This morning was filled with all sorts of weird shit that it could only mean and be November Project Baltimore. And when I say weird, I mean dinosaurs…well just one…was involved. And it was on me. So I’m not quite sure what that implies…. But needless to say a stegosaurus made an appearance that was not soon to be forgotten. Hashtag attempt-at-a-shoefie.
Fridays in Charm City
You heard right – Fridays are coming to November Project Baltimore, starting August 8th! What YOU need to know:
Guest Post: Nick Mueller – from the bed to the trails
Nick Mueller showed up early one pledge morning, just rolling out of bed and joining this crazy bunch of hooligans. He was first dubbed ‘Sleepy Nick’ that morning but over the course of months of attendance, double workouts, and true #NP_BAL spirit, he tossed his nickname and became our ever so dependent: Nick Mueller. This is his NP story.
It was more than paint fumes (BAL)
This morning I got high. Not your average oh-hey-it’s-4:45-on-a-Wednesday-morning-here-goes-NP type of loopy. Not even your usual close-contact-with-sweaty-bodies-with-newbies type of excitement. It may have been a high from the excessive amounts of spray paint…but it probably most likely (okay fine, 95%) came from the fact that the tribe is growing and the proud mama in me is expanding to epic proportions. I mean epic. I should probably stop telling newbies to make good choices and to have a good day, and leaving sweet notes in their brown bag lunches, but I won’t. Because that’s me. But also because I’m f*cking proud of the work that has been done here by all in Charm City.
Congrata-frickin-lations Folks! (BAL)
I’m not sure what happened while I was away gallivanting around Denver but the tribe grew up. I came back and boy did I LURNT TODAY! Here are the important things I found out:
1. The 5:30AM group is now large enough to require an actual bounce. Turns out Baltimore is full of looney tunes who like waking up early as much as I do. Fuck yeah 5:30, lets get weird. I promise you…5:30 will be nothing if not weird. Ridiculous costumes are encouraged.
Way Back Wednesday (BAL)
Today we rocked workout old-school. Maybe not by the type of music we listened to (“Turn Down” is definitely aged the last few months, maybe?) or the gear we sweated through (#grassrootsgear is ALWAYS in style). But we DID throw workout back to THE stairs *insert heaven gates opening ahhhhh here.*
Permanent, Sweaty Embrace (BAL)
When you start sweating during the ten-foot walk from the front door to your car, you know that day’s workout is going to be fun. We still haven’t figured out why Mother Nature wants all of our workouts to take place with the “hot yoga” setting turned on, but we’re just rolling with it.
Birthday Burpees and Taking Numbers (BAL)
We followed him around, shouting for him across the field. We ran up to the crown, looked him deep in the eyes, and gave him 5 burpees. Not just any burpees. Birthday burpees. But that was only if we were lucky enough to get a ‘0’ in our ten-digits. But he loved it – every.single.birthday.burpee. Today we honored our amazing co-leader, Patrick, on his birthday.
“Wait, did everyone do three?” (BAL)
Sometimes, you just need to run: break away from the herd, pretend you’re outrunning a cheetah or a zombie of sorts, and just go – dodging pillars and bushes and twigs, ready to pick up speed at a moment’s notice. Wait….is it only me? Oh….interesting. Well, while I was racing through the Pride Lands escaping the wildebeest herd that trampled Simba’s father (RIP Mufasa), some sexy running legs took the stage for this week’s PR race.
#bmore_giving (BAL)
Charm City has treated all of us well: crab legs, Natty Bohs, inner harbor tourist madness, and all. And every single week, we take over Federal Hill/Rash Field without fail; blasting some jams (can’t go without some Bey in the morning) and encouraging passerbys to be spontaneous and join us. And taking all humor and witty comments aside: the Baltimore tribe stepped up today and gave back.
