Today’s blog post is brought to you by NPSD Tribe Member X. We all show up for different reasons, with different backgrounds, different problems, different motives, and different expectations. But the one thing we undoubtedly share in common is clear – we show up. We show up for ourselves, we show up for our community, and we show up for each other. This morning, we noticed you, and so did Tribe Member X. But don’t take it from us…
What rain?
Lot of San Diego rain means no jungle for November Project – too much mud, too many slippery wooden stairs. No worries, we adjust – to the Reflection Pond! Now, I’m not going to lie, I expected a small crew this morning. Only the most hardcore of NPSDers, willing to show up in the most extreme of weather conditions…. Low 50’s. Windy. Even in the dreaded, terrifying “overcast” (dun dun duuun)!
SD/World Takeover
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, November Project can be whatever you’d like it to be. Come and workout with a smile, and end it there, or dive in head first, and take full advantage of what this movemnet has to offer. Soak in some positive vibes, and dish your own right back out.
Save Starlight
The workout was awesome. Our morning was, without a doubt, made better. We ran. We did situps and stuff. We raced. And high-fived, and laughed, and hugged. This shit is good. But that’s not what this blog is going to cover today. Today’s blog is STARLIGHT HYPE!
Pause what you’re doing, and go HERE! Then come back and finish reading.
San Diego Notes
3 Rules Guidlines of November Project:
1.) FUN. Enjoy it, smile, laugh, be merry.
2.) EFFORT. You don’t have to be the fastest, strongest, or sweatiest (most sweaty?). You simply have to try. We can and should all put in equal effort. Otherwise, why get up so damn early!
3.) Safety. Always third.
HYPE from Toronto!
This past weekend, Ashleigh, Eugene, and I ventured to a far-away land they call Toronto, Ontario, Canada, for the North Face Endurance Challenge Series, and the 4th annual November Project SUMMIT. We joined over 500 individuals (co-leaders and tribe members) from around the world, from New York to Iceland, New Orleans to Calgary, Denver to Worchester, Boston to San Fransisco, Winnipeg to Chicago, and so on and so on. 500+ people all converging because they share 1 thing in common: they all meet up every Wednesday morning (at least!) at 6:29AM to sweat, hug, and lift each other up. And although many of these people, scattered across 29 cities, were mere strangers, they now share friendship, camaraderie, and unforgettable connection.
The Full Spectrum
Near every brag-worthy quality of November Project San Diego was on display this morning at the Crystal Pier #Sunrise6K. I’d like to review this list of qualities through my lens, because this morning, shit was really, really GOOD. So, what did we do:
-We bounced in front of tourists’ condos while they looked down from their balconies, phones set to record. Our positivity spread. “What is this?” “Looks awesome.” “Hey, Peggy, come check out this group!”
LET’S HIT 250!
This morning was rad. OB Pier is awesome. The workout was tough, as usual.
But we’ve got more important things to discuss. Well, one important thing:
THIS WEDNESDAY = YEARBOOK PHOTOS.
So, simply put, just show the fuck up! Bring your brightest smile, your positive vibes, and literally EVERYONE you know. We get to have a ball every Monday and Wednesday morning, and so should they. Who is “they”, you ask? They might be a best friend who never comes out, or a relative, your favorite bartender, or that dude you always flirt with at the grocery checkout. Or maybe they’re you neighbors, or the cheery lady who pours your coffee every morning, or even that girl you somehow always see when you run on the Bay but never talk to because really what kind of conversation can you start with someone running other than, “Hey, you should come out to this FREE workout group/community/tribe!” Maybe they are people that used to come to Balboa, but have fallen back into the 10:00AM alarm clock routine. Maybe your boss. Your UPS guy. Your masseuse. Is my point landing? Invite EVERYONE! Invite 50 people and hope that 3 show up. Invite people who don’t get to experience this tribe the way you do. It’s time to show off, time to take pride in your tribe, and time to celebrate. Let’s make this Wednesday a PARTY!
Love/Hate Relationship
I LOVE PR DAY, but man is it a bitch.
A bright and happy, “Good morning… Ya’ll good!?”, then a, “Welcome to PR Day!” Followed immediately by a resounding, “awwwwwhh” or “ughhh” or “shiiiiit”. I get it, I get it, PR Day is HARD, therefore you have to WORK, and that work generally involves exiting your comfort zone, sweating a bit harder than usual, and breathing a bit more intensely. But you woke up at the ass-crack of dawn, so you might as well go for it.
Lean on Me: Wallsits.
(get it^ 😉
I’m about to hop on a plane (delayed until after the workout, for obvious reasons), so I’m going to keep this one short.
Workouts at November Project San Diego are fun, and they are hard. At the same time you’re happy and proud you woke your ass up to come to the workout, you’re cursing that decision as you climb (that damn) hill/stairs deep in the Jungle. So, in summary, it was awesome, social, and active. Wednesday morning – √.
