This past weekend I had the opportunity to fly to Wisconsin for November Project #summit6 where we worked out and raced with folks from around the November Project world. You could say there was plenty of NP Kool-aid but don’t worry Mom, I didn’t get an NP tattoo. It was a whirlwind of a weekend meeting new folks and saying hi to old friends and while I certainly left the weekend exhausted, I also left rejuvenated. I’ve said it here and so have so many others – this shit is good. Sure, that phrase has probably been overused this last weekend but you know what? It’s true.
This is a place to first and foremost workout but it’s a place to meet people from all different walks of life, ages, and fitness levels. It is a home away from home, a safe space, and a family when you need it. It’s a cheer station and sometimes a kick in the pants to work harder (really though, if we are calling you out by name, the love is real) 😉
I have been running for about 12 years now and I’ve always loved the feeling of being on a team. I missed having that community in college and even a year or so out of college. The past four years with NP from coast to coast have encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone and have pushed me to become a better person and often a better athlete.
Racing this past weekend was an awesome experience. If you haven’t raced one of The North Face Endurance Challenge Races before, I highly recommend checking it out. There were folks running their very first race and first time running over 5 miles! (side note: the race is 6 miles sooooo first race and first time running over 5…mega congrats!!). Some folks ran their first marathon and others a 50K! There was cheering all day long and not only centered around the race start/finish but all along the course. People were pumping one another up, dishing out high fives, and even rocking a cheer tunnel. The support was genuine and it rocked.
Another reason I love this group is that you can be uniquely you. In a day and age where people feel that they need to have their shit together and put a picture perfect image out on social media, it’s nice to find a group that accepts you for you. The love and support is here. I see it every week with our tribe and groups around the world. This movement isn’t going anywhere.
Do Good LA.
