Birthdays with cupcakes are just the best [MTL]

WISCONSIN NOTES:

  • Jeremy is back and was my guest co-lead for this week
  • It was Heather’s birthday today and we celebrated it with cupcakes 🙂
  • Next week: babysitters will take care of you all
  • Golden Square Mile is SOLD OUT… but let us know if you need a spot

This morning was just awesome!!! Jeremy was back from a two-week hiatus to join me to co-lead the weekly workout. He made us sweat! To top it all off, he even brought his shoes to use as markers so that we could do the workout in an orderly fashion. What a champ! Thanks Jeremy for your time and your kindness. We are eternally grateful. read more

Ole! Ole! Ole! [MTL]

Wisconsin notes:

  • Quite a hot one today. Heat wave takes over Montréal but nothing could stop us from #justshowingup.
  • World Cup themed workout today – Thanks Laurent!!!
  • Save the date: August 12th 2018

Damn…was it ever hot and humid today. I can’t believe how the temperature in Montréal could fluctuate from -40C degrees in the dead of winter to +40C and sunny in July. As we discussed this morning, we might complain now that it is too hot….but just remember how cold it was last December/January when our fingers and toes almost broke off. I’ll take the heat any day over the finger-freezing frigid temps we get in winter….and I think most of us would too. GO HUMIDITY!!! read more

Diversity and inclusion [MTL]

“It is time for parents to teach young people early on that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength.”
— Maya Angelou

As I sit here to write this week’s blog post, the only thing that really comes to mind this morning is how perfect the Montreal November Project tribe is. It never fails to amaze me how diverse we are. We have people from different backgrounds and from different parts of the world meeting in a single spot weekly to spend just about an hour together – if we don’t count the hour for coffee after the workout 🙂 Our rich diversity at NP Montréal makes us beautiful and strong. This is why I choose to talk about diversity and inclusion this week and what we believe in at November Project Montréal. read more

Hypothermia dance [MTL]

Wisconsin Notes

  • Hypothermia dance brought to us by Jake.
  • Yearbook pictures were taken this week. Keep an eye out…they’ll be published soon
  • Save the date: Sunday August 12th 2018 – Don’t miss out

On this final week as a co-lead of this awesome movement we call November Project Montréal, Jake was nice enough to teach us a few easy moves to help us fight off Hypothermia! Yes Hypothermia in *almost* summer. For those that do not know, hypothermia is a medical emergency that occurs when your body loses heat faster than it can produce heat, causing a dangerously low body temperature. Normal body temperature is around 37 C. Hypothermia occurs as your body temperature falls below 35 C. Considering it was over 20 C and we were working out at the stadium, the timing was a bit off … but we had a blast learning the moves anyway. Seeing all of you hopping around trying not to screw up the steps was so much fun. Something we will never forget. We will surely keep it in our arsenal of warmup drills come the winter months. read more

NP and me – Guest blog [MTL]

Guest Blog by Jacob Grover

Yesterday evening NP and lululemon co-hosted a run in Montreal visiting all different murals throughout the city. Someone I just met asked me how long I have been a part of November Project. I smiled at them and knew the answer right away: “Since the beginning”. That is the beginning of the Montreal tribe beginning as Project Sweat Montreal and later evolving into the beautiful NP Montreal. I thought back to all the people I’ve met, hugged, highfived, sweat with, ran with, burpeed with. I couldn’t help but smile at what a weird group of people I am a part of. read more

Best rehab EVER! – Guest blog [MTL]

Ever needed to comeback from and recover from an injury?
November Project is your best Rehab team; we’re with you.

After an accident a few years ago, I was in a bad state emotionally. Physically, my rehab team had released me from physiotherapy but I was quite disillusioned by how little of the former me was left. Then I discovered the November Project free fitness movement; more importantly I was introduced to a very supportive group that welcomed me with open arms (literally). They believed in me & encouraged me for who I was and whatever I was able to accomplish without knowing the former me. I was hooked from day 1 with my introduction to NP in Calgary, Alberta March of 2014. What a beautiful experience it was. I have been so fortunate to be introduced, supported, & nurtured back to some semblance of fitness by November Project that I do what I can to spread the enthusiasm for the NP principles where-ever my travels take me as I go with the flow. I am so happy to share and give back a little of what the NP movement has given me each and every time I #JustShowUp. read more

We love Wednesdays [MTL]

Wisconsin notes:

  • Wednesday is the best day of all
  • Rhode Island love: welcome to November Project Providence and Newport
  • Lots of community events coming our way in the weeks to come.

Happy Hump day everyone! Wednesday has been referred to as Hump Day for decades, and for good reason. It is dead smack in the middle of the workweek and it usually associated to the most productive day of the week. The day most things get done. B O R I N G. Most people do not associate fun things to a Wednesday but ideally it should be the happiest day of the week. We know this at November Project. Wednesdays are the best! read more

The essentials of summer stadium life [MTL]

Wisconsin notes:

  • One word: STADIUM
  • A lot of community events coming up – Please read announcements for more details

It is safe to say that stadium life is something every professional sports enthusiast grows up with. Whether it’s a Football (soccer) stadium, an American Football stadium or a Baseball stadium makes no difference. Being out there does. Stadium life in North America is about appreciating the “art of vastness” – running up and down stadium steps beats staring at a computer screen any day of the week. However, we usually do it once or twice to reach our seat and that’s all. The stadium workout makes you forget the seat and focus on your chins and legs a little bit more. The feeling of hearing your heartbeat running up those Stadium steps is something that makes you wonder why haven’t I been doing this for years. It’s a humbling experience to say the least. read more

NP MTL gets daily “dos” of Uno! – Guest blog [MTL]

Guest blog by Jeremy Ullman

Wisconsin Notes:

  • Workout this week brought to you by your UNO deck of cards
  • STADIUM NEXT WEEK!!! Starting May 23rd 2018, our workouts will be at Percival-Molson Stadium! Get ready.
  • This tribe is strong…but we already knew that 🙂

We call it ‘The Old One-Two’, an expression meaning a powerful combination of two people or things. We paired up and flared up – not in juicy hives but in juicy thighs ‘cause those jump squats, burpees and circuit runs ain’t easy after that 20-25 minute mark. We showed up and throwed up – no we didn’t, but we did inadvertently give Burger King a shout out with a “Have It Your Way” style workout. With UNO deck in hand, any and all pairs picking matching colors or a WILD CARD from the deck got to EXERCISE their free-will, often opting for non-burpee options but hey that’s what happens when you RUN a democracy! read more

Never trust a hybrid !?&*%?& [MTL]

WISCONSIN NOTES:

– Hybrids are great but not always reliable 🙁
– Thanks to Jeremy/Lauren we started the workout. Thanks!
– The North Face was in the house. Glad you came Uriel. Hope to see you soon.
– Wings for Life run recap

I never thought I would be late to a November Project Workout but this morning was a first. Thanks to my 4-year-old Hybrid, my trip from the south shore of Montréal to the city was a challenge. Thankfully I was able to “reboot” the car in order for the electronics to work and get me there – on Nadine’s time 🙂 read more
