NP Thanksgiving Member Spotlight

It’s the day before Thanksgiving.

“Are you all good?” I ask.

“Fu*$ yeah,” you say.

The turkeys are about to get stuffed fatter than a Build-A-Bear at the mall (Do they even still have those?). The green beans are flowing like the Mississippi. And we started out the morning with a great workout at the Superdome. It was a little chilly. And yes, it started drizzling a little bit. But there was something very poetic about doing a workout together with the November Project NOLA tribe in the actual month of November on the day before a holiday. The air was a little lighter, probably because most folks have a short week at work. The mood was even more upbeat and fun than usual if you can believe it. And then it happens…the moment I thought I had gotten away with: read more

THE USPS OF WORKOUTS

While staring at the weather forecast yesterday morning in preparation for today’s workout, the thought hit me…..November Project Nola really is a lot like the US Postal service.  The forecast showed Wednesday morning 6am with a 100% chance of rain, flash flood watch and tornado watch.   The idea of changing the date or just canceling the whole thing was never really an option.  The only real question was, “How many of the badass, crazy people in our tribe will #justshowup?” read more

INCOMING

It has to happen.  No matter how awesome a location you have to host your #worldtakeoverworkouts or how creative the leadership may be, at some point you have to go back to the war chest and reuse some of your favorite workouts. Behind the scenes, NPNO leadership does a lot of analysis and critiquing to try and get the perfect balance of “Dam that was hard” and “Shit that was fun”.  This also leads to an occasional freak out.  read more

Member Spotlight- The Pearsons

This week we have a special member spotlight.  To our knowledge, Erin and Erik Pearson are the first NPNO tribe member to get married.  Not only that, they invited the whole tribe on Eric’s bachelor party.  Lets just say it was different than any bachelor party I have ever been a part of. Sadly for NPNO and really the whole city of New Orleans, Erin and Erik have relocated to Reno.  We wish this all the best and hope that they come back and visit as often as possible.  So, for this months Member Spotlight it is bitter sweet that we give you Erin and Erik Pearson: read more

Great work to everyone that came out and threw down on PR Day.  It was hot and it was awesome.  Some of us were so excited after the workout that we decided to let PR Wednesday carry over to our daily commute to work.  Sadly Cameron had his personal record drive to the office interrupted by the St. James Parrish Sherriff’s office.  It appears the Sherriff could not care less about personal records and does not believe in #raceeverything.  We hope that the officer will  #justshowsup next week so we can help change his mind. read more

NPNO Member Spotlight: Denali

Great job by all of the tribe members who showed up today for the PR Workout.  We know a lot of you were sore for the marathon (or in some cases multiple marathons) last week.  Thank you for coming and brining all of you positivity. We can’t wait to see everyone next week.

Positivity Award
Before turn it over to Denali, we want to give a special shout out to our positivity award winner today: Mary Martha!.  Mary Martha is just what you are looking for in a tribe member.  She comes and works hard, but no matter how hard it gets, she just can’t seem to wipe the smile off of her face.  She is an awesome tribe member and we are lucky to have her as part of our group!  Thank you Mary Martha for your positivity! read more

Yes it is that time of year.  The holidays are over and everyone is back to the grind of real life.  It was a good break, filled with stuffing our face full of food and enough alcohol consumption that we should write our liver an apology letter.  But now that NYE is past, everything slows down.  Its back to work, setting goals to hit new year’s resolutions, and in most places just trying to survive until spring time.  All of this is true of course… unless you live in New Orleans. read more

2014: The Year of the Stairs . . . and PR’s

I think we can all agree that 2014 was a big year.  Maybe not for the Saints…or any of our other sports teams come to think of it…but 2014 brought us all here….waking up before dawn on Wednesday mornings, ready to hug (and sweat) it out after hearing what the tribe leaders have in store for us that day. read more

Dead Roaches

You have not seen roaches until you have been to New Orleans.  Maybe it’s the tropical environment, or the below sea level altitude, or maybe roaches just like to party and figured what better city to live in than Nola.  Whatever the reason, the roaches down here are big and they are many.

At this point you may be asking yourself, “Why in the hell are they rambling on about Roaches?”.  Well, let me tell you.  As southerners, we detest cold weather. I mean we freaking hate it.  But instead of living in the world of negativity, we like to put a positive spin on things.  So with cold weather pushing through the greater New Orleans Area, we are really excited to have killed off the majority of this city’s roach population.  Now that is what we call positivity right there! read more

Rocky VI

With our own NPNO heavyweight champ Preston running the show today, we put the tribe through the ultimate training montage.  We started off as we always do, some bouncing some hugs and a bit of stairs.  Then Preston’s Rocky theme of a work out got everyone’s blood pumping.  It all began with sprints up the stairs which were followed by 10 burpees with arms elevated mimicking Rocky. But if you thought that was it, you were mistaken. This being Rocky VI NP style, we had to throw in the full training cycle. The burpees were followed by some ramp action and hoistees.  Then a sprint back to the start for some push-ups to complete one round. We knew this would not be a 12 round fight, but we had a few members power through the cycle multiple times before a technical knockout.  Then to finish the day and stir in some extra fun, we decided to do a planking tabata. read more
