Seven Wednesdays (MSP)

Boston was there, Seven Sundays brought a crate filled with mueslies, and Cameron “The Wing Man” Wing powered through his final MSP workout before heading west. We got things moving with a lap down to the river level and back. From there we divided the morning into two separate workouts.

First we threw down a power circuit on the stairs between “The Mill” and Guthrie theater. We circulated around reps of box jumps, core “yoga”, pushups, and burpees. Each circulation was culminated with a fast lap through the Guthrie Plaza. After four total circulations, we headed for the hills. read more

The Flat-Lander (MSP)

Yesterday at Mill City Museum was the bomb. Record setting amount of sunshine. It was fucking bright out there… but we persevered. Summer is the best!

The workout itself strayed from MSP’s usual. Instead of crushing hill repeats or stair loops, we kept things on flat land. We kicked it off with a warm-up across the Mississippi River where everyone touched the East bank with a finger before heading back. Then we got to business. read more

Step, Jump, Bear-Crawl (MSP)

The mornings are bright and promising these days. Shorts dominate, and sunglasses are acceptable. The tribe trickled in. The tribe got moving.

All said & done, we journeyed the “Platinum Ring” ten times this morning. The “Ring” consists of two bridges, stairs, straits, and arguably the best view of Minneapolis. We ran, hopped, bear-crawled, and sprinted the stairs until eight laps were under our belt. The last two laps were weaved into a core rotation of jumping, planking, etc. read more

Box Jumpin’ & Hill Humpin’ (MSP)

The day is good. The rest will be good. It started off fucking great!!

We laid our ordinary shirts down, and picked them back up as #GrassrootsGear, featuring MSP’s signature cherry in the spoon. Shorts and tanks were out, hyped on the fifty degree morning. IMG_0438

After a quick warmup, we made our way down to the East River Rd hill. 23 minutes on the clock. Up and down the hill as many times as possible. In the middle of each hill loop, tribesmen stopped for a quick circuit of box-jumps, pushups, dips, and Flying Dutchmen. Then to another attack on the hill, hard. Legs were wobbling and legit sweat was pouring. We then finished with a game of “Sharks & Minnows” on Coffman’s front lawn. read more

Get your Grassroots Gear!! (MSP)

Our tribe is Weatherproof. We meet all weather with our heads high and hugs ready.

We had rain. No problem mon! Jesse Quinn was back, well tapered. And BG’s cousin Laura made her MSP debut. The workout was inspired by a NovProject MSN workout attended earlier this week by tribe leader, Ben Bauch. It consisted of a circuit with four stops along the way. Tribesmen traveled the circuit around Northrop Mall with a buddy, and completed a partner workout at each of the four stops. The last few minutes were spent hitting stairs laps on the walking bridge in front of Coffman Union. read more

Hut Hut (MSP)

The workout went down like this: Preparation lap, get the giggles flowing early. Following the lap, we found a stray football. The football quickly became ours. Everyone got at least one good chuck in, but the ball carrier of the day has got to go to Broshat. Well done Broshat. We then took the ball and our bodies on a short, unknown journey across the U-o-M campus. The journey finished atop a set of switchbacking staircases that bottom out waaaaay down below. That’s where our tribe got their money’s worth this morning. Stairs and Hills look easier from the top. FACT. read more

Stone Cold @ the Stone Arch (MSP)

Minneapolis’ tribe gathered around a new beacon this morning. Today’s workout began outside of the Mill City Museum, looking at the Mississippi River and Stone Arch Bridge. The morning was cold, nearly snowy, yet still energetic. Most of us have gotten comfortable with the fact that Minnesota has 2 Winters… OR no Spring. Still waiting on confirmation. read more

Legit Sweat (MSP)

Above Freezing. Let’s start there. Today was MSP’s first ever workout in non-freezing degrees. Hands, legs, and grass were all exposed to celebrate what we daringly call “Springtime”.

We got even warmer with the usual loop around the mall, followed by a good ol’ fashioned wheel barrel race on the lawn. Today’s main workout was six laps of stair-stepping, hopping, and sprinting around the “Platinum Ring”. Each lap was broken up with mini lunge, burpee, and hoistee sessions. After a week long hiatus, Brent B returned… and crushed the loops. Strong effort was received from all. We used some spare time at the end for a little extra core, and a continuous relay to make sure the people got their money’s worth. read more

Turkey Day in April (MSP)

MSP tribesmen arrived to more than just the beat of their own pounding feet this morning. The increased temperature (still freezing) finally allowed our non-lithium technology to perform. Music! Phat Beats from our hometown heroes Brother Ali and Slug gave this morning an extra pop that’ll be welcomed in weeks to come. read more
