Wow, what a great week we had! Wednesday we did some hardcore parkour, we debuted roistees (reverse hoistees). Then we tried out a workout that we learned about at Meeting of the Minds, from our good friends at November Project Baltimore: the Baltimore 15 x 15. It was a real burner, and definitely one that we’ll be going back to!
Friday was dragonboat! This was our 3rd year doing dragonboat. The first year we had 87 paddlers, the second 92 and this year we really wanted to push for 100 paddlers out on the river….. AND WE DID IT! We had 101 paddlers! Thank you to everyone of you who came out and helped us reach our goal.
Willie made a one time only, limited edition dragon tag to celebrate the event. It was a beautiful morning out on the river, we had a 500m, 200m and 100m race. Yvette’s boat was dominant, but Rob squeaked out a win on the last race, for which his boat was rewarded by having to take their boat out of the water and put it away.
Thank you to Jordie and the Manitoba Canoe and Kayak Centre, for opening up before dawn and allowing us the opportunity to get on the river. Thank you to Rob, Anthony, Yvette, Cam and Emily for steering and to Nadya for taking photos. It was awesome morning. If you’re interested in doing some more dragonboating, the canoe club, has drop in dragonboat every Sunday at 7pm, they paddle to the Commons for a beer, and your first time is free, go check it out!
Next week on Wednesday we’re teaming up with the Bad Ass Lady Gang on Wednesday! We’re meeting at 6:30pm at the Forks canopy, doing a Fun Run 5K, followed by an awards evening! We’re looking to you to nominate your fellow NPer’s. For example ‘most likely to break a verbal’, ‘best dragonboat steersperson’, ‘most likely to take a bad photo’ etc! Hit us up in the next few days with your nominations! Come on out on Wednesday, we’d love to celebrate the summer together!
That’s it, that’s all. I hope y’all had a great weekend, now let’s crush the week together!
