Don’t keep calm, it’s hump day! [MTL]

WISCONSIN NOTES:

– Today was PR day. YEAH!!
– Scotiabank race – cheer station.
– Summer leader auditions.

Growing up, Wednesdays always felt like a Monday but in the middle of the week. I dreaded waking up and starting hump day. Any excuse was good not to commit to anything on a Wednesday. I hated it. I never thought that one day Wednesday would become my favorite day of the week. To top it off, Tuesday nights have become somewhat like Christmas Eve… but like every week. I get to go over the activities planned the following day with the tribe, prepare the last minute silly stuff and wait with emancipation for Wednesday morning. read more

Happy St-“Pi”-trick’s Day! [MTL]

The Feast of Saint Patrick is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17 March, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick (c. AD 385–461), the foremost patron saint of Ireland. It is widely celebrated around the world. Montreal never fails to celebrate St-Paddy’s day. The Montreal St. Patrick’s Day Parade is actually the oldest St. Patrick’s Day parade in Canada and has been held every single year since 1824. Historian Don Pidgeon claims Montreal has been celebrating St. Paddy’s Day decades earlier than that, since at least 1759, the year of the Conquest, just not in a parade format. So try and beat that NP Winnipeg, Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, Kelowna, Regina, Ottawa, Calgary, Victoria! read more

Ten date ideas for Valentine’s Day [MTL]

It’s never too late to plan your Valentine’s Day date with your life partner. Sure, you could have pulled out all stops and make dinner reservations at an expensive restaurant in romantic Montréal, followed by a night of drinks at a downtown bar where a cocktail costs more than your rent. Or, you could think outside the box and plan an NP themed Valentine’s Day workout – something that won’t set you back a few hundred dollars and actually be loads of fun! read more

The ripple effect [MTL]

Do you ever see yourself or the way you lead your life as purposeful? With all that is happening in the world today and the leaders we have elected into office to represent our nations, it is really easy to perceive ourselves as insignificant – or at least as lone individuals. We carry out our daily lives as if we were running on a treadmill and never ask ourselves if what we do really affects other people around us. When we pause a second a take a look at how interconnected we are and how we come and influence the world around us, the ripple effect we create is INCREDIBLE. read more

A true test of patience [MTL]

WISCONSIN NOTES:

  • Our first parkade workout
  • Train was never-ending: 20 minutes of waiting 😉
  • First week of Winter Recruitment challenge. Bring those friends and family members y’all!

What to say of our workout this morning? It was our first ever semi-indoor parkade workout at November Project Montréal! Hope you enjoyed it. We try to keep it new and fresh every week and we thought that a workout within the open-aired parking garage would give us an added challenge. The ramp up to the second level was a personal favourite. Just the right incline to get the legs worked up and add that extra spice to our mornings. You guys really crushed it this morning considering a part of the group was stuck behind the never-ending train (20 minutes) and couldn’t join the fun. This tested your patience and weatherproofness. You’ve passed the test 🙂 read more

Nordic warriors [MTL]

WISCONSIN NOTES:
IT WAS SO FUCKIN’ COLD… but nothing stops us 🙂

Mother nature made it a point to keep us humble by setting us up with -32°C/-26°F weather for this last workout of 2017! This has to be one of the coldest days we got since we started November Project here is Montréal – since last winter was pretty mild compared to other years. If today’s weather is any indication of what is to come for the New Year… 2018 will be frigid. We just might need to create our very own -32°C badge 🙂 read more

A little bit of Hanukkah for everyone [MTL]

WISCONSIN NOTES:

  • November Project MTL holiday dessert potluck party last Monday was a blast!
  • Happy Hanukkah everyone! Hence the theme of the workout this week
  • #NPadoreMTL: First serious snowfall of the season and the tribe came out strong. Long live MTL!

What a week! The week started off with an awesome party at Mila’s place (Thanks MILA!) for the first annual November Project MTL Holiday Dessert potluck party. What a yummy evening. Big Thanks to everyone for showing up and baking the sweetest desserts in Montréal. We had everything: spice cake, latkas, pannetone, rice crispies squares (or notJ), cookies, cupcakes, donuts, etc. I do not think I have eaten so many sweet cakes and bites in my entire life. The ambiance was super festive and everyone contributed to make the event a memorable one. If you missed it, mark your calendars for next year! This event is not to miss!!! read more

Saudade [MTL]

WISCONSIN NOTES:

  • This week was PR day (2 versions) – the tribe crushed it once again!
  • Positivity Award is MIA. Reward given to person that finds it 🙂
  • Positivity Award was “handed” anyway to our favourite lift and kickass Triathlete Gilla! So well deserved. Thanks for being here every week…
  • Tribe is amazing….you all know this!
  • Save the date: NP Montreal Holiday bash coming mid-December. Date TBD

“Saudade” is beautiful word of Portuguese origin that evokes a sense of incompleteness. A deep emotional state of nostalgic or profound melancholic longing for an absent something that one loves. Moreover, it often carries a repressed knowledge that the object of longing might never return. One English translation of the word is missingness, although it might not convey the feeling of deep emotion attached to the word “saudade”. Stronger forms of saudade might be felt towards people and things whose whereabouts are unknown, such as a Positivity Award. read more
