The Introduction of the (Half) Sebastian

Oh, you know…just another day in the Polar Vortex. Rumor has it that we might get above freezing this weekend. Good thing we got warmer than San Diego on a cold day. That’s right San Diego, be jealous.

In a brisk 8 degrees F (-13C for our Canadian neighbors), we raced it out this morning and just when you thought we were done, we hit up a half Sebastian. If you don’t know what it is, it’s pretty simple. Named after a badass Boston tribe member and lover of burpees, a full Sebastian is 7 minutes of burpees non-stop. So a half Sebastian is only 3.5 minutes. Our tribe killed it out there this morning and we’re very proud to call you all #Weatherproof…especially the newbies showing up in fierce conditions. read more

The Polar (Bear) Vortex

So Ma Nature and I may have had a fight. She may have been spiteful and decided to throw another polar vortex in our faces. It’s a rocky relationship. She’s just so hot and cold sometimes. But I won’t let her get us down. We’ve embraced this polar vortex 2.0. We channeled our inner kids today and played in the snow; running, crawling, and squatting like polar bears. Due to the snowy steps, we did some intermediate snow jogging (soft J) and incorporated some BOSTON tribe love into the mix with some Bojan’s. It was cold. But we’re #Weatherproof. read more

NP Works Out Just a Hop, Skip, and a Jump Squat Away…

…from you and the U.S. Capitol Building. This morning we #CircledUp at Garfield Circle, just in front of the Capitol and the west lawn was just too enticing. Quick sprint warm-up and then an ass-kicking circuit workout left us huffing and puffing and saying Fuck Yeah. For those that showed up, congrats…consider your #WeekendEarned. For those that didn’t, you’re missing out. We’ll see you all Wednesday at Lincoln. The tribe is real. The tribe is strong. The tribe is real strong. read more

Earning Weekends

Here in DC, we’ve been trying to convince everyone that we’re weatherproof. In all honesty, we must give the credit to Ma Nature. She’s been helping us out by providing the hairiest of situations. Today, She threw us another curveball. But guess what, world?! Guess what, DC?! We are effing weatherproof and you can’t stop us. read more

Cold? What Cold?

Ok, so I won’t complain about how we feel like we’re with our sister tribe in Edmonton or our water bottles are freezing while we work out.

But, I will talk about how badass our members are. Even in this frigid weather we continue to have newbies come out to build our community. These people aren’t bred for or used to this type of weather at all. We live in the Mid-Atlantic, not Canada! But don’t worry. We’re crazy, fun-loving, sunrise-loving, rise-and-shining, hugging, badass people and we want as many people to join us as possible. In fact, we love  it so much that we want to see you all Friday at this location. Columbus Circle outside Union Station, Friday, 6:30am. read more

Hoisties and Racing

DC Notes: 12/18/2013

Another great day in the non-state of DC. If you thought today was cold, just remember that our neighbors to the north are working out in -15C. Good thing a little chill and ice didn’t stop our tribe from racing it out today. First person to 18 Lincoln Logs ended the workout. Congrats to Abbie Attwood for the win! What’s the catch? Every few minutes you needed to find a partner and do 5 hoisties (brought to you by our Madison counterpart). We continue to make new friends and now we’ll know their names with our #MugShots album coming out! If you missed your opportunity to get into our yearbook, you’ll have another opportunity in about a month. We love you all and we hope you have a great holiday! Keep on being weird DC! read more
