A true test of patience [MTL]

WISCONSIN NOTES:

  • Our first parkade workout
  • Train was never-ending: 20 minutes of waiting 😉
  • First week of Winter Recruitment challenge. Bring those friends and family members y’all!

What to say of our workout this morning? It was our first ever semi-indoor parkade workout at November Project Montréal! Hope you enjoyed it. We try to keep it new and fresh every week and we thought that a workout within the open-aired parking garage would give us an added challenge. The ramp up to the second level was a personal favourite. Just the right incline to get the legs worked up and add that extra spice to our mornings. You guys really crushed it this morning considering a part of the group was stuck behind the never-ending train (20 minutes) and couldn’t join the fun. This tested your patience and weatherproofness. You’ve passed the test 🙂 read more

One year in 45 minutes [MTL]

WISCONSIN NOTES:

  • Themed calendar workout, pretty bad (good) puns
  • Goals goals goals
  • The Nation Run this Sunday

HAPPY NEW YEAR TRIBE! Yes, technically last week was the first of the year, but since we have a very travel-y tribe, today was our real reunion! The hugs flew, the stories rolled, the bodies sweat. ‘Twas a good one!

Thanks for starting the year off so right this morning by humouring the worst of puns (I mean come on. “MAY I have some more abs?” Who comes up with this shit!) read more

Tips for 2018 [MTL]

With the holiday season behind us, many of us have indulged in retrospection and in reevaluating some of their life choices. New Year’s resolutions are an opportunity for all those who have failed to start making the changes that they said they would have made.

Well, now is your chance to sit down and prepare a list of NP resolutions you want to make for 2018. Since the majority of people fail to stick to their resolution, we at NP Montréal thought you would need all the help you can get. Here is a list of 3 SIMPLE & ACHIEVABLE NP New Year’s Resolution Ideas and how to achieve each of them read more

Nordic warriors [MTL]

WISCONSIN NOTES:
IT WAS SO FUCKIN’ COLD… but nothing stops us 🙂

Mother nature made it a point to keep us humble by setting us up with -32°C/-26°F weather for this last workout of 2017! This has to be one of the coldest days we got since we started November Project here is Montréal – since last winter was pretty mild compared to other years. If today’s weather is any indication of what is to come for the New Year… 2018 will be frigid. We just might need to create our very own -32°C badge 🙂 read more

12 days of NP-mas [MTL]

WISCONSIN NOTES:

  • Following last week’s Chanukah workout was this week’s Christmas-themed one!
  • The great onion exchange of 2017
  • This blog is 90% pictures
  • Merry Hoho ya filthy animals! (Did I do that right?)

This morning was not a cold one, but rather an icy one. Luckily, the tribe stepped up and showed up to work out. Even if all of Montreal is a big slip n’ slide and even if mountain climbers, inchworm, and burpees all ended up looking like the same mess of scrambling legs, you all did it. What exactly did you do? Well, a few reindeer-related things, but also this! read more

A little bit of Hanukkah for everyone [MTL]

WISCONSIN NOTES:

  • November Project MTL holiday dessert potluck party last Monday was a blast!
  • Happy Hanukkah everyone! Hence the theme of the workout this week
  • #NPadoreMTL: First serious snowfall of the season and the tribe came out strong. Long live MTL!

What a week! The week started off with an awesome party at Mila’s place (Thanks MILA!) for the first annual November Project MTL Holiday Dessert potluck party. What a yummy evening. Big Thanks to everyone for showing up and baking the sweetest desserts in Montréal. We had everything: spice cake, latkas, pannetone, rice crispies squares (or notJ), cookies, cupcakes, donuts, etc. I do not think I have eaten so many sweet cakes and bites in my entire life. The ambiance was super festive and everyone contributed to make the event a memorable one. If you missed it, mark your calendars for next year! This event is not to miss!!! read more

Lean on me [MTL]

WISCONSIN NOTES:

  • No matter what your struggle is, we are here for you to lean on (and thanks for letting us lean back)
  • NP potluck desserts/drinks Monday Dec 11th at 7:30pm
  • Winter #weatherproof tips (aka buy waterproof mittens and wrap your toes)

This morning was for warm and fuzzies. You show up to this thing weekly and smile and hug, but you never know who needed that hug more than usual today or whose day you have truly made by telling them how strong they look. This morning we took a moment to acknowledge that stuff. Whether it’s loss, school/work stress, heartbreak, anxiety, depression, or fear, we have all been in that place and we can all relate to those moments where it feels so hard dragging ourselves out of bed and putting on a smile. I just want to remind you that your feelings are so valid (and normal) and you are allowed to feel all of those things. I also want to remind you that we are here for the hugs and the fuck yeahs and the little things (which often end up being big things) that we can offer. It’s cooler than cool that you still come on those days. It’s actually amazing. What’s also amazing is the impact of your actions on others on the days that your cup is a little more full. Someone needed that extra squeeze, that super real smile, and that little bit of silliness in their day. read more

Saudade [MTL]

WISCONSIN NOTES:

  • This week was PR day (2 versions) – the tribe crushed it once again!
  • Positivity Award is MIA. Reward given to person that finds it 🙂
  • Positivity Award was “handed” anyway to our favourite lift and kickass Triathlete Gilla! So well deserved. Thanks for being here every week…
  • Tribe is amazing….you all know this!
  • Save the date: NP Montreal Holiday bash coming mid-December. Date TBD

“Saudade” is beautiful word of Portuguese origin that evokes a sense of incompleteness. A deep emotional state of nostalgic or profound melancholic longing for an absent something that one loves. Moreover, it often carries a repressed knowledge that the object of longing might never return. One English translation of the word is missingness, although it might not convey the feeling of deep emotion attached to the word “saudade”. Stronger forms of saudade might be felt towards people and things whose whereabouts are unknown, such as a Positivity Award. read more

One year of love, hugs, and sappy blog posts [MTL]

WISCONSIN NOTES:

  • Projet Sweat Montréal –> November Project Montréal’s 1 year birthday. This post is a sappy one. You’ve been warned.
  • Shout out to Sue, Nancy, and Sophie for the treats provided!! Simply delicious and clearly baked with lots of love (we could really taste it!!)
  • Next week is PR day (2 versions will be offered) + tagging (so bring your gear to get November Project sprayed across the front!).
  • Keep being amazing. Oh who am I kidding, you don’t need a reminder ❤️

Let’s talk about something remarkable. Let’s talk about sweaty strangers that high 5 and hug until they are strangers no more. Let’s talk about the fact that you most likely know the favourite candy, movie, board game, and city of 50 people that you might not have ever met. What about the worst haircut they’re ever had, the most empowering person in their life, and a million other things about them? How is it that you know who hates burpees the most, whose laugh echoes the deepest, and whose dance moves simply cannot be tamed. Let’s talk about how this: read more
