If you showed up today, you won. Many hugs, ear tickles, and hills (noms) later, you started off your week in a great way. The FOMO was strong enough for you to get your ass out of bed and over to Meridian Hill Park. As for the rest of DC, they missed out. But that can change with your help. Spread the positivity and excitement from every workout. Get other people to come out to NPDC with you. Don’t be responsible for letting them miss out. Now go forth and instill some FOMO in our friends, neighbors, congressmen, weathermen, bosses, coworkers, strangers, strangers’ dogs, etc.
Champagne Fridays (DCA)
For real though, November Project is the best group of people around town and I wouldn’t want to start my day with anyone else. We continue to grow, find more like-minded people (crazy, weird, fanatic…just some of the identifiers), and build an amazing community and a better DC. Keep spreading the LOVE.
The Tribe Sits, Steve Is Slowly Losing It (DCA)
Day 14:
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Danny. I’m not sure what’s going on. I continuously hear the words LOVE ALWAYS. I’m hearing voices and steps. Or is that the tribe? Is it normal to hear it once I leave the workout? Are those my own steps? I feel stranded. Lauren is taking the group photo. Giant rat sighted this morning. Thought about catching it for breakfast but ate stairs instead. Received Clayton’s message in a bottle. Bottle is weirdly shaped like a computer. I hear Clayton is missing his coleaders in SF as well. Are coleaders disappearing? Should I be worried? Releasing this message into the Potomac. Maybe Clayton will get it soon and know that he is not alone. There is hope. The sun rises and sets again. Danny, get well and come home soon please. The tribe is strong.
Monday Blue (Da Ba Dee Da Ba Die) (DCA)
In the boring world:
The Monday Blues – def. (n.) a feeling of fatigue and depression due to a knowledge and action of returning to work after the weekend
In November Project world:
The Monday Blues – def. (n.) an ecstatic feeling relating to a ‘runner’s high’ stemming from social interaction and a badass workout with 100+ individuals sharing positivity, smiles, hugs, etc.
One Way…Or Another (DCA)
We’re gonna find ya. We’re gonna getcha, getcha, getcha, getcha to come to November Project DC. Yes, that’s how the song goes. Trust me, I’m a professional lyricist. Got licensed last year. You can do anything on the internet these days. But I digress…
If you haven’t followed the instructions for how to join NP (They’re really complicated. Actually, so complicated that I’ll just explain right now. Here’s how to join: JUST. SHOW. UP.), you’re missing out. I’d say I get it when you just don’t want your quality of life to improve but I don’t get it. Since day one of my NP experience, this mantra has been unavoidable. But here’s the deal: it’s not an intimidation. It’s not a “BRO, just show up and prove to everyone how strong and cool and ripped you are” kind of saying. It’s a “there’s no way to explain how fun and awesome it is and how much happier of a person you’ll be” kind of saying. You won’t know unless you SHOW UP. There’s a constant opportunity here in DC and in 16 other cities in North America for you to take charge of your life, come to a workout, and have some real, human interaction with what I continue to believe are the coolest people you’ll ever meet. All ages, all fitness levels, and all walks of life. Sure, you get along with your work friends because of a mutual interest in your career. You get along with your family because you have to. But you’ll get along with the people at NP because of a mutual interest in life and all that carpe diem mumbo jumbo. So stop standing on or straddling that fence. Come once, live a changed life forever.
unPRedictable Summer (DCA)
I’m not a fortune teller, a psychic, or Nostradamus. I don’t know when the world will end, if you’ll get lucky, or where you were the night before the workout. But I do know a couple straight up, can’t deny, most likely scientifically proven facts:
1. November Project DCA will continue to crush workouts, hug strangers (that are now friends), build an incredible community, and grow faster than the grass on the National Mall. Don’t miss out on it. And don’t let your friends miss out on it. Let’s break 300 at a workout. Screw it. Let’s break 400. We have 1500+ likes on Facebook just from the DC proper. WHERE ARE THEY?
Winning The Life Game (DCA)
Lots of people like to compete. Rarely does anyone like losing. Ending in a tie can seem even worse (c’mon USA…30 seconds. That’s all you had to do is last 30 more seconds. That’s what she said). For those of you interested in winning, you’re in luck. There’s a good chunk of District residents that know a few important things about it, MWF, 6:30AM.
Coldest Day Yet (DCA)
Ok, so it wasn’t cold. It wasn’t raining. It wasn’t even a tiny bit chilly. As I sit in my lab and think about the workout that happened days ago (wait, that was this morning?), I can’t help but simply smile. Why? Because we are a SMILE FACTORY. How do you know this Steve? You’re not a doctor yet. Steve knows this because of the countless smiles and hugs we see at the workouts and extracurricular events and the countless thank yous he and Danny receive from veterans and newbies alike.
…But First, Let Met Take A Selfie
We are not a running club. We are not boot camp. We are not a crossfit gym. We are a community-building, game-changing, life-affirming, hips-in-hugging, positivity-spreading, selfie-taking movement. Take note. We will never charge you money. We will never beat you down. We will never turn you away. We welcome all ages, sizes, abilities, and every kind of love you can give. We hug. We high five. We cheer. If you don’t like change, you might not like November Project. Because it WILL change your life. Exercise, hugs, and social interaction are scientifically proven to make you happier and extend your life. Don’t argue with SCIENCE. Embrace (literally) the world that is November Project. Join us and leave a happier person. JUST. SHOW. UP.
Boom Goes The Dynamite Thunder (DCA)
There’s a flash of light. Loud noises. People are yelling profanities. Is there a construction blasting area nearby? Nope. Just another Wednesday morning at the Lincoln Memorial steps.
Sure, there was rain and lightning and thunder this morning. But did that stop us (rhetorical question…the answer is no)? Truth be told, I’d rather have a rainy 70 degree morning than a windy 8 degree morning. Remember that whole deal we made about making everyone feel like kids again and making the city our playground? Well this morning was a jump in the puddles kind of day. We unplugged (literally…I had about 20 phones and a laptop in my waterproof bag being kept safe) and broke out a new workout: Swim Practice. Because of this, Mother Nature decided to go along with the joke and get us nice and soaked. Don’t matter. Fun times were had.
