No More #weatherspoof

We knew it wouldn’t last… We knew it couldn’t last! This East coast #weatherspoof has come to a screeching halt! We happily report, however, that it did not dwindle our numbers in the slightest.

This morning we ran the loop around The Steps, stopping at the top for five squats facing the sunrise over the city – and also at the bottom for count by two hoisties. Yep each loop gave you and a partner two more! read more

PHL: Friday = Friyay – Ya Heard

Will it ever be winter? Will it? Who cares! We’re weather proof… errr weather spoof even!

This morning was, dare I say, a hot one! We welcomed some new friends and a friend visiting us from the Chicago Tribe. We broke off into two teams, running in opposite directions on Lemon Hill. One team member did 5 burpees at their end, while the other did 8 squats and raced back to the start to see if the other was planking in waiting for them, or if they won and would wait in plank until their teammate arrived. Once reunited, they preformed 10 partner push-ups and were off to the races again! read more

PHL: Century

It’s December – So we can guess that sometime soon the days of putting our hands on the ground for extended periods of time as well as laying on our backs on the cement at our lovely Art Museum will soon come to an end (for the winter). However, since we are having such mild days, leadership thought now was as good a time as any to get those hearts and muscles pumping with one of our favorites – The #Century Workout. read more

PHL: Figure 8’s and Mashed Potatoes

The holidays are here and this year Thanksgiving took both Layo and myself away to be with family in far off lands. Neither he or I had a worry in our heads as we knew the tribe was in good hands with Adam & Richie. Truth be told, both of us took the opportunity to sleep in this morning!! Below is a look into the beautiful morning had by all on Lemon Hill. Thanks guys for taking care of “the kids” and thanks to all who make this tribe a family. read more

PHL: Pounds & Pounds

It’s not everyday that we ask something of the tribe other than –  just show up, be positive and keep moving. Yesterday, however, we asked the tribe to bring along some canned goods for Philabundance and I’m so happy to say that y’all brought 437 lbs of food to donate! Thats 437 meals we have given to those who are in need. This is an added 437 things to feel good about on this day of giving thanks! Pounds to you all! read more

PHL: It’s The Most Wonderful Time of The Year

It is marathon week in Philadelphia!

The city is a glow with folks who are stoked to be running. Folks who are stoked to cheer on thier loved ones. Folks who are inspired to run a few extra miles this week so they can plan for next year. Folks who have no idea what is going on.. but will surely be swept up by marathon fever this Sunday! read more

Team 1 & Team 2 (PHL)

So daylight savings occurred over the weekend and this morning we could see faces as the tribe gathered at The Steps for a Wednesday sweatfest. And a sweatfest it sure was! Mild temperatures this time of year have got us all turning and burning a little more!

We broke into two groups and performed, burpees, runs, lunges, bearcrawls and stair hops. It was a good, tough workout this morning, and if you missed it, sorry to hear, come on out on Friday for more shenanigans with the tribe! read more

PHL Better Than Bedtime – Nov 8

Ok PHL. The one and only Emily Saul was kind enough to spell it all out for BOS Better Than Bedtime – and as the story goes, Boston is where it all started, so we have followed her lead and adapted said blog post to suit the needs of our city/tribe. Mucho thanks Emily!! Read on folks…

PHL: Spades

Early this morning the tribe gathered at The Steps. As per usual, we bounced, we hugged, we greeted all with a hearty “GOOD MORNING” and we ran suicides to get our hearts pumping.
Today I left it up to the tribe to break down into five groups, each with a captain who had a mismash of a deck of cards. The game was simple, evens are push-ups, odds sit-ups. The twist was on the spades, which were limited in each deck. Pull a spade and the whole team planks while each team member jumps each planker in succession. read more

PHL: Plank Tag

Fridays are for hill repeats, I repeat, Fridays are for hill repeats. Buuutttt, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!
Today we randomly (by a show of hands) selected a dirty dozen to be “it” and played plank tag in the wet dewey grass. Plank tag is very similar to freeze tag where when you are tagged you freeze, in this case you plank and you plank for the time it takes the person who tagged you to do a dozen burpees *the dirty dozen, then the planker is “it,” so on and so forth. *NOTE: no tag backs! read more
