#SummerFridays

January 22, 2014.  It was cold as shit.  It was around 11 degrees.  Snow was coming down.  John and I got there, and no one else was there.  We looked at each other at 6:24 and went, “What are we doing? I hope no one shows up and we can go home. This fucking sucks.”  Then out of the darkness there was a body running towards us.  We were told that a guy who worked out with the crew in Boston had just moved to New York and was looking for when a group would start to get going.  Patrick was the first recruit to show up.  Then one of our good friends, who had been to the Boston group showed up.  Sara was recruit #2.  Nolan rounded out the three to make up the first 5  for our first workout of the “pledge process.” read more

Visitors From Across The World (NYC)

We have now had our share of visitors.  People coming from all across, near and far to come to our workouts.  Boston, Arizona, Canada, Philadelphia, DC, Brooklyn.  Everywhere, people come to see what the November Project is doing in New York City.  And we show them through our COMMUNITY.

The workout was super hyped.  People were running every direction.  Over the hills, through the I Love You tree, and into your favorite.  My Favorite.  Burpees.  Just burpees for days.  Some people came and strutted their stuff for us from the gun.  Our friends, Andy and his team were out there, getting up early to make it from the workout from Brooklyn.  Tina and Erin were here all the way from Canada. And more.  AND MORE.  .  When you think about November Project, do you think of smiles, hugs, high fives, and LOVE? Well, when we think about November Project that is what is going through our heads.  Then we almost forget that we have to plan a workout for you crazy people.  This guy even came by read more

Cracking 50 + Life Events (NYC)

Today, the NYC Tribe was still feeding off of the energy from Boston. It was so great to have so many NP folks celebrating and hugging all weekend long.  From Friday’s Summit Ave workout, to the B’s Runner’s World Talk at the Expo, to the epic Mile 18 NP Water Stop–unreal!

It was so great to see five Boston Marathoners show up this morning to show support of the group while getting some work in along with many the high five (Alison even brought her mom and aunt–a first for the NYC Tribe). We kept the workout fairly basic. We broke the group down into chicas and chicos and sent them in opposite directions on the Shamrock Grotto Loop.  After each loop, we crushed 5 burpees and repeated for 30 minutes. We reversed the direction at the half way mark. The group was so jazzed up that we didn’t even need any music–we all just used our heartbeats and the slaps of our high fives to keep our rhythm. read more

We Love You Boston, From NYC

It’s hard to believe that 12 months have passed since the 2013 Boston Marathon. It feels like just a few weeks ago that we were all knocked down (literally and figuratively) by the explosions near the Boylston Street finish line.  The tragedy effected so many people in so many different ways:  Four lives were  lost, hundreds more were shattered.  Freedom was replaced by fear, and hearts were broken. read more

It felt like Megadeath (NYC)

You know those days when you don’t want to get out of bed? You roll over, see that your clock says 5:00 a.m. and you feel awful? You didn’t get to sleep last night until midnight, but did get an extra 30mins of sleep on the train because you missed your stop.  Then you get out of bed, roll over, snooze the alarm and start your way to the workout.  You get there and no one is there.  You ask, why did I even get out of bed this morning? Why did I run to get here with this heavy backpack? Should I just leave because I feel like MEGADEATH. Then the people start showing up from all over.  One after the other.  Then you know it was all worth it.  Everything starts to make sense.  Smiles and hugs all around with each new face.  Some faces are old, some are brand new. read more

Ambitionz Az a Ridah

Today we met 10+ people we have never met before–um, FUCK YEAH! The Tribe is strong and only getting stronger.  For the workout entailed of three 10-minute segments w/ stations (spice). We broke the Tribe into three very good-looking groups and we rotated the groups between the three courses. Rest between segments was minimal because we’re hardcore. OBVI! read more
