#APRHILLS Week 2 + Know Your Tribe (Will Aguila)

Well it’s week two of #APRHILLS and everyone is still crushing it out there.

Current score totals:

  • 422 – Team Kait
  • 398 – Team Mess

Team Kait still holds the lead but I’m going to need some folks on my team to start dropping those verbals again!  Let’s get a little recruiting going on! 🙂   Team Mess came out in full force for 6:30 and racked up a total of 72 hills!  I wasn’t sure if he was joking or not but sure enough, they had the numbers to back it up.  As a reminder, anyone that you recruit to NP, automatically is on your team (**IF** you have already been to APRHILLS and have been assigned a team). read more

Foggy #APRHILLS + Know Your Tribe (Kira Roxie Butler)

So it seems that a little friendly competition brings out the best in people or at least some excellent energy.  Thankfully no one ran off the side of the mountain this morning as we were dealing with a case of Karl the Fog’s cousin.  But anyways, today we started our #APRHILL challenge and split each of the groups (5:30 and 6:30) into Team Kait and Team Mess.  IT.WAS.AWESOME.  Especially when we got into the thematic music and well, blue was just rocking it. read more

LAX PR DAY 2.0

What a day what a day.  This morning we ran the new PR course for the second time and I have to say, it was an awesome sight to see so many people throwing up high fives and throwing down those burpees.  Excellent job to all the folks who ran the new PR course.  If it was your first day, YOU get a PR.  If you ran an additional section in comparison to last month, YOU get a PR.  If you were out there today running and pumping out those burpees, well that’s a PR as well.  What really matters is that you showed up, pushed yourself and pushed those around you and that we call an excellent morning in Los Angeles. read more

LAM Pre-Race Vibes + Know Your Tribe (Ellie Harte + Ashley Nemeth)

First off, good luck to all of the folks who are running this weekend!  Whether it’s a few miles or oh a casual 26.2, go get it!  I have to say that race weekends, especially large races like the Los Angeles Marathon are some of my favorites.  It’s something about the excitement, anticipation, and yes, even nerves.  People coming together to test their limits and for some, try something new (but please nothing new on race day).  Just think, you have put in the training, the weeks of long runs and midweek runs, the stretching and hopefully hydrating.  Sunday is your day to let it all come together and it’s your day to shine. read more

Magic at MacArthur + Know Your Tribe (Luke Lombardi)

Oh the places we will go and people we will meet.  This morning we took a leap and tested out a new LA spot by venturing out to MacArthur Park to run and play.  Part of November Project is about putting assumptions aside and trying something new, having fun, chatting with someone you may not have known before, and overall exploring.  Just like life, it’s trial and error and well, who would have known there was a full on playground and soccer turf next(ish) to Downtown LA? read more

Angelenos Test out this “Weatherproof” Concept

Wisconsin notes: LAX may not be 100% weatherproof (we’re a work in progress) but we like to have fun while we work out and have a sick 90’s summer hits playlist.

It’s true that Los Angeles has it pretty nice during the so called winter months.  Sure we have a few days of chill where it dips into the 40’s (or gasp 30’s) but for the most part it’s all sunshine and rainbows.  But come on Los Angeles.  Today was OUR day to show the world that we were weatherproof… Yeah ok moving on. read more

It’s going down, I’m yelling PR DAY

So tomorrow is March and that means we’ve practically finished two months in 2018.  But there’s no time like the present to change things up and hit the restart button.  How about a brand-spanking new PR Day course?  Sure, running a 5k is oh so fun but how about hills?  Well, thanks to our home base at Griffith Observatory, we are blessed with so many hills and that’s what this morning called for. read more

The Return of Barnsdall

Yes indeed, Barnsdall is back and what a morning it was.  Turns out Google is wrong and the park does open before 6am.  In fact, it should open around 5 (or 5:15 when the gate opens) and viola, even our 5:30 crew could get in on the fun.  We galavanted around Frank Lloyd Wright’s creations and threw in a few sets of stairs because everyone is reminiscing about the days in the Hollywood Bowl. read more

After the Rain Comes a Rainbow (LAX)

So technically we missed the whole rainbow thing since the deluge ended yesterday BUT there was an epic sunrise and that counts for something. If you didn’t happen to be present at the workout between 6:30a and 7:30a you missed out.

Disclaimer, I have to give a shoutout to our awesome 5:30a crew who crushes when it’s practically pitch dark, but they don’t get the privilege of seeing the Los Angeles landscape light up during these winter months.  So for their sake, I’m going to keep it short and throw in some jaw dropping shots of the morning. read more

Holiday Cheer in La La Land

It’s true, we Angelenos don’t have to deal with -20F temperatures or freak snow storms but that doesn’t mean that we don’t put in the winter work.  This morning we enjoyed an epic sunrise along with some sweaty miles, doses of burpees, side shuffles, and bear crawls.  We even braved the 50F temperature (check out our Instagram for the evidence) #weatherspoof #content read more
