Racecars and PR’s

It’s RACE WEEK IN INDY!!!  And Indianapolis is all aflutter as we gear up for the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday.  The tribe earned their Memorial Day weekend by throwing down some real hot laps on our own race day.  The War Memorial resembled the Snake Pit (with slightly less puke), as many of the tribe donned their “Indy 500 best” which included some of the finest jorts, American Flag tanks, Dream Team jersey’s, trucker hats and cut-offs this side of 16th street. read more

Werbe’s Last Stand…French Cries for Breakfast (IND)

Bittersweet.  That is the one word to describe today’s workout.  With one of the largest turnouts I have ever seen for both sessions as well as a record number of “doublers”, the NP_IND tribe came out in force to show the love for Bobbie’s last day.  Her farewell post is forthcoming and will be undoubtedly be very sweet, thoughtful, and insightful.  Which is pretty much the opposite of my blogs, so I will allow her to address her departure. read more

NP Ninja Warrior Race Day (IND)

While American Ninja Warrior was filming blocks away on the circle, the NP Ninja Warriors were swinging swords like shinobi at the War Memorial.  Last day of April means race day, and we had some Goldilocks conditions today for setting PR’s.  Sit-ups (50), Push-ups (50), Mountain Climbers (50), Burpees (25)…all with up-and-overs in between.  I think we could have shown those ninjas a thing or two. read more

Tik Tok, on the Clock (IND)

The Work:

After a rousing Ke$ha-inspired* bounce, today’s workout kicked off with a variation of the standard “up-and-over” that #NP_IND tribers are all too familiar with.  After starting on the north side and running up, around, and down the south stairs, the task was to “demand a hug” then do 10 Russian Twists before heading back up the south stairs.  Once to the top, there was the option to either A) Cartwheel or B) Bear Crawl along the west side of the War Memorial.  Back down on the north landing, it was another hug demand before 10 box jumps and repeat until time was up. read more

Mustache Dash – Don’t Skip the Dip

The Workout:

We gave the north side of the War Memorial a rest today as we broke out the mustache flight pattern starting at the south side.  Tribe members got familiar with the south stairs by running up, touching the gold door and coming right back down.  Then off to the east side of the memorial, via the sidewalk, where they hit the deck and did walking planks.  Back to the south side and up the stairs, but not before grabbing the planters for some tricep dips.  After touching the south door again coming back down, it was off to the west side where jumping lunges awaited.  Back to the south side and this time it was incline and/or decline push-ups before touching the south door again and repeating the formation.  The magic number today for reps was 12. read more

Hump Day. Race Day. Let’s Play!

Race Day doesn’t get easier; you just get better at it.  But, if it were easy, it wouldn’t be worth waking up so early in the morning to crush that shit, would it?  A few newbies and a few new(er) members got to experience race day for the first time and prove to the world what badasses they are.  As if that was ever a question. read more

Gettin’ messy with y’all! (IND)

Spring is officially up in this biyatch, and there was much rejoicing.  The weather was great and the south side of the memorial was greater, as we broke out the old “Hot Mess” workout.  Grab a partner and dosey doe (editor’s note – dat dosey doe).  One person runs the south stairs while their partner does burpees at the bottom….followed Superman’s, finally, a plank.  Once the rotation has finished, the partners pull the old switcharoo on who runs the stairs.  Repeat until swole. read more

For the Great One-Eight (IND)

Indy Notes:

  1. For all you #weatherspoof cities (LAX, SD, MIA, SF, etc.) today was one of those days that those of us who have winter, feel sorry for you. You have to experience the harsh of winter to really appreciate a morning like this…and we did.  Mother Nature had her shit TIGHT this morning.  65F with a small sprinkle just to cool it down.  Spring is getting ready to settle in and we are not mad about it.
  2. Indy will always love #18. Peyton Manning put the Colts on the map and has done so much for this city.  Only fitting we dedicate today’s workout to him on the week he decided to hang up his cleats and his XXXL helmet.
  3. First time we have had some newbies in a while (we have the weather to thank for that), BIG UPS to all of you for crushing this workout. Thanks for showing up and keep on coming…it only gets better from here.  We’ve got a hug and an ass slap awaiting you every Wednesday morning, so don’t leave us hangin!
  4. To the entire #NP_IND tribe – I checked webster.com for the definition of “bad-fucking-assery” and your picture was there. Also, it ends in a “y” so it must be an adverb?
  5. After being a co-leader for almost 5 months I finally have my own log in for the blog. Looks like I can’t troll other tribes posts as Bobbie any longer.  Consider yourself lucky Virginia Beach!

The Workout:

The magic number of reps was 18 (obvi), as the tribe started off the circuit with Bronco Kicks (also known as Donkey Kicks), before taking off up the north stairs, touching the gold door and heading to the east side where we did suicides.  After two up-and-backs, it was down the south stairs where triceps dips awaited at the bottom.  I dip, you dip, we dip and up the stairs we go where we make our way along with west side of the memorial with a Colts Crawl (aka Bear Crawl) until we reach the north stairs, head down to the street and start the circuit over again until the clock ran out.  After it was all said and done, we had a little two minute drill of our own to end the workout.  Quick feet with a burpee every time the whistle was blown.  OMAHA!! read more
