Tomato, Tabata (YWG)

*Disclosure: This post has nothing to do with Tomatoes.

**Double disclosure: I am having a lot of trouble walking and going from a standing to a sitting position after todays workout.

***Triple disclosure: I sincerely hope you are all feeling the aforementioned pain.  Pain is progress.  And today the pain is plentiful. read more

I finally understand (YWG)

IMG_2581

After being gone for 3 weeks, I returned to the tribe today for an amazing morning of hard work, hugs, new faces and pure exhaustion. It was amazing to be back and my absence really helped me to finally understand a beautiful song that never made much sense:

The lyrics by Mr Pass Enger, “You only need the light when it’s burning low. You only miss the sun when it starts to snow. Only know you love her when you let her go” read more

Oh Canada – Oh-oh-oh Canada (YWG)

In the immortal words of Classified:

“From the greatest of lakes to the greenest of greens
To the rockiest mountains and everything in between”

You came, you saw, you conquered Canada Day in style, Winnipeg.  There is no better way to celebrate our country than getting up at ass o’clock to meet 90 of your sweatiest friends for a good morning ass kicking! read more

Bring the Thunder, Bring the Heat (YWG)

I owe you an apology, Winnipeg.  Last night when I checked the forecast, and this morning again when I rolled out of bed and saw the epic amount of rain that was coming down, I doubted you. I had no idea how many people would #justshowup this morning, because it has been several (ok maybe like 2) months since we have had to prove we are #weatherproof, and definitely not since our numbers exploded and the tribe has grown exponentially in the last month or so. Were our new tribe members up to the task?  Do they even know what weatherproof means? I wasn’t sure, and for that, I owe the deepest of apologies… read more

Ooga-Chaka (YWG)

I can honestly say that I have never heard a more melodic, harmonious, and beautiful collection of angel voices coming together to produce a sweet lullaby than the luscious rendition of “Hooked on a Feeling” that the tribe produced during the pre-workout hype-bounce this morning… Who am I kidding, there’s no way I can say that honestly.  It was, however, a hauntingly wonderful moment to hear the monkey grunts of the tribe work together at ass-o-clock in the morning to unleash that audacious cover upon the world. The video shall be posted, and rejoiced forever… read more

How I will miss thee (YWG)

One person in particular is really taking the advice “skip like a 4 year old child” to heart.

This morning was my last workout with the tribe for a few weeks and boy was it ever beautiful. For our second week in a row now we eclipsed the 100 person mark, this thing grows with each conversation, tweet, post, like etc. Every person who joins us is equally a part of what has been created, Rick and I are simply the two weirdos who make shit up and yell a bit more often. read more

1400 Fingers (YWG)

Today was a very special day at November Project Winnipeg – 1 year since the first group of 8 friends met on Wednesday morning. Today saw birthday hats, new friends, and more hugs than one could possibly count; 140 people showed up for today’s workout – that’s a whopping 60 more than our previous record.  1 month ago our biggest group was 60; today we had 60 new faces, along with the other 80 regulars that have started calling this tribe family.  Such a special, incredible day deserves a special blog post, so Tom and Rick have each pen’d a short thank you, to show you how much today and every day for the last year has meant to us and to this community. read more

Smile! You’re on Camera (YWG)

Two quick reminders:
1. Pop up workout on Saturday morning at the Forks. 7 am. Hosting the Occupational Therapy conference and we need tribe members out to show them what we are all about.
2. Sunrise 6 K! – next Friday at Assiniboine Park. We show up, race 6 km record your times and you are on your way for the day. That is until we gather at Rick’s house later that night for a BBQ. More details to come on this whole event read more
