WE BROUGHT ON A 3RD CO-LEADER THIS MORNING! Dom is here and we’re so happy to have her! Dom has been coming out to NP for nearly three years, she is always making connections and working hard.  Dom is warm, welcoming and fit as hell.  She can crush burpees all day long with the fittest person out there and yet she can also make a newcomer feel comfortable and safe.  She is a natural leader and we are so fired up to have her on the team.  She was like a fish in water this morning, and I know she is going to help us take things to the next level this summer. Dom had this to say: read more

Everest for Breakfast

Wisconsin Notes:

-we climbed Everest

-Friday’s start on Friday

-FunRun/ social/ awards/ brews Saturday night

-Ashlyn won Shabooya

Surviving this winter (and spring, or winter Part 2 as I like to call it) in Winnipeg is like climbing Everest. It is physically and mentally exhausting, you think you’re nearing the end but it just keeps going, you’re at risk for frostbite and loosing limbs.  But also like climbing Everest, there are some beautiful moments along the way and you’re exponentially more likely to make it to the top if you’re part of a team. So thank you to this team for showing up for the long, arduous climb. I’d like to tell you that we’re nearing the top, but I’m suffering from oxygen deprivation and snow blindness, so what do I know?! The blind leading the blind. read more

Slip slidin’ Into Spring

Wisconsin Note:

-This is our house

-V slippery, only a few slips

-Friday’s start at the Legislative, April 6

-Saturday, April 7th, social event

Warmer weather and slippery streets this morning. Y’all showed up in solid numbers and we thank you! It was tough planning this because half the Forks site is either under water or under ice, so we stuck by the port stairs today and minded our footing. We ran some stairs, found out everyone’s dream vacation destination, and did a zillion push ups and squat jumps! read more

The Greatest Skate

Wisconsin Notes:
-The Great Skate was Great

This year, yet again, The Great Skate lived up to it’s name.  This race has grown and gotten bigger and better every year.  Yet the genesis of this event is quintessentially Winnipeg and November Project; every year Derek and some of his friends would look at the weather, decide it was liable to be the coldest night of the year, and go out and skate the river trail with some wee cheeky brews and call it the Great Skate. It was rogue, it was rough, it laughed in the face of winter and it was slapping a little bit of hype on a seemingly ordinary event.  When Derek became a leader and brought this tradition to the November Project Winnipeg, the event took on a life of it’s own.  The Great Skate has become an entire day event that celebrates our city, our river, our winter, our tribe and our fortitude. It would be impossible to adequately describe the day, so the remainder of this blog will largely be photos of the magic and thank you’s to the people who helped us make it happen. read more

-Sunday Feb 4th, The Great Skate, 9am
-Sunday Feb 4th, Chain for Change, 1pm
-Evan and Nate have nice legs

Today it was practically balmy out, so we took it to the Bridge! Derek ran into Dr. Tam on the river trail last night and strong armed him into verballing, so we were lucky enough to have the good doctor lead us in a rousing round of warm-up Bop It.  Then we did a super weird plank circle, birthday month, noise making, thing? And rounded it all out with the trusty ol’ bridge challenge which is always guaranteed to make you smile and make you sweat!

Coach Scott handed the Shabooya award off to Nathan. Nate is always running front of the pack, he’s fit, fast and friendly. Nate can routinely be seen on Strava throwing down a casual Saturday consisting of a run, followed by a bike workout, followed by a ski, followed by a night bike (you know, just for fun), CASUAL.  You want some inspiration to get out the door and do something outside, look to this guy! Nathan, keep doing how you’re doing, we’re glad you’re here! read more
