Post-Summit HYPE (and more) in DCA

500 people. On the top of a ski slope. In the middle of summer. Yelling. Cheering. Smiling. Hugging. Think Braveheart but only some painted faces and way more smiling. All there to celebrate my birthday. No? That’s not what that was for?

The setting is Ontario and despite many airlines’ best efforts, a few hundred November Project members made their way on plane, train, and dog sled to the Blue Mountains up in Canada to meet each other, race, and generally get hyped about a movement that’s taking over the world. Sounds great, eh? If you missed this year’s #NPSUMMIT, don’t worry November Project Canada took TONS of photos. It takes place once a year and they JUST KEEP GETTING BETTER. When we know the dates and locations of next year’s #NPSUMMIT, you’ll be the first to know. read more

MONDAY’S WORKOUT: CHECK THE TRACKER (DCA)

Things we learned today (Wisconsin Notes):

  • Monday’s workout will be special and at a different than normal location, read below.
  • We condone the use of helmets while riding bicycles, read below.
  • Chasing waterfalls is more fun that you think.
  • Weekends get seriously earned every Friday with November Project DC.

MONDAY, JULY 4TH: We are meeting at HERE. There will be teams involved and your knowledge may be tested. Make sure EVERYONE knows what’s happening. Your friends that come to NP. Your friends that don’t come to NP. People that say they have to be at work early so they can’t come to NP. The random runner you high five at the corner when you’re both waiting for the light to change and then you recruit them to NP. And yes, the link takes you to the tracker. You should sign in and use the tracker every week. The locations are ALWAYS posted on the tracker. read more

DC on GMA and the #NP_Primaries (DCA)

A LOT is about to go down this week at November Project DC (specifically this WEDNESDAY) ergo, here’s a full list of things to which you should pay attention.

Things to bring on WED:

  1. Your #GrassrootsGear.
  2.  Your friends, coworkers, and neighbor’s dog’s cousin’s owner. Need tips on how to recruit? Watch here.

What’s so important about these two things? Keep reading.

GOOD MORNING AMERICA. Yes. The morning TV show where they interview celebrities and talk about the newest food crazes. This WEDNESDAY, they’re talking about US. They’re talking about YOU. They’re COMING TO DC TO FILM YOU AND MAKE YOU FAMOUS. What you need to know: read more

Your People Are There (DCA)

I’m very proud to bring you today’s guest blog post. I’m partially biased (I asked her to marry me, she said yes) but it’s got some info that EVERYONE could afford to hear. As for your regular announcements, they’ll be at the end, after you finish reading this. Read it. Share it: read more

Thanks to November Project… (DCA)

FRIDAY we are back @ Lincoln. There WILL be a 5:30 & 6:30 group. Come get historical and invite EVERYONE. HYPE TO THE WORLD #JustShowUp.

Today’s blog post comes from afar. Someone that has trained with us week after week and now her proximity to DC (or lack thereof) doesn’t permit MWF attendance. She was a core smiling face among the many and ALWAYS pushed herself to new heights. She continues to do so in the distant land of Alabama. Ladies and gents, Claire: read more

The Group Is There (DCA)

YOUR ANNOUNCEMENTS ARE AT THE BOTTOM. Today’s guest blogger doesn’t need much introduction (but I’m going to anyway). If you’ve been to a MWF with us, chances are she’s gotten to know you, high-fived you, or at minimum given you a big bear hug. A positivity award winner (for good reason), she’s constantly out in the community at DC bike party parties, WithLoveDC yoga events, or tribe member organized Saturday bike rides, ALWAYS with a giant smile on her face. Her laugh floats above others, her love for this community always evident and her selfless, quirky, don’t care attitude are something to strive for. This past weekend, she toughed it out in some mud at TNF ECS DC (missed it this year? Start planning for next year) for the marathon. Without further ado, KAMI: read more

Tips And Tricks (DCA)

Tips and tricks for enjoying November Project:

1. SHOW UP: You kind of have to be there to experience it. Sure, looking at the badass pictures at 9:30AM when you stroll into work late because you just couldn’t get out of bed is fun but your life will be EXPONENTIALLY better if you follow through with that alarm you set. We want to see your shining face just as much as the other couple hundred faces. read more

TWO (DCA)

Before we get into the actual blog, check the tracker for the meet location on FRIDAY. We’ll see you for some less popular (and not poplar) cherry blossoms.

Today’s guest blogger doesn’t need much of an introduction. If you blink, she’ll already have passed you. If you show up, she’s there to hug you. If you read the following, you’ll understand why we continue to do what we do. read more

Next HW Assignment: #JustShowUp (DCA)

Ok, I lied in the FB post. We won’t discuss what Wednesdays would be without November Project. That would be sad (and any other synonym of the word). Instead, we’ll hear from our reporter in the field. Christine, take it away:

When I arrived to Washington, DC at The Catholic University of America, I was 18 years old and very excited to be on my own after being raised by two very strict parents.  I began pulling all-nighters, drinking excessively, weeping after pole-vault practice, and saying “I’m good” on autopilot as people continually asked “How are you?”  I was unhappy and on the verge of transferring school’s because I felt overwhelmed with the constant need to be involved and didn’t exactly admire the city after my belongings were stolen from me at Union Station.  Instead, I ended up quitting the women’s track team because I didn’t feel apart of a unified team as I did in high school. A team that holds each other accountable and encourages each other to be better.  It wasn’t until junior year (November 2014) where I discovered 200+ people running up and down the Lincoln Memorial during a bike ride with my NP buddy, Kara.  This is where I truly began to appreciate everything DC has to offer. read more

The Jake Lloyd Finding My Crazy People Project (DCA)

There’s so many good things to say about this week’s guest blogger. Passionate is one word that comes to mind. But instead of listening to me ramble, listen to this man:

It’s getting late. Really late.

It’s Tuesday, Oct. 27 around midnight, and I’m sitting at an otherwise vacated table at Walter’s Sports Bar in the Petworth neighborhood of DC. My friends just said their goodbyes, calling it a night as Game 1 of the World Series has dragged into the 12th inning. There are just four other people, strangers, in the watering hole. But there’s no way I’m leaving a World Series game before its conclusion. I’m a sports nut. read more
