Who Ya Gonna Call?

#LateBlog.  Life and stuff.  C’est la vie.

Wisconsin notes: #BetterThanBedtime November 8 at 7 pm.  Do it.

Leading up to the workout this week – the Mondays and Tuesdays of days gone passed – I was having a really hard time getting excited for Wednesday morning.  Call it a seasonal depression as I watch it getting super dark in the morning, and all the rainy sleety awfulness that we were experiencing was just gettin me down. We have been solidly over 100 tribe members at every workout since June, and I thought for sure this would be the week that tested who the core members really are. How many will get out of bed in negative temperatures when its been raining all night? 50? 60? Just a few smiling faces would be great, right?? read more

A Long, Long Time Ago (YWG)

A long, long time ago

I can still remember how Wednesdays used to be like every other day

If I knew that given just one chance

I could get up, workout, and bust out a dance

Then maybe I’d be happy for a while?

TIMBER!!! (YWG)

I’ll admit I was a little bit apprehensive heading in to this mornings Lumberjack Games.  We try to bring the weird on the regular every single Wednesday morning – but had we gone to far this time?  Are we really going to ask more than 100 grown humans to not only dress like Lumberjacks at 6 am, but to slowly waltz with each other to the classic Log Drivers Waltz?  Roll around together on a dewy lawn doing half pushups on each others ankles? read more

Weatherproof (YWG)

Pre-blog note: Click here to put your P.R. times in the tracker.  Or just use it to sign the waiver.  But definitely, definitely do that. Good talk.  Go do it.

Another Wednesday morning, another 10 minutes less light we get at the workout.  I don’t think i’ve ever fully appreciated how quickly the seasons change than getting to watch the sun slowly fade into oblivion through the month of September.  Its neat to watch, but with the change of season brings the inevitable – #winteriscoming. read more

Out of the Darkness (YWG)

Today was one of those morning that absolutely flew by. From the moment we all gathered in the dark (100+ adults and 1 baby) there was a good vibe. The cold air got a little warmer as we huddled for the bounce, the music was loud and on point and people worked hard and laughed alongside their friends – new and old. It didn’t hurt that as we traversed the River Walk, the sunrise created a beautiful painting of pinks and blues and oranges across the Eastern sky – it doesn’t get much better in September. Solid workout, solid people that is the gist of it! read more

Pretty Faces and Quick Laces (YWG)

Looking through our Yearbook Photos from this morning, its really, truly amazing how we have such a huge group of really ridiculously good looking people. I mean seriously – I think we just need to collectively quit our day jobs and register for the Derek Zoolander School for Kids Who Can’t Read Good and Want to Do Other Stuff Good Too. How much fun would that be? read more

Winter is Coming (YWG)

As mornings grow darker, seasons begin to change, and August rolls over in to September, I think its worthy to pause and reflect on what we have built as a community over the past year, but specifically this past summer since our 1 year in June. Its getting harder and harder to rope the group in every morning and keep everyone’s attention – not because of the group size or the trains going by the forks, but simply because each and every one of you is so excited to catch up with tribe members you saw just last week.  Sitting back and watching all the connections – true friendships – that have been formed either partly or directly because of early Wednesday mornings at the Forks is incredible.  I hear and see so many stories of people from NP going on adventures outside of Wednesday morning and nothing could make me happier than to continue to watch this community grow and develop.  The workouts will always be hard; we are going to make you sweat week in week out, thats our promise and that has been consistent since day 1.  But as the community keeps growing and strengthening, its those connections that have the biggest lasting effect and what I truly feel makes November Project different from every other workout group or fitness facility you will find. read more

Early Schmearly (YWG)

Days like today really cause me to pause and reflect about how truly lucky I am. This morning when I got out of bed it was still middle-of-the-night, trip-over-your-dog dark out. That shit is never fun, whether its -40 or +30. It sucks. Its hard. The only reason i’m able to do it is because I think about all the of you – the 150+ loyal tribe members that are going through the same thing, then I silently laugh to myself that you’re all in as much pain as I am, and it makes it a little bit easier. And then I remember how much I like you guys, feel sorry for laughing, and drag my ass up to come see all your faces and remember why Wednesday mornings are just the best. read more

Tomato, Tabata (YWG)

*Disclosure: This post has nothing to do with Tomatoes.

**Double disclosure: I am having a lot of trouble walking and going from a standing to a sitting position after todays workout.

***Triple disclosure: I sincerely hope you are all feeling the aforementioned pain.  Pain is progress.  And today the pain is plentiful. read more

Oh Canada – Oh-oh-oh Canada (YWG)

In the immortal words of Classified:

“From the greatest of lakes to the greenest of greens
To the rockiest mountains and everything in between”

You came, you saw, you conquered Canada Day in style, Winnipeg.  There is no better way to celebrate our country than getting up at ass o’clock to meet 90 of your sweatiest friends for a good morning ass kicking! read more
