We’re doing it right, NPSD.

Here are the things you need to know #wisconsinnotes

If you’re new, Euge is going to make you sing, play rock paper scissors, or have the tribe repeat your name in a very culty manner.

Rock Paper Scissors is awesome.

Balboa Park is crazy beautiful.  We should all bring our friends/family visiting from out of town – mostly to show off and brag about how cool our city is. read more

Collective Efforts

Man did we SHOW UP this morning!  The tribe was big, the tribe was strong, and we all left exhausted.  I love these workouts because every week is different.  The workout is different, the group is slightly different, every once in a while it rains… but what I find most interesting is the current state of each individual – their background, mood, and current circumstances.  And this isn’t something that we all notice all the time (It would be impossible – just too many of us!)  But it’s important to recognize that, in the same way you deal with things happening outside of the workouts in your own life, everyone else is showing up under the same conditions, good or bad.  But we do something special each week- We show up and that issue fades away.  A practice in being present forced upon us.  So, show up for the individual that you know, or don’t.  Hold yourself and your tribe members accountable, because some days we need it more than others. read more

Let it RAIN!

Every AM workout with November Project puts smiles on faces, I think we can all agree.  Some mornings those smiles shine just a little brighter than others.  This morning it rained, you all said fuck it, and showed up anyway.  Hear that NP World, we are WEATHERPROOF!  You owned the rain, and your laughter lit up Balboa.  For those visiting from other cities, for those who showed up for the first time, and for those that hold it down on a weekly basis – you’re crushing it. read more

Tour de Balboa

Follow your compass!  Or someone in front of you who knows where they’re going.  Or just run around in circles.  No matter the direction, just make sure you’re moving, hopefully sweating, and most definitely smiling (unless you’re climbing PR Hill, in which case, go with whatever face gets you to the top ;).  This morning’s workout was killer, and it gave us a solid tour of our playground, Balboa Park. read more

Shaking hands to hugging strangers

So here’s the idea: I share my story, as it relates to November Project, Ashleigh shares hers, Eugene shares his, you learn a little something about us, and how things came to be. But why I’m actually excited to share my story lies in the message. Some of you know already, so just take this as a reminder, but for those of you who are new, skeptical, or even a little confused, take the next few paragraphs as a look inside what NP could be for you. We try to say it as often as possible, November Project is more than just a weekly workout, for you, for your peers, and for this community. I’d gladly wax on for hours about November Project (before even mentioning running, burpees, or fitness altogether!) So, to keep me from rambling, let’s just stick to the story of my path from firm hand shaker to warm hugger, introvert to social butterfly, from a tribe of few to a movement of many. From the top… read more

Team Hoyt San Diego

The workout at Spreckles Organ Pavillion this morning was rad.  Per usual, you all brought the energy.

…but today’s blog isn’t about the workout.  It’s about what happens outside of our weekly morning meetups…

We Celebrate

Wednesday, January 4th, 2017

On very rare occasion am I caught off guard, at a loss for words, taken aback, left speechless – you see what I’m trying to say.  Many of those rare occasions have been at November Project.  This morning, yet again, the three of us were left without words, shocked, moved (and a mix of 15 other emotions) by the generosity and compassion radiating from this weird group of misfits. read more

Better Than Bedtime: “Be Bright”

So what the heck is Better than Bedtime??  First, let’s review the ‘what’ and ‘why’, then we can get into the ‘when’ and ‘where’…

What:  A November Project running/social event scheduled outside of the regular Monday/Wednesday workouts.  We will meet, in costume, and run to a local brewery to hang and drink beers. read more

NP in November

Today’s blog post is brought to you by a newcomer to the November Project universe.  He joined us (appropriately) in November, but if I didn’t know better, I’d say he’s been around for years.  It’s always cool to see new friends come out to the workouts and really get it – the vibe, the community, the work.  If you didn’t get a chance this morning to meet our guest blogger – because you decided your bed was warmer than PR Hill, or you were to busy chasing down a PR of your own – do yourself a favor next time you see him, and say “Good morning!” read more

SHOW UP

Man was this morning good!  All of the right ingredients mixed perfectly to start the day off with a BOOM.

If you all don’t mind, I’d like to share a quick something:  Sometimes I’m not overly happy, positive, and enthusiastic.  Sometimes I have shitty days.  Sometimes I’m not stoked with the way things are going, in my life, in my city, around the world.  Sometimes I deal with things just like, well, pretty much everyone else – no matter how great life is, we all have shitty days.  But why bring it up? read more
