Rounding out the year

Last workout of 2020. A year in review with the moments to celebrate and fun memories and thoughts were shared last week. Please see here

Hard to believe about 1 year ago we were playing street hockey at Lansdowne. Remember that? Remembering that fondly….. I don’t think any of us thought we would be here, looking the way the world looks, and 2021 may be filled with much uncertainty as well. However, what we can control is our outlook. What are some of your reflections? How did you respond to all the changes? Did you go through seasons of grief and acceptance? Did you go through a season of change, of discomfort and then ease into a new routine? We witnessed creativity of gatherings, virtual games, ways of keeping yourself motivated to move, to connect, to stay positive.  read more

some of those silver linings(Ottawa)

What does the future look like a week from today, a month or even a year from now? Will we still be sporting masks, keeping our two metres of distance, having social gatherings in our backyards still? We’re just as unsure as you are. But, here are some things we would like you to know.

We will continue to connect virtually. You can count on that. read more

freshest of the fresh (Ottawa)

It feels like we’ve seen a lot of each other recently. If you’ve been out of town for the last week here in Ottawa here’s a quick synopsis of what’s gone down.

To start last Wednesday, we raced, crushed or attempted to crush some PR’s. We passed off the Positivity Award to a woman within our city who inspires and leads by example for other families, friends and some moms out there too. The Sparkettes are a force to be reckoned with. On Friday some of you met us on the hill. It really wasn’t that big of an occasion. I mean two people who consistently show up decided to commit the rest of their lives to one another. There currently is no better love story than that of Lauren and Seumas except maybe my own parents but then again I did not bear witness to it, so it’s hard to say. These two let us share in a part of their magical, making your skin have goose bumps because of all the love filled day. Even more, Friday morning was another time for us to gather and celebrate with people that we were familiar and unfamiliar with. Members of November Project Baltimore and Edmonton graced us with their presence. read more

Just Keep Showing Up!

Can you believe we are already at the end of April?! 2019 is flying by. How are you doing on the goals you’ve set for this year? Making progress or has it now become “one day” you’ll get around to it? That phrase has become a pet peeve of mine. We all have said it at one point or another. We all have friends we try to invite to the workouts or anything that challenges them to get out of their comfort zone. read more

How I discovered November Project.

Hi my names Jay, and here is my story about how I discovered November Project.

But first, a little background on me. I moved to the Shuswap in the fall of 2016 from Williams Lake for the environmental program in the Salmon Arm’s campus. After a year’s time, particular circumstances led me to the Kelowna’s campus. The transitions have been very difficult in all honesty. However, I’ve stayed true to my studies and have kept moving forward.
Upon arrival here, it was an actual culture shock from Williams Lake in many regards. Further, being the new guy in town has posed challenges, and I’ve constantly found myself searching for like-minded
individuals to associate with. read more

Race Day 2.0, 2.0 (IND)

July 25, 2018

RACE DAY

The new race day is back with a vengeance! This puppy is no joke (even for puppies like Hamiltonand Penny). We’re talking 26 minutes on the clock, running laps around the block. During those laps you’re stopping on the platforms (after slapping gold doors) to knock out 20 sit-ups, 20 push-ups, 20 mountain climbers, and 10 burpees.

We’re bringing back the tracker.

The tracker, found here, was popularized years ago and is used by you to track your monthly race day time (formerly) to see your improvement. It fell by the wayside for about a year, but it’s been resurrected. With the new race day being a set time rather than a set number of reps and laps to complete, the tracker will now be used to track race day distance covered/reps completed rather than time.

Log your new race day numbers in the tracker as follows: Whole number (integer if you ran the block in reverse) for each full lap completed, decimal for each rep completed on an incomplete lap. Examples:

  • In July, Jenny completed 3 full laps and 16 reps of sit-ups. Jenny’s July race day number is 3.16  …[3 full laps + .16 sit-ups]
  • In June, Rashard completed 4 full laps and 7 reps of burpees (so close; you’ll get 5 next month, Rashard!). Rashard’s June race day number is 4.67  …[4 full laps + .20 sit-ups, .20 push-ups, .20 mountain climbers, and .7 burpees]

    Party in the USA

It’s been hot out.  Like stupid hot.  Like run your AC all day hot even though your electric bill is going to be $300 next month. Like taking a shower to cool off from your shower hot.  So waking up early ass o’clock on a holiday to engage in some free fitness was a way better alternative than, say, running a 5k and/or a 10k in 96 degree heat and a million percent humidity (which many of the tribe did this week).

But like zombies in the fog, the tribe walked through the haze of the Providence sunrise to engage in what turned out to be an team competition to celebrate America’s independence – the Colonists vs the Red Coats, if you will. read more

Peachtree Road Race & July Events for the Win! (ATL)

June was a crazy month. I mean, we had a stretch of 7 days of straight NP ATL action. So in July, we’re taking a step back and slowing it down.

…just kidding. It’s already the first week and we have events happening non-stop!

We kick off the first week of July with a handful of events around one of the world’s largest 10ks – the Peachtree Road Race. If you’re in town visiting ATL for the 4th, running the race, or cheering at the race, come work out with us!

    July 3

Peachtree Road Race Expo | 12 -2 PM | Georgia World Congress Center

We’re teaming up with Back On My Feet Atlanta, who has graciously allowed us to work at their expo booth during their Treadmill Challenge. From 12-2pm, we’ve got a group of NOVEMBER PROJECT runners on the treadmill running to raise money for BOMF. If you don’t know much about them, they are a great, national organization that combats homelessness through the power of running, community support, and essential employment and housing resources. You’ll hear more about them soon, because we’re hosting a workout with them later in July!

If you can’t run but want to donate money to their cause, here’s the link to our page, listed under Tribe Leader Alexa’s name.
