Meet Sarah. She more than deserved the Positivity Award when we gave it to her a few weeks ago. She even wrote this amazing blog post about November Project San Diego. And then she slept through her alarm on Wednesday and didn’t make it in time to return the Positivity Award to the tribe. What does that mean? Well, it means we missed you Sarah. And you owe us all a dance next Wednesday. But we still love you. And this blog post still deserves to be read by all.
Shake and Bake (SD)
Talladega Nights? Nope. Talladega Mornings.
I feel like I say this a lot, but this morning was epic. You all crawled out of the shadows, grabbed your partners by the hands, hoistee’d, pushed up, sat up, ran stairs, and sprinted cement. You poured sweat (and maybe a few tears). Your hands stung from all of the high fives. You gave it your all.
Race Day (SD)
This morning was epic. This morning was so epic that it’s taken me until this afternoon to craft this blog post.
Why was it epic? 2 reasons:
1. It was dark as shit. And you guys still showed up and kicked Daylight Savings Time in the ass.
2. You raced. And you raced HARD. Some weeks we need long, funny, clever blog posts to get across the message of the morning. Today’s message was simple: RACE EVERYTHING. And even if you raced everything yesterday at the SD Half Marathon, many of you raced everything again this morning.
We Missed You: Most of San Diego (SD)
Dear November Project San Diego,
My biggest fear. This day has come. The day I have to write a “We Missed You” post for most of the NPSD tribe.
For the past year and half, I have defended your honor and #weatherproofness to the other 15 tribes of November Project. Yes, San Diego has the best weather year round. Yes, I know you other cities have to deal with sweltering heat during the summer and 89 feet of snow during the winter. But, YES, San Diego can be #weatherproof when it counts.
Recipe for Sweaty Success (SD)
Recipe for Sweaty Success:
One part odds (substitute evens if necessary)
2 handfuls of bunny hops
2 servings of full frontal stairs
10 heaping cupfuls of skips
1 teary eyed Positivity Award winner
and
100+ crowdsourced photos
Blend well, season appropriately with hugs, high fives, and Fuck Yeahs to taste, and you’ll end up with one pot of delicious, sweaty success.
Where to Begin (NPSD)
This morning was… wow. When you’re not sure where to start, I find it’s best to start at the beginning.
A lot of you showed up. And from all corners of this lovely planet (or America at least). We had the infamous Micah and Grace of Summit Ave Pool Parties, we had about half of the NPLAX tribe, we had Luce MaGoose from the land of #PaulLeak, and we had RED. Yup, our favorite ginger came back to celebrate the holiday that shares it’s theme with his nickname.
At November Project SD, we do two things well: we’re really strange and we really try to include everyone. That means even if you’re sick, or injured, or sick and injured, we have a place for you. And Josh filled the role of card caller well during the warmup. Thank him for all those air squats. And as far as strange goes, well your slack jaw should be well stretched today.
With booties burning and jaws open, you guys attacked that 30 minute hill circuit. When you see the amazing photos of yourselves that pop up on the interwebs today, be proud. You all kicked some ass.
To round the morning off, you sprinted to the top, collapsed in a pile of sweat, and got your photo taken. Not bad for President’s Day morning.
So get out there, remember your homework (and if you forgot, it’s below), and BE HAPPY, BE STRONG, BE BRIGHT SD!
Super Boring but Important Stuff Recap:
– Next Monday is Ash’s last day before she tours the world for 4 months. Don’t miss it. And do your homework! Research the other tribes and dress like another cities co-leader.
– Wednesday is at the Convention Center stairs as usual. Minimize your baggage. And no chalk this week, we promise Mr. Janitor man.
The Human Experience – Meet Jeff (SD)
Dear NP17 World,
I kindly invite you to meet Jeff. Jeff is one of the smartest, funniest, most fierce members of November Project San Diego. He also happens to be one of the most amazing huggers that the tribe, and possibly world, has ever seen. He hugs with his whole body, his whole heart, and possibly some supernatural force that’s yet to be discovered. It’s no wonder that the Positivity Award finally made it into his hands.
Time to Go Padula (SD)
Wednesday’s Phrase of the Day
Go Padula:
(noun) the last name of a co-leader of November Project San Diego.
(verb) to push harder, run faster, yell louder, high five more.
Synonyms: HAM.
In a sentence: It’s time to go Padula on these stairs today.
Today at November Project San Diego, you all went Padula on the Convention Center. You flipped cards, hoisteed, sprinted, and raced everything.
November in January – Meet Julia (SD)
November Project,
Meet Julia. Julia is an amazing yoga instructor, living in San Diego for about the past year. I had the privilege of seeing Julia tell her story at a lululemon event called San Diego Speaks. So resilient and strong, that’s what I thought of this woman.
A few weeks ago she showed up to the Wednesday stairs and we had the awkward moment of introduction, considering I already knew a lot about her history.
