#tribetraverbal + Know Your Tribe (Amanda Breslow)

Over the last 7 months, Tara and Maggie have been crushing their goals. From November 8th, the first week of Westside Wednesdays, until April 25th when they officially became Tribe 45, they crushed every week.

24 weeks.

For 24 weeks, they showed up every Wednesday at Drake Stadium and made a positive impact on the community. Next Wednesday is the 4th of July, it also happens to be their 10th official workout since becoming tribe #45. In celebration of America’s birthday, and to support our sister tribe, the LAX tribe will be #traverbaling to Drake Stadium next Wednesday.  That’s right, THE WHOLE LAX TRIBE is heading over to Drake stadium to bounce and crush stairs with the West LA crew! 6:30 am we come together as one tribe for what is sure to be an epic morning. #justshowup read more

Brick city

I’ve always enjoyed traverbaling to another tribe. Not only did I get to experience the NP community on a larger scale, but I got to rep my tribe. I’ve always been competitive, and knowing that my grassroots gear would stand out in another city, I pushed a little harder. That extra ounce of pride meant something to me. Now, I didn’t have to be the fastest at the workout, but I’d make sure that no one could say LAX didn’t work or throw out all the high 5s. In the early days, I remember hearing that we were the weirdest tribe, and that our workouts were tough. Well, we had traverbalers from Boston and Nola this week. Two tribes that I know put in work. On Wednesday, one of the traverbals said, “Damn, you guys don’t mess around out here.” They were right. From the start of 5:27 until the end of 6:27, the tribe put in outstanding effort on those hills. This morning, after the workout was over, our friends from Nola were flying high off of the tribe’s energy. I guess what I’m trying to say is, I’m proud of the effort that you all have shown, and I want to thank you for not tearing my head off when I push you to get in another lap. read more

Inclines, avocado toast, and iced coffee, OH MY!

Today’s words are provided by the queen of crab legs and iced coffee, our chief breakfast club strategist, and one of the best landladies I’ve ever had, Nikki Reese. Thank you for waving the NP flag…sort of high 😉

In the weeks leading up to this workout, I spent little time preparing and most of the time trying to figure out the damn words to the birthday booyah chant that Baltimore throws down each Wednesday to celebrate tribe members with birthdays that week. read more

B-Lot Babysitter’s Club

Today’s words are brought to you by Jeff.

Anyone that’s ever watched an NFL game has seen at least one play fall apart so badly that it makes professionals look like they’re back in the pee-wees. You know that play looked great on paper when the coaches drew it up, but when you throw twenty-two men on the field you never know how things are going to play out. read more

Jolly Babysitters

This morning, Molly and Joel kicked off our Battle of the Babysitters(#BotB)! From start to finish they created a fantastic atmosphere and managed to mix in a great workout. The rest of this blog is brought to you from the land down unda!

When I first heard about November Project, I thought I’d never be fit enough, could never be enough of an athlete to take part. But, I was in a new city, and I needed to make friends, so I just showed up at the behest of my friend Eric. read more

#APRHILLtorena

That’s a wrap folks! #APRHILL has come to its conclusion, and will be going on hiatus until #HILLVEMBER. This month has been a good one. The tribe has gotten stronger in many ways. Our legs are much closer to obtaining mountain goat status, our minds have gained the confidence that we can push further than we previously believed, and the energy of the tribe has gotten brighter. It is a common belief that healthy competition will bring out the best in people. This month we incorporated a friendly challenge with Team Kait vs Team Mess. From day one, there was a noticeable shift at the workouts. There were jokes and friendly trash talk. Seeing someone crushing it that had the same color rubber band as you was all the motivation you needed. Recruiting people became a moment of pride as you could claim them for your team. As we go into Justin Timberlake’s favorite month, let’s keep that energy flowing. read more

Hill meets Stairs

Just like that, week 3 of #APRHILL has come to an end. Next week will be an emotional week for me. First up is PR day. A torturous combination of Widowmaker repeats and a burpee ladder. My heart tells me I can do it. My brain sends every chemical receptor in its arsenal to try and get me to stop. My legs remain silent while having that look on their face that my mom had when I was a kid, and I knew that once I got home, I had hell to pay. So yea, Wednesday is going to be great! Friday’s breakfast of chompions is my favorite set of triplets, Micheltorena. First hill, easy peasy. Second hill, lemon squeezy. Third hill, yea Frodo would have just kept the ring if this was the way to Mordor. read more

Deck’o’Hills

On the 5th day of hills, #teammess took the lead! We’ll be sending out a search party and filing a missing persons report for 6:27’s #teamkait. We’ve got 3 days of hills left so it is still anyone’s game, but #teamkait you gotta #justshowup before things get out of hand.

Let’s check out today’s totals: read more

Duane Aprhill

#APRHILL week 1 is in the books! Let’s check in on our current score totals.

  • 331 – Team Kait
  • 299 – Team Mess

Currently Team Kait is holding on to a 32 point lead, but with 3 full weeks left to go, it is anyone’s game! Remember, anyone that you recruit to NP, automatically is on your team. Team Kait, now is a good time to practice being introverted and maybe some long solo meditation sessions! read more
