No Matter The Reason… (Worcester)

Yesterday, We celebrated our beloved Ben O’Meara by having our annual “Ben’s Day” workout. This is a workout full of all things Ben, which this year happened to be an AC/DC theme. We did our typical stadium workout… however, at 4 different spots there were orange cones which indicated a workout that you would do underneath the stadium, and then continue through the sections. With workouts named BACK in Black, Highway to Hell, TNT, and Fire your guns, A sea of green moved through the stadium in the early morning hours. read more

BensDayIII (Worcester)

For the past 2 years, we have dubbed the first Wednesday in May, “Ben’s Day”. This is a very special day here in the Woo.

We lost Ben unexpectedly on April 30th, 2017. I will never forget that day, and I am sure all who knew him feel the same. Some days, it still doesn’t seem real.

Ben was the biggest ambassador for November Project. He started on his wife’s birthday in the summer of 2013 and was hooked. Once the pledge began in Worcester during the Summer of 2015, Ben and Jenn jumped right in and became “dual-citizens” of Boston and Worcester. read more

This shit really IS good. (Worcester)

These write ups always sound really amazing in my mind, and then when I sit down to type them, I’m not sure they come out the way I imagined, but I will take a stab at it.

As most of you know by now, Our friends on the West Coast just lost a tribe member and dear friend from cancer. Another vibrant light taken far too soon. I did not know Matt on a personal level, but I spent some time last night reading through posts and looking at photos. Once I did that, I watched the vlog he put out recently. Seems to me that Matt was a very big part of everyone’s lives he knew. What really stood out to me were the last couple minutes of his vlog where he said he had a really good life and has accepted his fate. How many of us in our last days could look in to a camera, and with such sincerity speak so eloquently? What a brave human. read more

A few PSA’s (Worcester)

Happy March everyone, Just wanted to leave a few very important reminders here.

  1. If you create a November Project team for a race, do NOT password protect it. I know we are pretty amazing, but NP Woo is NOT the only tribe, there are 48 other amazing tribes that may have members wanting to sign up for these races, too. If you make a November Project Worcester specific team, that’s different, but please know if you are ONLY using “NOVEMBER PROJECT” You can NOT password protect it. If you are a team captain, and have done this, please remove the password.
  2. BUFFS. Everyone has been asking for weeks where the buffs are. Well, they are here. They have been here, and they have been riding in my jeep for a while. They are lonely, and they want to go home. If you have NOT picked up your buff, PLEASE DO SO. It’s a November Project Buff, so where do you pick it up? At November Project. We do have a few leftover available, 5$ cash at the Wednesday workouts only- first come first serve.
  3. Stadium– We will be going back once Mother Nature cooperates. The whole reason we have not been there is because 1) There is no parking in the winter on the street when there is a ban and 2) the metal stairs do not handle well in sub freezing temps. We have some scars to prove it. Unless I missed something, both of those items are still very much so applicable. Hang in there, it’s coming. Don’t forget- NO DOGS at the stadium (BUT STILL WELCOME AT THE POP UPS EACH MONTH!) , and no children under 17 allowed on the stairs. THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WORKOUT (similar to those of the Common) BECAUSE EVERYONE IS WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED TO SHOW UP.

If you have any questions, please reach out to us directly. If you are not on our weekly email distribution, please send us an email at NovemberProjectWoo@gmail.com to be added. There is a lot of info each week to ensure you’re always in the know. You’ll probably get a chuckle, too. read more

So many thanks… (Worcester)

For those of you who did not know, On January 29th my father was transported to the ICU at Umass in Worcester. He had suffered a COPD attack, and had to be intubated immediately. For over 3 weeks, we made many trips back and forth to room 675, not knowing what to expect each day. Some days gave us a little hope, but most left us feeling helpless. I tried to live my life as “normal” as possible during this time, but it was tough. I caught a few sicknesses, lost sleep, lived off of sweets and seltzer (polar, of course), and just felt run down in general. I wasn’t really sure what I was supposed to be doing.   read more

Dear Onlookers, We see you. (Worcester)

Onlookers sounds a little bit nicer than lurkers, right? Maybe? Yeah, I think so.

Our Facebook page has over 2,000 likes, Our Instagram over 1,500- and a few hundred people are on our e-mail distribution list.

I know it is human to fear things. What happens is a lot of you are sitting back, watching, telling yourself “One day I’ll go”, but that one day just hasn’t happened yet. That is OKAY. But the purpose of this blog is to tell you, MAKE NEXT WEDNESDAY THAT DAY. WHY? WHY NOT. read more

Peace out 2018. (Worcester)

Can you all even believe we are just 3 days away from 2019? Where has the time gone?

Below is a little recap of 2018 in the Woo. Thank you to each and every one of you for such a FUN year. Without all of you, we wouldn’t have this to look forward to each week.

Make your commitment NOW to #JustShowUp next year. Let’s make it the BEST ONE YET. Who is with us? read more

PR Day & Pop-Up (Worcester)

Today was our first of many PR Days at the Common. PR Day means “Personal Record” Emphasis on the PERSONAL. You don’t need to be the fastest, you just need to be YOUR BEST. Today set the bar, and each month, your goal is to raise the bar a little higher. The energy and support out there today was amazing. Way to bring your A game right after the holiday. Today also concluded Decembers push-up burnout. Don’t worry, there is a new burnout planned for January. read more

Thank you, Ivan! (Worcester)

And just like that, Ivan is retired. I think he said this am that he is “a washed up co-leader” I don’t know if that is how I would word it, but sounds good.

It has been a pleasure to lead with this ball of energy since April. Few people I have come across in my lifetime can run on so little sleep and have as much fire inside them. I will miss the quick wit, last minute creativity, problem solving (he is SO good at that), and epic bounces. Going through medical school and co-leading is no small task, and this guy nailed it. read more

It’s beginning to look a lot like AWESOME. (Worcester)

This morning was a great one, I mean all Wednesday’s are- but this morning both 5:30 and 6:20 really brought the energy. We even had a few people do doubles today. And the mashup Christmas songs you guys- CAN YOU EVEN STAND IT?

Once upon a time, the 5:30 group used to be a small group of people who had to get to work and couldn’t cut the 6:20, NOW, we have a solid good sized group who shows up each week and means business.  read more
