Halloworkout 2018

Gotcha! This morning we gotcha with a sneaky PR! Y’all didn’t even see it coming! Everyone crushed their miles with smiles and we were fired up! The reason we pulled this swap, was that next week is our Hallo-workout, wear a costume and BYOPumpkin, seriously bring a pumpkin. Last year was an absolute blast, we promise you wont want to miss out and the mayhem we have in store for you this year! Also next Wednesday is NP Halloween Karaoke, you won’t want to miss out! read more

#runhappy

Winnipeg Notes:

  • We wore Brooks shoes
  • October tags start Friday
  • Stairs
  • Boombox

This morning was misty fresh. Our lovely Brooks rep attended the workout and she brought a whole fleet of shoes for us to try out! What fun! If you LOVED your Brooks shoes and ya wanna buy a pair, head on down to City Park Runners, and we’d love to get you fitted up in some fresh kicks!

WE GOT A NEW BOOMBOX! It’s so loud, we’re so pumped up! You can actually hear the music now! The whole group was so hyped and there were so many dance moves. The hills were alive with the sound of music.

This morning we ran hella stairs, Erin brought belated birthday muffins for Will. And we had Steph one of co-leaders from NP Toronto join us!

It was an awesome morning and I want to thank all of you who came out! Shoes, boomboxes, friendships, hard work, cute dogs, photographers. We are all building this community together every week. And this morning in particular, I felt so supported by, connected to and grateful for all of the parts and people who make this crazy beautiful thing what it is, every damn week.

Mother of Dragon(boats)

Wow, what a great week we had! Wednesday we did some hardcore parkour, we debuted roistees (reverse hoistees). Then we tried out a workout that we learned about at Meeting of the Minds, from our good friends at November Project Baltimore: the Baltimore 15 x 15. It was a real burner, and definitely one that we’ll be going back to! read more

Winnipeg Notes

– Sunrise 6km this Friday, July 26th

– PR / Tagging Day next Wednesday, July 31st

– Dragon Boat Pop Up Friday, August 16th

– Awesome turn out at Bomber Game

– Shabooyah goes to Katrina Froese

Some of us thought we were done with the stairs after the wicked stadium workout last week, some of us were wrong. What a great, hard, goofy morning. My highlight was our controlled chaos back to back best friend race. I thought this would be the most dangerous part of the workout with the potential of people running head first into one another at an all time high. I was wrong, cue the museum stairs. Not one, not two but three people fell up those stairs today. Being someone who has done this already this summer, I feel your pain my friends. No broken bones were had. Hope all bruises, scrapes and cuts heal quickly!

We thought we were done the stairs after a continuous 10 minute loop, but nope, MORE STAIRS. Finishing with a stair-sprint burnout was a fire finisher and you all brought that fire. Carter didn’t want to be shown up by super cute Bishop so he made sure to jump in for a race up those stairs, and he crushed it. You all crushed it. Good job team!

This Friday we will be at Fort Whyte Alive for our Sunrise 6K, NOT the Legislature. We will meet at the Alloway Centre. Show up before 6:14 to park and sign a waiver. We will bounce at 6:14 sharp, quick warm up and get to racing! Remember, there are two pairs of brand new Brooks Running Shoes on the line. You get to choose your own style, colour and size and have them shipped to you! The shoes won’t necessarily be going to the fastest finishers. We will be getting creative, so #justshowup to see how you can win!

We have officially booked our annual Dragon Boat Pop Up Workout, mark your calendars for Friday, August 16th. This is always a favourite event and we love seeing big numbers out. Bring your friends, bring your mom, bring your dad! More details to follow.

Last Friday, a big crew of NPers went back to Investors Group Field to cheer the Blue Bombers to their 5th victory of the season, with a final score of 31- 1 against the Ottawa Redblacks. This is pretty exciting because that makes the Bombers 5-0. The last time the Bombers started a season with 5-0 was in 1960, That’s history my friends! After the game, audience members were allowed down on the turf and some NPers got the chance to meet and chat with Blue Bomber, John Rush. A certain someone was even lucky enough to test out the plane! GO

Shabooyah this week was handed from Melanie Noble to Katrina Froese. Katrina is a constant positive energy at NP. She shows up all seasons, all weather. I believe this has to do with the fact that she is a seasoned cross-country skier and has embraced Winnipeg Weather to its fullest. Katrina, we are glad you’re here! Katrina actually works at Fort Whyte, where we will be racing this Friday. Even though she is unable to make the race, we will enjoy her workplace for her!

Don’t forget to bring a shirt to tag and a friend to race for PR Day next week!

That’s it, that’s all,

Chatty Y.

I. Believe. That. We. Will. Win.

Look at all those beautiful humans.

Turning the Page

Winnipeg Notes:

•Yvette is our new colead
•NP @ IG, July 17th @6am
•Bombers Game, July 19th

This morning was AWESOME! If you thought that because it was raining you’d get an easy workout, you were WRONG! We ran hills, we ran stairs, we did hoistees, we did squats and WE ANNOUNCED A NEW CO-LEADER!

We are super- duper excited to be bringing Yvette on as our new co-leader.  Much in the same way that there must always be a Stark in Winterfell, there must always be a Page at the November Project Winnipeg.  KIDDING! Totally kidding.  Willie Mac and I waited until Derek was fully settled into his retirement home; enjoying weekly bingo, the guided 4pm nature walks and the tapioca pudding for dessert; before we discussed who we would call up to fill his role.  Yvette was our number one choice, and that fact that she was Derek’s sister and the way that, that would be perceived was our biggest hang up, and it is certainly not a good enough reason.  We are so excited for what Yvette is going to bring to the table.  Yvette is always the first to offer a hand, she’s been attending NP YWG on and off for four years, whenever she was living in the city, and she’s a wicked fast skater.  I’m unbelievably excited to be turning the Page and I hope you are too.

Y’all, next Wednesday WE ARE RUNNING THE STADIUM STAIRS AT INVESTORS GROUP STADIUM.  Workout starts at 6:00am, wear clean shoes, and do not bring food or water onto the field.  Get hyped, and be there! This is one of our toughest, funnest workouts of the year.  It takes a lot of organization and finagling on both our ends to make this happen, so please show up to make it all worth it. Respond to and share the facebook event:

https://www.facebook.com/events/2080794805559346/

Call, email, text, send a messenger pigeon. However you do it, recruit someone to come to the workout. It’s gonna be major FOMO if you don’t show up.

Also, the Bomber’s have offered us a dope deal on group tickets for the game on Friday, July 19th. Tickets are discounted and will be $35, please bring cash to the workout on Wednesday, and you can leave with a ticket. That way, we’ll all be sitting together, and we can show the Bombers how grateful we are that they are letting us into their stadium. PLUS, if we get enough people to buy tickets to the game, they will let us on the field during the warmup, someone in our group will be allowed to hold the flag during the national anthem, we’ll get some free parking passes, a discount on the merch store, AND they’ll announce November Project on the PA and put us on the jumbotron. JUST THINK OF THE CONTENT! SO COME (and bring your Dad, or your daughter, or your brother-in-law)! Also, here’s a secret for you, you don’t have to like football to have a good evening, last year when we went, I literally do not think I payed attention to one play, you can drink a beer, people watch, yell randomly along with a crowd, there were dogs doing tricks on the field during half time, it’s a whole event. COME!

  • Winnipeg Notes:
  • Friday, Sunrise 6K
  • July 17th, NP @ IG Stadium
  • July 19, Bombers Game
  • Shelby wins PA

Today was PR, and y’all crushed it. We had a bunch of PR’s, a bunch of you finished the 3 laps for the first time, and no one got lost, so we’ll call that a win. We tagged a bunch of shirts and kept the tags fresh.

Shelby won the PA, Shelby is awesome, she’s shows up all the time, she works hard, she’s always got a smile on her face. She is an amazing sailor and sailing coach, she brings her athletes to the workouts and she even changed their training schedule so that they are free on Wednesday mornings. Plus, Shelby has witnessed Willie Mac’s shenanigans for years, and does her darnedest to keep him in line. Shelby, we are glad that you are here.

Friday is the first in our Sunrise 6K series, we’re doing 3, on the last Friday of June, July and August. We’ve got 5 free race entries for MEC Race #2 on July 21st, so come out on Friday, run hard, and win a race.

That’s it, that’s all.

Thanks Derek (the over-achiever down the hall)

-NP at da Bombers, Friday, July 19th, tickets $35

We are glad, that you are here.

This morning was hard; hard physically, hard emotionally. Derek’s parting gift was an incredibly tough workout, we will all be SORE AS HELL FOR DAYS. And the city’s parting gift was a whole bunch of sweet, lovely, heart felt things: there were cinnamon buns from Yvette, cookies baked and decorated by Erin, a shirt signed by everyone and organized by Will, a wood NP Toba, designed by Steve, a video edited by Gen and heartfelt hugs and goodbye messages of various varieties from everyone else. Last week Will asked me the over under on the number of Pages at the workout and I confidently (and correctly) predicted all of them who were in town would be at the workout. Y’all showed up in big numbers today for Derek, and that is a testament to what he has helped create over the past 3.5 years. read more
