The Rock ‘n’ Roll Oasis Montréal Marathon is usually a sign of our entrance into the autumn months of October, November and December in Montréal. Fourteen degrees – 14C (58F) weather is the typical weather we expect in this time of year but like many of North Eastern cities, Montréal has been hit with extreme weather and humid conditions. So hot and humid that it forced the Montreal Marathon organizers to cancel this year’s Montreal Full Marathon. A first I believe. Fortunately, runners had the option to run the half-marathon distance at an earlier start in order to control heat conditions.
The November Project cheer squad was in place to cheer fellow NP tribe members and running crew friends. It always a magical moment to see runners come up the hill at Berri and turn on Cherrier. This must be the worst spot for them on the course and we were there cheering them on at exactly the moment the needed it most. Good job Montréal, you haven’t been so beautiful in a while.
Today’s post-half-marathon workout got me feeling something special! These NP MTL tribe members never fail to impress me. After a blistering hot ½ marathon, they still came out this morning to test their legs against our difficult PR workout that mainly consists of running up and down a hill in Old Montreal. Where most athletes would just turn, press the snooze button, and go back to bed, our tribe members “just showed up” with a mile on their faces and tackled the gruesome hill of Place Jacques-Cartier an average of 16 to 18 times. Whoa!!! Keep it up guys. You are an inspiration to all of us and easily make my week every Wednesday morning. I am proud to be part of your TRIBE!
