Major Leagues (ORL)

It’s World Series week. November Project Orlando has one co-leader who was born a Red Sox fan, and the other is a recent transplant to the City Beautiful from the City of Angels. Clearly, we were having a baseball team challenge as this weeks workout.

We led off with a special rendition of ‘Take me out to the Ballgame’ and promptly divided into two teams. The Dodgers and The Red Sox first got their October Homework out of the way by knocking 74 jumping jack-o-lanterns straight out of the park! Then they headed full speed to first base where they executed 10 postseason partner pushups. There was no slowing down at second when 20 bench jumps were cleared. As they rounded third, they completed 30 starting ab rotations. To earn that run for their team, they ran a full lap. Hitting for they cycle got each team member a point. read more

Thunderstruck (ORL)

Hurricane Michael was knocking on Florida’s door this Wednesday morning. It brought some serious devastation to some areas in the Sunshine State, but brought just a welcomed breeze to our weekly workout in Orlando.

Luckily, our tribe was ready to bring the devastation to this weeks burpees, squat jumps and kick-sits. We started the day with an extra long, extra exhilarating bounce provided by #angelface 🤨. After a brief conversation about the name of our warm up, we moved right into ‘indigenous people sprints’, where we grouped up and ran in single file lines, with the person at the end sprinting to become the leader. A nice, medium PR Day loop and we were eager to move into the days workout. read more

Pumpkin spice and everything nice (ORL)

October in Orlando, where the Wednesday morning temp dipped into the upper 70s, and people ages 8-81 showed up to experience something special. Even our traverballer, Vance from NP LAX, commented on the crispness in the air. A strong and spicy bounce got us warmed up enough to move directly into the day’s work. The tribe got to spend a little one on one with each other as they paired up for a play on Rock Paper Scissors. Instead of an object, they threw out a number 0 to 5, added the two numbers up and then completed a predetermined exercise for that sum. Find a new friend, play again. Connections were made over the next 40 minutes through handholding in hoistees, push-up high 5s and friendly conversation while running down to the dock by the lake at sunrise. That’s what makes this and every Wednesday so special. It’s about getting up early-not only to be the best you can be, but to make that personal connection with someone else who has the same affinity for free fitness and good feels. All of that good energy was just enough to get us through a special kind of burnout- Baby Shark. I’m not sure if everyone’s abs were burning from the exercise or the laughter…either way, it worked! Oh yeah, and then there were donuts. Because, besides positive vibes, pumpkin spices are the nicest.

    hARRRd work (ORL)

How does November Project Orlando know that they are pirates? They think, therefore they Arrrr!

This crew had all hands on deck Wednesday morning, as they warmed up with a bounce so fierce, it would have the spirit of Davy Jones shaking in his boots. Then, the scallywags were divided into two teams and given a few minutes to get reacquainted with their shipmates and come up with a team name. Team Castaways and Team Wilson were given the location of two treasure boxes where they would find booty in different denominations. They would then race back to cash in that booty on the mainland. The tariffs they paid ranged from raising A-hoysties to Row your Boats and Pirate Partner Pushups to the dreaded Blackbeard’s Burpees! Those who were putting in the most effort were rewarded with special jewels. Team Castaways was declared the winner in the end, but only by one peg leg and only because Dyani ran out of jewels. Because, honestly, you all #crushedit this week! read more

    It’s not personal (ORL)

Setting a personal record means achieving an individual best performance in a given sporting event. Maybe it’s running your fastest 10k, or busting out 60 burpees during a Sebastian burnout. But, how do most of us continue to set new PR’s? It’s with the support and encouragement of our family, friends, race cheer stations, and high fives from someone you just met, bounced with, and gave a sweaty hug to. Showing up on PR day in Orlando is more than how many burpees and laps you can do. Though, if you’re like Joie or Alain, you show up and totally annihilate those June PRs.

PR Day is about showing up before the sun, in 1000% humidity, because you are excited to high five that person you made a connection with last Wednesday, or maybe you had a rough beginning to your week, but you know that every single person that will be there is not only there for their personal best, but also to push you to do the same.

So, whether you achieved a PR amount of burpees/laps or not, I hope that when you ran through that tunnel you felt accomplished. Because there’s so much more than individual effort that goes into a ‘personal record’.

    Best of the Beasts (ORL)

Many of our group members saw on social media that we were bringing back the Beastmaker ladder workout, and they still showed up! These people are animals!!

Kelly & Michelle made their debut with NP Orlando, and we got right into some vocal exercises, meaning we got the bounce going with some primal roars. That got us amped up enough to tear right into the main workout. We worked our way up the ladder from 5 to 10, 15, even 20 beastmakers, and the fiercest of all worked their way right back down that ladder. If you’re wondering what exactly makes a beast, here’s the formula: burpee+push-up+side plank+push-up+side plank+push-up=1 beastmaker. 40 minutes of that, mixed in with a little down time of running and squats, and these beasts were feeling fantastic! If that wasn’t enough, we brought out the absolute best in these beasts with a hardCORE plank jack/push-up burnout to the Foo Fighters “Best of You”. It was a brutally positive Wednesday morning, as always. Oh, are you wondering how Kelly & Michelle did? Well, They are Survivors. It’s not always easy showing up and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Thanks to everyone for really working hard this morning. I saw a lot of serious effort being put in, all accompanied by that gorgeous sunrise. We hope you show up again and make November Project your uncomfortably comfortable zone. 🙃

There’s only Uno Ray Bazzi. (ORL)

I arrived to greet the sunrise just after 6am. Before long, our early morning runners started to make their way to our meeting place. One sweaty hug after another, and before I knew it, I too was drenched in a mixture of varying odors of perspiration. (Side note-I went home after the workout and hugged my bf, keeping to myself that the sweat I was covered in was not only my own, but from dozens of others! *evil laugh-that’s what he gets for never #justshowingup.)

On to the workout- #Angelface got the group going with a slightly awkward, but motivational bounce. The warmup, workout, and burnout proved to be no less awkward. We started by removing our right shoes and throwing them in a pile. We then had a race where our fearless group had to HOP to find their own dirty, stinky shoe from the pile, then SKIP and JUMP back to the starting line. Dawn was the clear winner, finding her neon colored shoe, and finding herself halfway through the skipping, while the rest of the group was still trying to find their footwear. Ray put forth an always strong effort, until he got too excited and forgot about the long jump portion of the race. More about Ray later….

The workout was a game of Uno where everyone partnered up, drew a couple of cards, and performed exercises corresponding to those cards-who loves oil-rigs??!!! Switch partners, repeat. That brought us to the burnout, where we attempted a hardCORE planking version of the ‘Cha Cha Slide’. Despite it being our first attempt at such a coordinated routine, and our lack of speaker power, we Cha Cha-ed to the right and left, and laughed about it all the while. Solid work this morning everyone!

I would now love to introduce Ray Bazzi to the rest of the World. Ray has held our Positivity Award for a while now. While his enthusiasm certainly warrants him a long stay as the PA holder, we have so many others in our group who deserve to have this high NP honor bestowed upon them. It is time to pass the Oar.

    World, meet Ray Bazzi:

I am a proud father of two amazing kids.   I came to the US from Lebanon to go to school and fell in love with what this country stood for:  Freedom, opportunity and the welcoming attitude for all cultures! I had a passion for learning, so after finishing my undergraduate at UF with a BS in Engineering, I decided to get my MBA at UCF. That’s when I decided to make Orlando my new home!

I found out that I was passionate about Technology and growing businesses, so I started a technology business here in Orlando while going to school at UCF.  The company grew, and I was fortunate to benefit from the economic growth in Central Florida.

If I have to sum up who Ray Bazzi is, I can say he’s into family, community, helping people. I am so excited to do the things I love to do such as exercising, coaching, parenting, hanging out with the people I love especially my NPO friends!  I strive to be self-aware. I’m grateful of my strengths, and spend time improving myself to be a better human being, father and friend.

I am so grateful for November project for putting me in contact with some of the most amazing people who are there for me and will be there for me if I need them!

    Ray

Thanks Ray, we’re so glad you’re here!

A positively hard working tribe! (ORL)

Angel and I rode the positivity wave all the way from Cali to Orlando this week. It was obvious that our energy transferred to the tribe, as they dove right in to getting their brains and bodies moving with basic math problems and burpees. Lots of burpees. Followed by even more burpees, courtesy of Roxanne. The tribe crushed every one of them, with smiles and high 5s! Our two newest tribe members, Julio and Katie, both got an A+ for bringing their best to Baldwin Park-we loved your energy!

We hope you all continue with the mantra of ‘eliminate the negative, accentuate the positive’ forever and ever! Connecting with community in a happy, healthy, and safe way is why we all show up every Wednesday. This tribe and this whole movement bring me so much joy! Thanks for showing up, having fun, and not complaining too much about all of those burpees 😁😘

    Olé, olé, olé, olé! (ORL)

The tribe showed up with goals this morning! We got things kicked off with a little soccer hand ball; 3 teams got into circles and held a squat while trying to score in between someone’s legs. Yeah, I know, I set myself right up for that one.

Everyone seemed to have a ball with this warm up, but we had bigger and badder exercises to juggle. We went man-to-man with hoistEes and pushups, and side shuffled our way into some squats and bicycle kick crunches. Jumping jacks kept our heart rates high, and we decided to throw-in some Bulgarian split squats for extra fun!

That circuit was run until regulation time ran out, and a celebratory tunnel led into stoppage time.

The kicker today was bound to feel like some sort of well deserved penalty. Forget Ronaldo, Roxanne never disappoints. I mean, who doesn’t love a burpee burnout, really? 👇🏼

Thanks tribe, for showing up and kicking grass.
