has a better vocabulary in the English language, this we know, he usually uses the spell check feature before posting, this too we know. So how can you truly tell that BG is the one writing the blog post? Well, other than the small type that says, “By Brogan,” you can tell by how fast I move through the business and get into the meat of the story. But before we go there, just a quick birthday shoutout to our second oldest tribe. Happy First Birthday, MSN!
Snow And Steady
BOSTON NOTES:
by Bojan
So it snowed. A lot. All over the stairs and seats. But that didn’t stop us from doing the workout. Are we insane? Weeeeelllll, those shirtless boys sure are dropping our chances of arguing against the affirmative answer. Are we reckless? Absolutely not! On days like today safety is our number one priority. Number two is having fun. Everyone did a very good job on staying safe. Everyone had a lot of fun. Today was a great day!
