Welcome back to our summer home. The sun was bright this morning and up before most of us. How do your legs feel being back in the stadium? How did you attempt this mornings workout? Well, one things for sure: summer is here. Which means more sweaty hugs, drenched t-shirts and sunny smiles.
This was our first morning completing the concourse workout. Where you would run one set of stairs, reach the bottom and run into the concourse to complete 10 partner push ups, leg raises and squats. Once completed you would make your way back into your next section of stairs. read more
Were you wondering why we put labels on your back? Then we asked you not to find out what was on your on label but laugh make note and maybe keep an eye out for a particular label that said; Hi, I’m 10 burpees, or Hi, I’m hold plank while singing O Canada, or Hi, I’m 10 sprawls or 25 sits ups or 25 squats? Who were you? How did people respond to your name? read more
30 exercises. You had 30 chances to complete 30 different, core-stabilizing, posterior chain building, calf defining and lung burning movements all while smiling. I mean you only really do this because it’s fun right?
here are some of what we think are our top 10 reasons why you keep showing up:read more
Either #yearbookphotos #globalrunningday or hard go getter recruiter might have gotten you out of bed this morning. Or you could have woken up on your own will to join in on an early sweat fest of a party. There is no shortage of a good time when you show up at 6:29am. Besides from having a professional head shot being taken at the crack of dawn, you also got to decide with the help of a partner what exercises to complete on your own. This brings out the best creativity, modelling and leading by example there is. We believe that you have the knowledge, experience and ability to decide on movements that will not only challenge you, but those around you. I think there was some new movements noted in the group today- steamrollers, handless/legless rolls, and there was definitely some crab walking. Did you ever consider doing a backwards burpee before you saw another person completing ten of them this morning? Did you ever think that doing 20 split lunges and then heading right into a run could be so exciting? Probably not in all honesty. But those ideas are shared, and teamwork makes everything work better. Plus, as always, we did a little running.read more
Okay so GIANT human rock-paper-scissors. We cannot take credit for this workout as it was created and tested in Boston before travelling and making it’s way to Ottawa. But let us tell you there is nothing more hilarious than watching all of you become a human ball aka rock, create alligator arms to replicate scissors or make some sort of a large star that is supposed to resemble a piece of paper. read more
When a holiday Monday rolls around you can expect a couple things. The first might be the noticeably extra day that you may have to enjoy all your favourite things like a longer coffee chat or a midday sweat. Secondly, you may find yourself tackling more “projects” over the 3 day weekend, these so called “projects” can range from cleaning out your sock drawer to installing a compostable toilet. Finally, you can expect that there will be a workout to kick off your extra day for whatever purpose suits you. read more
So! There’s been some talk about if and when November Project Ottawa going to take the plunge and add in another day? We wanted to take some time to address and share with you where we are at:
As most of you know, we value community and connection, inclusiveness, accountability and positivity as our top priorities, no matter what. We seek to create a culture where anyone who joins us in a morning at NP will experience this.read more
H I P P P P P Y have a hippy hoppy day, H I P P P P Y hope you have a good day today. To be fair this bounce really didn’t make any sense when we practiced it but a solid effort was put forth by everyone this morning. Happy Monday. You may have had to work today, maybe you opted to work and saved your holiday day for another day. Or maybe you are basking in the plus 17 degree weather we are currently having out on a patio. Wherever you are we hope that this morning brought you more connections, more scavenger like inhibitions, more soakers, and more sore legs from the hill climbs. You might have been fortunate enough this morning to have a voice let you know where to find some of the hidden eggs. Maybe you found one egg and 7 letter R’s. We hope that you found it challenging to search in a quick fashion while the remainder of your team held a superhuman pose, a plank, some variation of a power-stance or a chair pose. read more
Moving like a crab, bear, frog and ______ is a lot harder than we can recall
Pairs, triplets and even quatuplets were in the mix this morning
POSITIVITY AWARD
Did you hear all the announcements?
Burpees counter, coined “the dance party station”, sprinting, pushing each other at each corner with partner push ups, animal walks, group leg raises (get those toes to touch!) and partner/pair/quadruplet/quintuplet-person sit up high fives (it’s still just as hard). We ended each cycle with lunges and back to the dance station to get fired up for the next one. It’s amazing a simple corner workout with some silly components can be so darn hard! Somehow timing your leg raises to touch toes, or timing your sit up high fives makes you forget how challenging those exercises can be, and before you know it, it’s 7am! read more
You know what the worst feeling in the world is? It might be the sheer panic and the dropping of your own heart into your stomach when you realize you didn’t wake up on time. Your bed feels even more cozy until you fall out of that haze of a dream you were having to realize you are now in absolute flight mode while trying to brush your teeth, put on your shoes and jam all your important papers into your make shift knapsack for the day( aka a plastic bag). Now, I recognize that there are many more serious, life altering things that can cause grief, distress, heartache and pain but for the purpose of today’s blog and the remaining 10 sentences you’ll read, this may be the worst feeling. I’m sure one time or another it has happened to us all and after scouring the internet and researching here is what I found out. You could never experience these exact feelings again. I should point out that “researching” in this blog means I read a great blog by Emily Saul about acountabilibuddies. She lays down the importance and impact that one person can have on you. How you can have that one person to reach out to on a Tuesday night and check in with you. How you can keep them in the corner of your eye while moving through sections in the stadium knowing that you moving up and down is driving them as much as it’s driving you. Like Lauren Carter, Emily Saul falls into the category of badass women with their articulate abilities to relay a message so for your own sake take a read here: https://november-project.com/acountabilibuddies-bos-3-20-19/read more
