This week Jesse is out biking on the Aids Life Cycle that goes from San Francisco to Los Angeles. He’s riding along with countless other November Project folks and badass cyclists and with a quick turn of events, I had to be out of town during Global Running Day. To say that I had FOMO from this morning’s events would be an understatement. Not only that, but I was beyond proud of the amazing babysitters and tribe to come together, rock the trails, and crush it on a Wednesday morning. Here’s a little bit from Aari about the morning.
Oh oh oh it’s MAGIC (LAX)
So of course being in LaLaLand you expect to see movie stars walking down the street every day. Or maybe just every other day. Well, today we actually had HARRY POTTER WORKING OUT WITH US!

As we all know, the most magical way to start the weekend is with some blood, sweat, and tears. Ok, maybe just sweat and cheers. But anyways, the morning kicked off with a good ‘ol bounce to Harry Potter Puppet Pals (talk about a throwback) and then it was off to the races around Barnsdall. Kira, our lovely co-leader for the morning, and I had a blast putting this together and coming up with countless wizarding words and excellent exercises.
May Gray PR Day (LAX)
PR day was great. Another one in the books and for some reason another misty morning for Southern California. It seems as though June Gloom was overeager and decided to arrive for a good portion of May. Well, looks like we can prove that we are at least in some bit #weatherproof. Just kidding, I’m sure that I’ll get plenty of flack for that from other tribes who have to deal with actually cold temperatures and the natural elements like wind, rain, snow, sleet, etc. etc.
Why Do You Show Up?
So, we’re getting a bit sappy today in LA. Please stick with me on this.
Why did you show up and why do you continue to show up? Whether it’s your first time at November Project or 50th or 100th and beyond, what makes you come back again and again? Is it the workout or the smiles or the people? One of my favorite things about this community is the fact that I am able to get to know so many new individuals. I love asking this question and genuinely care about the answers you provide. Maybe it’s because you read it online or saw an Instagram post (yay for #content) or maybe your friend had been talking your ear off and you thought you would check it out. Maybe you want to train for a race or maybe you’re lonely in your city and wanted to make some new friends. Maybe because you love giving out high fives as you run stairs or feel the infectious energy from the people around you.
Sebastians + Know Your Tribe (Logan Eastman)
Burnouts lately have been included as more of an extra surprise rather than a given at each and every workout. Don’t worry, it’s not like we forgot that they exist. But folks seem to think we have forgotten them and we’ve gotten plenty of requests lately. Maybe it’s so they can reserve some energy during the workout or maybe something to look forward to. Now, I’m all for a good burnout, but I also hope that we are all leaving it out there and during the workout and if there does happen to be a little extra spice, it’s just twice as nice. 😉
Fishing for the 90’s

What a rocking group of people, don’t you agree? Yearbook picture day was all that and a bag of chips as folks arrived in some pretty fly outfits, played a few rounds of Go Fish, and posed for the camera. We got to “Jump Around” and sure, some of the “Random Rules” threw folks but after a few hands, y’all got the hang of it and it ended up “Alright”.
Skipping Yipee + Know Your Tribe (Ricky Watson)
My oh my what a morning. Hills were crushed, Joel received the Positivity Award, Nevil thought it was picture day (he was only two days early), Ron saved a lovely couple from having to pay for parking, we announced Summit and the fun that will be had in Wisconsin, and we had a few random folks join our 5:27 photo.
Short, Sweet & Rock Your Body Right
It’s May. Hooray! So much to be excited for even though the month of hills has ended. Despite the fog (no, not smog) sitting out over Los Angeles, this morning was lit. Do folks say that anymore? Probably not but let’s just roll with it.
Wednesday was wonderful but Friday should be even better because it’s BATTLE OF THE BABYSITTERS ROUND #1 (5/4 at Santa Monica Beach)
#APRHILL PR DAY + Know Your Tribe (Laura Traferro Florio)
First off, a BIG CONGRATS to Westside Wednesdays becoming November Project West LA this morning. Y’all have been doing an amazing job on the west side and we are excited to see what the future holds for this great city of Los Angeles. More love for Southern California 🙂
Secondly, sadly this is the second to last time I’ll be able to use #APRHILL as a title starter but soon it will be May and life moves on. Another PR day in the books and what a glorious morning it was. Plenty of humidity, lots of hills, some mosquitoes here and there, and the return of the POSITIVITY AWARD!!! Yes, the PA has been a little MIA and no, we hadn’t lost it or forgotten about it. If you were there this morning, you heard the story. If not, well that’s why you need to #justshowup to get in on what’s happening. But really, we had missed handing this out to members of the tribe and were so thrilled to be able to hand this new portion of an oar over to Kira, one of the many rockstars that shows up week after week with energy, creativity, a positive attitude, and an amazing work ethic.
It’s Friday the 13th and the Hills are ALIVE!

I typically don’t think too much about Friday the 13th and really, this post won’t dive into superstitions or anything. I just was thinking about being sneaky while Jesse was away and having everyone run repeats and count them for TeamKait. But I’m a nice person and didn’t want any extra weird juju going down with it being the 13th and everything. Let me be honest, it seemed unfair to tip the scales that much.
