TGIFFF – (PHL)

Thank goodness it’s Franklin Field Friday – sure does roll off the tongue, don’t it? Today was simple; we met, we hugged and we pounded bleachers (few even shared a 45lb sandbag for a full tour). Simple, right?

Each week Franklin Field begs us all to challenge ourselves, to see what we are made of, to push ourselves past that threshold of “I can’t go one more step.” And every week the tribe does not disappoint! You feel the burn and the struggle and keep pushing. You acknowledge there is a point where it all feels like it’s going to crumble, then you rise to the occasion and keep climbing. Maybe someone says “good work” maybe you shout out a “fack yeah” maybe it’s a high-five or an easy smile…  maybe it is all coming from within you (you all have it there). Whatever it is that motivates you to keep moving; keep showing up and bringing it! read more

Getting Down To It & Racing Everything (PHL)

Early on today the tribe had a little trouble understanding what “top of the steps” & “bottom of the steps” were. Yes, 6:30 a.m. is early for some of you. Yes, some of you (not me) don’t drink coffee pre workout. AND yes, getting 200 people on the same page at one moment may prove difficult sometimes. So, as some may modify during the workout – when y’all question it, leadership will modify the entire workout right then and there. Which is what we did today, to make sure everyone got moving! Big thanks to my co-leader Dan for shouting “The point where you get to where there are no steps in front of you, is the top” (and vice versa). read more

A PR Choose Your Own Adventure – (PHL)

You’ve probably noticed the Philadelphia Tribe is growing.  As we grow some things may change. Thus, leadership decided to move PR day to Franklin Field Fridays and give you fast folks a bit more room & variety.

“How will that work?” (Everyone asked). Well, this month we allowed the tribe to choose their own PR adventure. Wanta see how much your mile time has improved? Great, we have a track and you can time your mile. read more

Duck, Duck, Goose – (PHL)

We met, we hugged, we ran suicides… then we bolted across the street from our usual Wednesday morning spot and played like little kids at The Oval. Little kids who like to work up a sweat.

Spontaneity is key, and this morning leadership simply provided guidelines and let the tribe to the work! Each time a new person was “goosed” they got to call the workout; thus creating Squat, Squat, Goose -Plank, Plank, Goose – Push-up, Push-up, Goose – I believe one group was even doing the Macarena at one point! Which was right on point because today was all about having fun! read more

Max Power 3000 – (PHL)

We planned a quickie this morning, but that didn’t mean it would be easy on our bodies or our brains. This morning’s workout required coordination, it required teamwork and it required math.
We broke our ever growing group of amazing folks who want to get fit for free into teams of ten this morning. Nineteen teams of ten, a few had spillovearage with eleven in total – you do that math for our attendance! read more

The Tribe Showed Up 100 Strong – (PHL)

The Tribe showed up. The tribe crushed Franklin Field. The tribe was 100 strong.
Y’all are amazing! Y’all earned your weekend – now go enjoy it!

photo 2 (8)Jason was awarded the Positivity Award pre-workout today. This man is the best! He works hard every week. He wears the shortyiest shorts which always match his grassrootsgear. He flies off on 24 hour missions (eg. to Germany two weeks ago where he still grabbed a recruit and did a 6:30 a.m. deck workout)! He is committed to the hydration of the tribe as he always shows up with a case or two of water for us all. We love you Jason, we love your energy and we love your style – safe travels this week!
Get outside this weekend and have some fun! Recruit your friends, strangers, your parents and/or your kids. Be kind, give love and hugs everywhere you go. This shit is contagious spread it all over! read more

Red, White & “We” (PHL)

Sometimes Dan and Suz just need to put the cameras away and get down and dirty with the tribe. Today we focused on the “us” and the “we” in November Project Philadelphia. While we couldn’t enter Penn’s Franklin Field (due to the holiday), that didn’t stop us from getting our hearts pumping, our hugs on strong and having an amazing morning. We split up into five teams of 15 or so and embarked on a full-on deck race! Winner ran to the next group and finished their deck, then the next and so on, until we were all one big, solid team again — no man left behind. read more

Call Me, Maybe! (PHL)

Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here’s my number… go get sweaty with those designated digits along with 150 other sexy bodies and after that, we’ll see what kind of connections we’re making!?
Philly leadership was smitten with an NP_LAX workout that went down a few weeks back and we wanted to get our tribe buzzing each others phones too! This is, afterall, a lovefest that needs to be nurtured, and what better way to do so than to reach out and touch a fellow tribesperson at any given point in your day (for like ever now that you have a rando phone number)? YES!
The tribe gathered and wrote their numbers (no names) on a slice of paper. Numbers were gathered in a bag. Thanks Sara for the assist with all this clerical work! In the midst of suicides on the steps numbers were pulled. The circle around the fountain atop our steps was chalked as a rotary phone and each number corresponded with a workout to be performed for 3:30 minutes; squats, burpees, wall sits, pushups, lunges etc. read more

Whole(ly) Weekend Earned – (PHL)

The tribe was whole today. Leadership was together at the same workout for the first time in over a week, and surely didn’t skip a beat as they were right back to their usual antics of agreeing so much that one might think they shared a brain. Translation: simultaneously pointing in opposite directions. read more

Regulators!!! Mount Up! (PHL)

“By a show of hands, how many of you know who Ralph Macchio is?” This is how we separated the young from the not-so-young this morning. And we “old folk” came out on top, because we all know who Ralph is. But that’s a whole other story. See what happens when you leave us, Dan? Things get weird-er! read more
