Diversity and inclusion [MTL]

“It is time for parents to teach young people early on that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength.”
— Maya Angelou

As I sit here to write this week’s blog post, the only thing that really comes to mind this morning is how perfect the Montreal November Project tribe is. It never fails to amaze me how diverse we are. We have people from different backgrounds and from different parts of the world meeting in a single spot weekly to spend just about an hour together – if we don’t count the hour for coffee after the workout 🙂 Our rich diversity at NP Montréal makes us beautiful and strong. This is why I choose to talk about diversity and inclusion this week and what we believe in at November Project Montréal.

In this golden age of diversity and inclusion at the national and/or world levels, I fear that people still feel excluded some times. We, at NP Montréal, have a commitment to diversity with the aim that each and every tribe member has a full sense of belonging within our tribe. Every tribe member has the right and the responsibility to create and sustain an all-inclusive environment. Inclusion and diversity are fundamental to our core set of values and our overall culture. No one member should be discriminated against because of his or her differences, such as age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, religion or sexual orientation.

We feel that tribe members shall feel valued as being essential to the success of this tribe and hope we create an environment in which people feel involved, respected, and connected— and to which tribe members bring their “authentic” selves to the workout. If ever this were not the case, we would most definitely want to hear from you…and listen on how we could be better at offering an inclusive environment that caters to each member’s realities.

Again, I will repeat it: THIS TRIBE IS STRONG & PERFECT in my mind. Let us work together to keep it this way and to continuously improve together…

Peace out… and see ya next week you crazy yahoos!!! 🙂
