So what the heck is Better than Bedtime?? First, let’s review the ‘what’ and ‘why’, then we can get into the ‘when’ and ‘where’…
What: A November Project running/social event scheduled outside of the regular Monday/Wednesday workouts. We will meet, in costume, and run to a local brewery to hang and drink beers.
Why: To run and be social, of course! But really, this is an opportunity to see your tribe outside of the workout, in street cloths, not sweating, tired, or out of breath. This event is all about deepening your connection with your tribe. It’s about finally learning the name of that fast dude with the crazy curly hair, or that quiet girl with the massive smile. You know what I’m talking about – we only get to interact with our tribe for a limited amount of time each week, and sometimes that’s just not enough to truly meet everyone.
Okay, so I think you get it, right? Better than Bedtime is a simple, fun way to get us all out moving and interacting, building connections, and strengthening friendships. And of course, spreading the positive vibes, and drinking a few brews.

Why #2: Better than Bedtime 2017 will serve not only as a chance for socialization, but an opportunity to give back to an incredible local organization, Team Hoyt San Diego. For those of you who were at the workout this morning, you had the opportunity to meet James Pathman and his son Riley, key members of Team Hoyt San Diego. We are all fortunate enough to be able to get out and move, right? We meet twice a week under the pretense that EVERYONE is welcomed, and EVERYONE should be able to express themselves through movement, in an accepting, supportive environment. This exact tenant is held by Team Hoyt from coast to coast. Everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy of sport, and feel the power of community. Both this tribe, and Team Hoyt are on a mission to spread that very message. So, 25% of all sales at Helm’s Brewery for Better than Bedtime will be donated directly to Team Hoyt. This will be a great way to build excitement for the annual Team Hoyt fundraising dinner the following weekend. If you have any questions at all or would like to learn more, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Ashleigh, Eugene, or myself. And take a look at the Team Hoyt Page for some more detailed information on the organization and all of the amazing things they are doing: http://teamhoytsd.com/

Now, let’s take a look at past events…
Better than Bedtime 2015: “They Came in Twos”

While Lauren, Ashleigh, and Jessie (NPSD OGs) were sailing the NPSD ship to the Silver Fox…

…Eugene was…

…wait, that’s not Euge. And I was, I was… an afro’d member of the Blue Man Group, chasing down Father Time…??

…No matter. The tribe came out (In SD, in LA, and across the NP universe) dressed in pairs to celebrate the good times had, and the good times to come at everyone’s favorite neighborhood grassroots free fitness movement, November Project.
Better than Bedtime 2016: “Mimes vs Ninjas”

Pretty self explanatory… the tribe tip toed and pantomimed their way to OB Pier, unseen and/or unheard, adorned in shades of black and white. Sessions public welcomed us in with open arms, after a few mile jaunt through OB receiving confused stares ad hollers from the locals wondering what the hell we were doing. It was the best!
