Hey I Just Met You… (SD)

And this is crazy, but here’s my number so text me an awkward selfie maybe?

Happy Labor Day tribe! According to Wikipedia, Labor Day is most commonly celebrated with parades and barbecues. But here in sunny San Diego, we know most of you celebrate by soaking up the everlasting sunshine, giggling to yourself when the tourists complain about having to go home to “fall” and then “winter”, and utilizing Monday off of work as an excuse to close down the Silver Fox on Sunday night.
We wanted to make sure you all ended this fabulous weekend by getting yourself some digits, and although you’ve all been trying to copy Eugene’s sweet dance moveswe weren’t sure you could make that happen on your own.
Enter the infamous telephone number workout this morning. You each got a random tribe members phone number, used that to guide your workout stations, and now should be crafting a witty/creepy/amusing text to send.
Consider that your Labor Day homework!
Be happy, be strong, be bright SD…see you WEDNESDAY!IMG_5070.JPG read more

Tribe, meet 8Mile.

Where to begin. I met JD at a local running store’s Monday night run club. First impression, nice dude, southern manners, can beast Mt. Soledad with the best of them.

I stood on my bench, made my November Project hype speech, dropped an unexpected (they didn’t know me that well yet) f-bomb or two, and then anxiously awaited Wednesday morning to see who would show up. JD. Only recruit. Fuck yeah. read more

Red, Wet, and Blue (SD)

Sometimes here at NPSD, we get excited: holidays, outfits, 5 Wednesdays in one month.

We know that November Project has a reputation for lacking creativity, being zero fun, and frankly being boring. So we wanted to change that today.

Enter a red, white, and blue themed workout sprinkled (see what I did there?) with water.
Many variations of freeze tag were played.
A relay race was run.
And a completely improvised circuit of exercises/hot potato with water bombs/squirt gun enforced threesomes (push-ups and hoisties, geez) was completed with your team.
Happy birthday was wished to America (and Eric).
And in true NP fashion, we finished with a very wet finisher’s tunnel. read more

Holy Balls the Blog is LATE!

The blog is late. The blog is really f-ing late. So late I’m not even sure what happened at the workout this morning. Or that may be due to the spray paint fumes.
Either way…here goes:
– we tagged November Project shirts (not Project November).
– we set PRs.
– we had BOS visitors and their mothers.
– one person threw up.
– and we had way too many Mikes. read more

The Oar Handle Rows Itself

(Or that time our #positivityaward winner wrote us an interpretive poem about the oar handle)

Meet Tom. Tom is the epitome of NP. Tom is strong, Tom gives great hugs, Tom encourages everyone around him, Tom loves to #raceeverything, and Tom is (like the rest of NP) unique. So it’s no wonder Tom won the #positivityaward a few weeks ago. And in true Tom fashion, wrote us a very interesting piece. We love you Tom. read more

Some 18 Year Olds Have It Figured Out

Any of you that have been to a NPSD workout know this girl. And her mom. They are weekly regulars and have been since the beginning. To the naked eye, she’s a positive, fit, smiling chick. Cool, you may think to yourself. But once you discover that she’s really an 18 year old kid (I know I wasn’t doing voluntary 6:30am workouts in high school) who graduated high school 6 months early and is going to play Div 1 soccer at Oregon next year, you see her in a whole new light. I present Twist, our very first guest blogger: read more

BOOM! 2014 is here!

This morning 15 brave souls tossed their hangovers aside and rang in 2014 the only way November Project knows how.
The tribe had a rare moment of seriousness and reflected on what an amazing year 2013 was. And then we immediately got down to work. Tabatas were had this morning with some hill sprints mixed in for fun.
Nobody puked, which was a surprise, and we celebrated that by attempting to pop a bottle of bubbly (and failing). Perhaps the universe was telling us something…
In true fashion we finished with a photo making our best “serious party” faces, tagged gear till we ran out of spray paint, hugged goodbye, and #verbal-ed for next week.
Shout out to fearless NP YEG leader Nadim for gracing us with his presence the past few weeks. We can’t wait to see you in a year. But no, I’m not promising no burpees for your next visit. Sorry I’m not sorry.
If you missed this morning, you have some making up to do in 2014. So we’ll see you all next week, right?
Peace, love, champagne, and world takeover,

Dear 2013

Dear 2013,

Thank you. Thank you for being a year full of change. A year full of burpees and hill sprints, high fives and sweaty hugs, new friends and new meetings of old friends. You brought the birth of the #Powerful7, reprogrammed people’s gut reaction to the question “ya’ll good?”, and witnessed a shift in the way the world thinks about fitness and community.
So thank you. We’ll miss you. But we’re pretty fucking excited to see what 2014 has in store.
San Diego, we’ll see you at 6:29AM tomorrow to ring in the new year the only way we know how.
To the entire November Project family WE ❤️❤️❤️ YOU ALL! And Happy New Year! read more

I’m Dreaming of a Sunny Christmas…

Fe, fi, fo, fum… No, that’s not right.
Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to November Project we go… Hmm, getting closer.
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum? That’s later tonight.
HO HO HO! That’s it!
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good NP morning! And merry it was!
Neon was traded for red, green, Santa hats, and antlers. Santa gave the SD tribe the Final Hump 2.0 this morning (he’s not sure whether you were naughty or nice this year).
We celebrated Christmas morning with our extended tribe family (#BOS, #YEG, #DEN in da house), shaped ourselves into Christmas trees for a photo, and then disappeared over the river and through the woods to continue celebrating with the rest of our friends and family.
From our NP family to yours – MERRY CHRISTMAS… And we’ll see YOU in 2014!
Peace, love, world takeover –
