Now that the weather in Montréal has officially dropped close to the freezing point, it is time to start thinking on how to be “weatherproof”. Actually, almost everyone can work out safely in cold weather. We know this at November Project. No temperature is too low to exercise outdoors as long as you suit up to minimize cold weather risks. Some of us proposed a few recommendations after the workout today that I would like to share with you all. SO, here is YOUR ACTION PLAN for being weatherproof – Canadian style:
I am what I yam [MTL]
WISCONSIN NOTES:
- Happy Halloween motha ‘uckas
- The tribe doesn’t know what pumpkins are. All veggies (and fruits) are created equally
- No one in the tribe is born in August (or no one likes Jeremy)
- We ate candy as part of the workout so if you slept in today, you missed out big time
- Shout out to Benedicte who makes boss muffins
- That sunrise. Nothing better.

What?? No announcements today?? No links to be clicked or events to be shared?? How could it be? Welp, I guess we’re just giving you all the week off to nurse your candy hangovers and start to settle into fall! Enjoy it while it lasts! Our next hype is our 1 year anniversary so keep your eyes peeled for info on the mega-workout going down on Wednesday November 22nd!
PRs and pink skies [MTL]
WISCONSIN NOTES:
- Great showing at the Ghost Race last weekend!
- PR day #killedit
- Céline is BOMB 💣
- The Crate Escape this Friday night (Oct. 27th) at 7pm. Let us know if you want your name in the hat to possibly speak by midnight Thursday – link
- Next week: “Halloween hangover” – Bring a pumpkin (or other large fruit if you’re feeling fancy) and rock a costume
Hear ye hear ye about a jam-packed week full of November Project fun, community, hugs, swears, and food:
First, on Saturday, a whole slew of NPeeps (patent pending on the name) moseyed their way over to the playing ground that we call the Old Port of Montreal and ran 8 beautiful kilometres of sunshine, music, and the occasional wall sit (and were properly rewarded with a delicious brunch and good company).
Good morning lucky! [MTL]
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, the definition of luck a is:
a: a force that brings good fortune or adversity;
b: the events or circumstances that operate for or against an individual.
However, does anything – good or bad – really happen by luck? I would argue that there is an order and precision to the functioning of our world. When an occurrence is deemed lucky, it’s in fact usually the result of a sequence of events that occurred before the “lucky” or “magical moment” actually happened.
Huckle buckle: friend to hug [MTL]
WISCONSIN NOTES:
LOTS of announcements for the coming weeks. Get your calendars ready!
- Social facebook group
- Buff order form – due Oct 14th
- Ghost race – Saturday Oct 21st at 9 29am
- Crate escape – Friday Oct 27th at 6 59pm
- Bring a die (i.e. singular of “dice”) next week
- Keep laughing, smiling, and having friend-on-friend dance-offs

This morning was amazing. 40 beautiful bodies jumped, sprinted, and burpee-ed under a gorgeous sunrise. The tribe was fierce and the vibe was right. Kudos to everyone for working hard and smiling big! More importantly, kudos for some of the most creative interpretive huckle buckle inspirations that this world was ever graced with. Some honourable mentions include Gilla’s creative floppy fish, and Will being stepped on as a human dance floor. That’s true commitment if we ever did see it. As the sun rises later and the mornings become cooler, it’s the warm (and absurd) dance moves that will keep us waking up and coming to this crazy adventure that we call November Project.
Sh** happens [MTL]
Let’s face it… sh** happens. It happens to all of us. Whether you are going through a divorce, you learned that your husband is cheating on you, you got an F in molecular biology, you got a DUI and lost your licence to drive, or you ate 3 Poutines and you now have permanent bowel dysfunction, whatever…these things happen. It might have been your fault (the poutine IS CLEARLY YOUR FAULT), it might not have been your fault. It might have been something that has been building up for months or something that just happened yesterday. At this point, what is important to remember is that you are NOT alone. We are all dealing with our sh**, it’s how we plan to deal with it that will make us who we are.
Post half-marathon PR day [MTL]
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Oasis Montréal Marathon is usually a sign of our entrance into the autumn months of October, November and December in Montréal. Fourteen degrees – 14C (58F) weather is the typical weather we expect in this time of year but like many of North Eastern cities, Montréal has been hit with extreme weather and humid conditions. So hot and humid that it forced the Montreal Marathon organizers to cancel this year’s Montreal Full Marathon. A first I believe. Fortunately, runners had the option to run the half-marathon distance at an earlier start in order to control heat conditions.
Call me maybe [MTL]
Wisconsin notes:
- Call me maybe: Adorable theme yet killer workout
- #NPGiveBack: clothing/shoe donations for Réfugiés Montréal
- Trails in motion viewing NP group outing (Friday: Sept. 22), link here
- Montreal marathon cheer station (Sunday: Sept. 24) NP MTL x Yamajo x ELRC x Ciele, link to the exact meetup location here

This morning’s workout was an NP fave, inspired by a classic tune that has graced the ears of young and old throughout the years. (Okay okay, so maybe Carly Rae Jepsen is no Beatles, but I bet we had you fooled with the sweet, smooth, rhythm in the bounce!)
But seriously, look at how freaking fun this stuff was:
Bulgare ou Russe ? [MTL]
Cooler weather advantage [MTL]
Over the past few weeks, we have seen the days slowly getting shorter and shorter to the point that this morning’s workout almost started in the dark. September calls for Autumn weather and… some kickass workouts. Now that we have the hot and muggy summer months behind us, we could get back to what us Canadians know best: to workout in colder weather. But, what is a better – a hot or cold weather workout? It all depends on what we’re trying to accomplish.
