Last night was Fat Tuesday, so naturally the entire city of San Francisco was ready for…um…skinny Wednesday? McClayton set up the tribe in pairs of equal ability, so the already chaotic workout could flow with an “organized chaos” feel. In reality, we just wanted to see people team up who did not previously know each other because the exercises assigned were of the awkward nature. And nothing makes the McClayton happier than strangers becoming friends as they assume a compromising position for the sake of toned triceps.
You Smell What I’m Stepping In? San Francisco Prom 2014
San Francisco is classing up the November Project world. For some reason, completely unknown to the McClayton, racers are now dressing up in their Sunday best for PR Wednesday. Whether it be Brad Geswein’s floor length sparkle gown, or Tantek’s three piece suit, the tribe looked oddly good as they gathered in Alamo Square this morning. Word on the street is that people are even talking about possibly eliminating cursing from their NPSF routine. But we all know that’s a fucking lie.
Friday’s Quickly Becoming “Bring Your Parents to NP” in San Francisco
Two weeks ago, Phil and Marla Zipin took San Francisco by storm. They had milkshakes at Ghiradelli Square, rode tricycles across the Golden Gate Bridge, and purchased their first pair of skinny jeans in the Mission. News spread like wildfire from coast to coast, as many of our newest members are not San Francisco residents, but rather the parents of the tribe members. With the newest outbreak of the late-adulthood-pre-retirement age group utilizing social media, parent’s are now “liking” our status updates, sharing our photos, and visiting our blog at alarming rates. There was even one occasion where Sam Livermore’s mother clicked on the NPSF homepage 87 times in a 2 hour period. The Zipin coverage received record breaking traffic, but unfortunately it was not all positive.
House of Cards Premieres at SF Workout
Any workout that ends with a plank-off between Pete Kruse and Ben Fox is a successful workout in my opinion. Mark it off the list! Check! Congratulations to all the plank-off contestants, particularly the winner Pete. You have inspired us all to go home and attempt an 8 minute plank. I am actually planking while writing this post. Which is why it shall be a short one.
Bike Gang Eats Small Dogs (i.e. Barnum) For Breakfast
There is a new gang on the streets of San Francisco. As if this city didn’t already have enough on it’s plate; a drought, Google bus blockades, people having difficulty selling their 22 million dollar homes…etc. etc. Now there is a group of young males (and soon to be females) ripping up the streets of SF on two wheels, some even without helmets, GASP! Made up of a eclectic group of athletic and impressively good looking men, with the token Frenchman, this gang is to be feared. So hide yo kids. Hide yo wife. And hide yo small dogs that are easily taken down by the BGSF for some early morning protein.
Mr. And Mrs. Zip Run SF
If one of the members of the SF tribe got shipped off to Alcatraz, who would it be? I am going to start this hypothetical non-sense with Mr. Jorge Moreno. Jorge would most likely end up voluntarily swimming there for fun, arrive, and be confused that there wasn’t a rave to attend, look at the guard and announce that “this shit is whack, I’m out” before hopping back in the water. Jorge, I am going to pretend that this is where you were this AM, instead of running hills with your family.
Breaking News: Nobody Died at NPSF Today
NPSF has had an influx of newbies the last 4 weeks, with numbers higher than we have ever had before, numbers higher than Laura can actually count. But the real test of consistency will come next week…the week AFTER PR Wednesday. There was sweat. There were tears. There were sweaty men crying in the corner, therefore owning both categories. But you all survived, and that’s important, because Laura doesn’t ever want a lawsuit. She will just run away. FRIDAY HILLS: Aquatic Park, in the Marina, 6:23 AM.
That time Clayton & McCloskey got lost running home, high on fumes
Has anyone seen Dan Clayton? Last we know he was running towards Ocean Beach, November Project backpack bouncing up and down, singing along to Shania Twain’s “I feel like a woman” and giggling uncontrollably. All of this may sound relatively normal, except Clayton lives in North Beach. We hope you make it home alright, Dan.
Dance Off, Pants Off in SF
As we all collected in Dolores Park this morning, an interesting observation was made. We were not alone. Just about every other boot camp in the city was setting up their selected station of the park for their morning workout. Seeing as though Clayton and Laura never quite know what is going on, or what the rules of the park are, we decided to instead just wake up all the sleeping neighbors and bust out some vicious hill repeats. Clayton sported his new Go Pro with no SD card in it so we got…nothing. No footage at all. See? We never know what’s going on. After the workout we gathered at the top of the park for a dance off pants off party where everyone got naked then ran through the park where all the boot camps were finishing their workout, ending with a nice brunch in the Mission. Only part of that is true, we didn’t actually go to brunch.
The (Non Polar) VORTEX
(Photo courtesy of Amy Leedham’s Garmin)
The #VORTEX workout is one part fitness, one part ‘never have I ever,’ and two parts musical chairs. Tribe-members run a tiny (.05mi) circle around a patch of grass in the center of Alamo Square while Clayton yells out categories. If this is a category you belong to, you report to the middle of the circle for 20 reps of a particular exercise. Consequently, we learned a lot about our tribe members today. A STARTLING amount of you believe in magic, all the girls that we’ve been hitting on are apparently already married, and there’s a handful of guys that hate sit-ups more than they want to have sex with Kate Upton. Toss in over 30 newbies, 3 visiting tribe-members, and a speedy Irishman who’s afraid of revolving doors, and you’ve got a hell of a #VORTEX going.
Thanks all for coming out! We’ll see you THIS FRIDAY for hills.
