Roses and Sunshine (SD)

Today in San Diego it was all about the roses. Or at least where the roses should have been.

But honestly, who needs roses when you have sunshine and 100 or so smiling faces. Plenty of pretty for me.

I could recap the events of this morning (office chair bounce, workout, burpees, human plank centipede)… oh wait, I just did. read more

Hello from the other side (SD)

This post is being written from the other (re: not fun) side of the injury deck.

This morning you guys raced PR day. You GOT to race PR day. You were lucky enough to be able to run up and down that hill, do countless burpees, dry heave, and sweat.

You didn’t HAVE to do it. You GOT to do it. read more

Thirty Dirty Christmas Trees (SD)

We’ve really been feeling winter HARD here in San Diego. Today we had tribe members showing up in full down jackets, we had frozen hands doing push-ups, and yes we still had Christmas trees.

For our last Monday at our old stomping ground of Kate Sessions Park, we dug through the archives and brought back some fan favorites: the Dirty Thirty and taking photos with Christmas trees. read more

The #weatherspoof-ness Continues (SD)

Yesterday the city of San Diego got the worst rain that we’ve seen in years. El Nino hit with full force. No joke, I’m talking Ocean Beach flooding, cars floating away, parking garages under water. This El Nino storm is supposed to continue again, including lightening this time, starting, well, any minute. read more

The Year of El Nino (SD)

So, our resident meteorologist (Stefanie) tells me that we should be expecting El Nino this winter in San Diego. What does that mean? It means babies falling from the sky. Right? Oh, no. Ok. I hear it means rain falling from the sky. Lots of rain.

Well today was apparently the beginning of that, and if today was any indication the rain ain’t no thang. I think it sprinkled approximately 10 times while we were playing tag and that was it. read more

Great Pyramids of Balboa Park (SD)

Today we continued along the theme of “Challenge Yourself” and braved the Icelandic temperatures (hey, it was in the 30s and low 40s this morning) as we climbed the great pyramids of Balboa Park.

Sandwiched between partner squat holds as a warm up and Sally squats as a finisher, you were asked to pick your least favorite exercise. You know, that one that makes you go “Oh Man” when we tell you it’s part of the workout that day. Then you did 5 reps of that exercise, ran a lap around the international houses (which doesn’t include Iceland #lame), did 10 reps, ran a lap, did 15 reps, ran a lap. And so on and so forth until you reached the halfway point of the workout when you were at the top of that great pyramid. Slowly, but surely, you climbed back down that pyramid until you got to 0 (or time was called). read more

Time Traveling (SD)

Today we traveled back in time. Yes, we started our #ChristmasWishList month of #MayhemMonday, heading back to Hill Street and Sunset Cliffs as our first stop, but we also traveled back to a time when our group was a tad bit smaller, but just as fierce, funny, and awesome as ever.

Our first wish list stop saw about 40 or so people #justshowup for hills on hills on hills with a side of planks for breakfast. Included in this group were many that raced at the North Face Endurance Challenge in SF this weekend. Not included in this group were a lot of tribe members that chose their beds over some of the best hugs, sweat, and views that San Diego has to offer. I think we all know who made a better choice today. read more

Ready, Set, Gobble (SD)

Today we held November Project San Diego’s first annual Turkey Trot.

It was a success. Track your time HERE.

Luis won, in a time of 18:something, and earned himself a lemon bundt cake.

Mark came in second, in a time of 18:something plus a few seconds, and won a Ragnar Trail belt buckle that he may already own. read more

Harvard Schmarvard (SD)

The Harvard hype is unreal and it’s been following me since college.

Going to school on the OTHER side of the river in Boston from Harvard and MIT, you knew you may not have been the smartest kids in the city but you also knew you were more athletic and way more fun.

Fast forward a decade or so, and we’re STILL getting the Harvard hype. “No workout is as hard as the Stadium in Boston” “No other city stands a chance against Boston’s workouts” “Harvard Stadium is the home of November Project.” read more
