Grateful for health, free fitness, and YOU! (LAX)

There comes a time of year (usually Thanksgiving in particular) when folks express their gratitude for one another, their health, their family, friends, and so much more.  But why should we limit this to just once a year?  Deep question, right?  Anyways, I do want to express my sincere gratitude for everyone in this community – whether it’s right here in Los Angeles or around the country or world.  Thank you for waking up early, putting in effort, smiles, encouragement, sharing support inside and outside the workouts.  Thank you for providing a safe space, for accepting people for who they are, for challenging people to learn, grow, and have some fun.   read more

Grateful for Another Wonderful Morning (LAX)

The temperatures are starting to drop around the country but it’s still lovely working out in the high 60’s.  Yes folks, we still work out even in the winter months and when you see the temps dipping into the 50’s and maybe even high 40’s (gasp), remember our friends in Edmonton and Chicago and more are crushing those hills in the SNOW ALREADY! read more

Beachtober was a BLAST! (LAX)

Well folks, that’s a wrap on Beachtober, Piertober, BYOP-tober, and well, every other Friday in October.  Now it’s onwards to our cheer station at the RNR 1/2 Marathon this weekend, an awesome Halloween workout on Wednesday, and SWCC adventure in Joshua Tree next week!

This morning – like many Friday workouts – is the best part about starting my weekend.  Sure, I still have to go to work most Fridays but waking up to run around with some friends – old AND new, is the best part of the day.   Plus, this month getting to spend time on the beach (because that is possible in the fall in California) and watch the sunrise is just priceless. Not to mention how awesome it was to get both LAX and WLA collaborating on workouts, switching up the co-leaders, and meeting new friends.  read more

Early Trick or Treat (LAX)

First off, HUGE shoutout to NP_DC as they not only celebrated Steve’s last workout but had 500 PEOPLE PRESENT! Wow.  What can happen when you just #recruiteveryone.   If you have a moment to hop on over to his last blog, it’s a good read.

Speaking of #recruiteveryone, during the month of November, try to bring at least one new friend.  Hey, it’s the namesake month and the one people won’t get utterly confused by.  Plus it’s a month of hills and who WOULDN’T love that?  But really, all you have to do is call, text, FaceTime an old friend, new friend, coworker, date, family member, etc. and have them show up and check it out. More on that next week + #NPGivesBack with a sock drive. read more

Sister City Workout Swap Plus SWCC Updates!!! (LAX)

Shoutout to November Project Phoenix for the awesome exercises this morning.  A few cholla burpees and some cactus squats and my quads are still on fire.  We look forward to swapping more workouts and meeting up with y’all at the Southwest Collision Course in November.

Speaaaaking of SWCC…Now that registration for SWCC has been closed, it’s time for teams and tents and transportation!   See the link HERE to see who has tents and who is driving and the weekend schedule.   read more

Call Me Maybe (LAX)

Today is October 3rd, I don’t believe many people wore pink this morning, and phone calls are soooooo this morning? By now you have either gained one or two new phone numbers to your directory of friends and either have sent or received an excellent (maybe encouraging) text to someone new.  New friends!  Was awesome seeing friends recruiting friends this morning and we may have even recruited a security guard to work out with us next time!  So glad you are all here.  Anyways, keeping this short and sweet because we have oodles of announcements to re-share. read more

Karl Moves to LA for PR Day (LAX)

What can I say except this morning was awesome.  Sure Karl the Fog came for a visit and it was pretty tough to see right in front of you, but both 5:27 and 6:27 crushed it.  Today’s PR day marked the 9th time we ran this course and it somehow doesn’t get any easier.  But we did have a new record set on the course for 11.5 laps.  BOOM! read more

All Around the World (LAX)

This past weekend I had the opportunity to fly to Wisconsin for November Project #summit6 where we worked out and raced with folks from around the November Project world.  You could say there was plenty of NP Kool-aid but don’t worry Mom, I didn’t get an NP tattoo.  It was a whirlwind of a weekend meeting new folks and saying hi to old friends and while I certainly left the weekend exhausted, I also left rejuvenated.  I’ve said it here and so have so many others – this shit is good.  Sure, that phrase has probably been overused this last weekend but you know what?  It’s true.   read more

Sunrise (LAX)

Did you miss the sunrise this morning?  It truly was a beauty.  Have no fear, you’ll be able to witness another sunrise with us on Friday at Grand Park and we’ll be back at Griffith Observatory next week for more sunrise #freefitness.

Congrats to Sandra for kicking butt this week and being our latest recipient of the Positivity Award!  We are so happy you are here.  read more

LAX Hell Week. That’s a Wrap

Sunrise 6K clap clap clap-clap-clap!  Sunrise 6K clap clap clap-clap-clap! What. A. Finish.  Guys, I am still smiling from this morning because I am SO proud of everyone.  Sappy, I know but I just loved seeing the tribe come together this week, many of you for ALL FIVE days, and bust your butts in workouts.  I mean, AdamKauffman’s watch told him he needed 53 hours of recovery so I’m going to take that as a win for this week.

There were four days of hills and I mean mega hills.  From Baxter to Micheltorena, it was no joke.  Then to finish it off with a flat 6K and #raceeverything was quite a nice way to say HELL YES to this week.

And a big thanks to Elevation Culture for coming in clutch designing those awesome 6K medals!

Running related fun fact: Did you know there is a Sunrise 6K Strava Segment?  If you did happen to Strava your route this morning, if you go into the particular run, you can see the segment and who else has run it over the years!
