Crazy Eights (NYC)

Things got a little crazy today–actually REALLY crazy.  We split Tribe into two groups based on D.O.B. (January to June  and July to December birthday’s).   WHAT? Yeah, we know, crazy!  Everyone started with a plank before being sent into opposite directions around our Grotto Crazy Eight’s course.  Group alternated between 10 dips and a set of lunges at the top of the Grotto.  We did 15 mins before reversing for another 15 mins–I know, CRAY, CRAY! read more

“I and Love and You” (NYC)

Our hands they shake (from planking so long) our heads,  they spin (from ameba tag)

Brooklyn welcomed us with open arms. We brought the noise, energy, smiles, intensity, and sweat to Brooklyn! Some of us ran 10 miles to get there, others ran a few minutes–either way, we SHOWED THE FUCK UP! We even scared away a paid-to-play boot camp. BOOM! read more

No Nonsense, Check that Shit at the Door (NYC)

We fucking woke up the Sun–TWICE (it got cloudy)! Today was epic. We had newbies! We had other tribe members (Mike and Andrew from Beantown)! We did a call out to the Mayor! We had our community! The Tribe is growing! The tribe is strong.

We broke up the tribe into three groups to starts-Germany, Argentina, and The Netherlands.  We did 33 minutes (30 mins + 3 mins for stoppage time) of pure badass work. Groups went into three different Grotto directions (we call it the shamrock), but still remained a unit, a family, a community.  Each loop was broken up by three hardcore exercises:  10 push-ups, 10 burpees, 10 dips!  During the workout we might have felt like Brazil, but after the workout we were all champions! Epic high-fiving throughout the entire workout! read more

Trust The Thrust (NYC)

Our second #SummerFridays brought us much moisture, but we loved it because we are #weatherproof.  We had visitors (family) from 3 other tribes! The Tribe is strong.  We had 15 newbies today. The Tribe is strong.

We partnered up for this short workout. One partner went around the pier while the one go their plank on! Each triber did this 5 X’s. We felt the burn, we felt the pain, we felt the love! read more

Slippery When Wet! (NYC)

We’re weather proof! The NYC Tribe was out in full force battling the wet and slippery elements.  We welcomed about 15 newbies today with mass hugs. We had two (one has green has his favorite color) tribers from DC–Welcome! We love you!

After practicing our, “Good Morning, Mr. Mayor” group shout out, we got down to business. Bounce! Bounce! We broke our people up into group’s of three, then further broke those groups down into red, white, and blue (colors, not people).  We sent each color in a different direction of our shamrock formation: right (added new round-about section), middle grotto, left (hockey rink-middle line) .  Segments were broken by: 10 dips, 10 bear crawls (not bar crawls), and 10 lunges. We did 30 mins total finishing with a group plank. “Hurry, I don’t want to plank anymore.” read more

We LOVE Bear Crawling Almost As Most As We Love Bar Crawling!!

The Tribe is strong! After meeting at our Wednesday home, our Gracie Mansion flag pole, we were off to beloved 103rd St. footbridge.  We hit the footbridge as we do the last Wednesday of every month (and did during our entire pledge period) to crush the bridge while grassrooting gets done.

Tunes were jamming! Stenciling and spraying were going at epic levels (this is a PR for grassrooted gear–many the shirt to be tagged).  Props to Paul, Kathy, Chris, and Pete for getting their gloves and spray on. read more

NYC Tribe is (Baby) Booming!

Ok, shit just got serious.  We’re raising the bar week after week and the community is growing.  Two major PR’s were set this morning in Charles Schurz Park.  We hit our record number today by 20 people. Eighty-five peeps in the house (or park)! Yes, that’s 85!  That PR was spurred on by support from fellow NP-tribe-a-nators, Patrick from Boston and Christina from DC.  Also, since we didn’t hit 100, Paulleak got to keep his hair…..for now. read more

60 For 60 (Our hats go off to you, Sir Roger) NYC

How fitting that today’s tribe reached an all time PR of 60 just one day after the 60th anniversary of Sir Roger Banister breaking the 4:00 barrier for the mile? Very Fucking Fitting! The tribe is strong and only getting stronger.

We started our warm up with giving mass hugs to all the newbies.  We love newbies! After we got our bounce on, we headed over to the Grotto.   Keeping to our Banister/Mile theme, we kicked of our workout with a 3:59.4 run. We then partnered up and repeated the following circuit: continuous 4 laps of the Grotto broken up with 5 burpees and 5 hoisties for 25 minutes. If an athlete finished the 4 laps (again keeping with the mile theme) before their  partner did, they patiently waited in the plank position.  Positivity Award today was EARNED by Emily. Emily is #WEATHERPROOF.  She showed up last week, crushed the workout, in the rain, and she did it all with a smile on her face.  Essence of what the positivity award. read more

It’s Raining Positivity! NYC

We keep the workout straightforward and stuck to the Grotto since the rain and wind were an issue. The beautiful tribe did 30 minutes of Grotto loops broken up with 10 jumping jacks–we switched direction at 15 minutes. The loop becomes mentally taxing after a while.  You keep doing the same thing over and over.  The wind is starting to pick up.  The dirzzle is turning to a solid rain.  But today we found out who was strong.  Today the tribe was strong.  Today the tribe was #weatherproof read more
