Yes it is that time of year. The holidays are over and everyone is back to the grind of real life. It was a good break, filled with stuffing our face full of food and enough alcohol consumption that we should write our liver an apology letter. But now that NYE is past, everything slows down. Its back to work, setting goals to hit new year’s resolutions, and in most places just trying to survive until spring time. All of this is true of course… unless you live in New Orleans.
While NYE is the finish line for the Holiday season in most places, NOLA looks at it more as an unofficial “half time”. Because as soon as the new year rolls around and you don’t think you can party anymore, carnival season kicks off. And for those of you that don’t know…Mardi Gras takes the party to a whole other level! How better to open the doors to 2015 then with a NP workout and a piece of king cake to take with you on your way home?
We started off the day with our usual routine: Hugs, bouncing, lap around the dome and 15 minutes of stairs. After a quick water break, we moved on to the workout of the day, which just happened to be a partner workout. In groups of two, tribe members would make laps around the dome stopping at each gate to perform air squats, planking push ups, hip thrusters, and partnered leg lifts. In life there are few better ways to get to know a stranger, then to hold onto their ankles while they stand over you and push your feet back down during leg lifts. The cycle continued for 20 minutes and that was a wrap. All that was left was to pig out on some king cake.
The positivity award today was given to Laura. Laura is an awesome tribe member, showing up every week and pioneering the NPNO “bring your pet to the workout” movement… Oh yeah, and she is the person who brought all of the king cake this morning. That pretty much guarantees you the positivity award (hint hint the rest of NPNO).
The king cake was on hand this morning to help make folks aware of the King Cake Festival to benefit the babies and children at Oschner Hospital. The event will be held on January 25th at Champions Square. November Project NO leaders will be helping out as volunteers in the “Dough Me Fitness Challenge”. We would love to have all of you come out and participate. Check out the link below for more information.

This morning we also discussed that some of us are joining the Whole Life Challenge, which is a 56 day online challenge that includes different aspects of healthy living. NPNO has created a November Project NO group and we would love for you to join us. Some of us have done this before and seen great results. If you join the November Project NO group, you will be able to track your results with other tribe members and keep each other accountable. This group is not limited to NPNO tribe members, so get your friends, spouses, coworkers or whomever you want to just on board. Message us for more information and check out the link below.
