As we’re approaching the last minutes of 2019, it’s worth looking back at all the amazing things that we experienced at NP during the past 365 days. To capture EVERY moment would be impossible as this post would never end, so if there’s a story or an experience you’d like to share, please add it in the comments. We’d like to thank all NP members for another year filled with positivity, support, and fitness. This community is stronger with you as a part of it so please keep inspiring with your actions and kindness. And to our leaders, thank you for your selflessness, energy, and dedication. You are the bloodline of November Project and we’re eternally grateful for your devotion to this movement.
Hey There, Pumpkin (PVD)
Last night around 8:30, I went to a local grocery store, and bought 3 pumpkins, because I wasn’t super sure people would bring them today, and I figured “it’s probably safe to have a few extras.”
What I did not expect today was the sea of orange that embraced the stairs and hills of the State House for our post-Halloween discount sales-price pumpkin workout.
Hello Darkness My Old Friend (PVD)
The best part about the end of October is not the PR Day, or the spooky costumes, or the free candy, but the fact that just around the corner is the end of Daylight Saving Time for the rest of the year.
Why? Because we get an extra hour of sleep? Better – it makes that extra hour an easier opportunity to get up out of bed and do things early in the morning. 5:27 is a LOT easier when it feels like 6:27.
Something magical happens before the sun comes up every Wednesday morning. In the hours before dawn, we sweat together, we see the steam come off the faces of friends, we laugh together.
We Need Your Help With Science!
November Project is teaming up with Dr. Evan Johnson at the University of Wyoming Division of Kinesiology and Health to understand, investigate, and quantify how this free fitness movement translates to physical activity habits outside of our early morning workouts. Specifically, we’d like to measure NP participants’ feelings of fitness independence both within NP workouts and within your own workouts. We are looking for people who have attended at least one November Project workout within the past three months. This study will be conducted through online questionnaires and an optional phone interview, requiring a total of 25 to 60 minutes of your time. You can take the first step by clicking on this link. We (including the researchers) appreciate your time and can’t wait to share what you tell us!
If you have questions about your rights as a research subject, please contact the University of Wyoming Institutional Review Board Administrator at 307-766-5320.
Raindrops Keep Falling (PVD)
Right now in Providence, it is 72 degrees and sunny. The day has burgeoned into quite the late-summer day, considering how it started. In case you missed it….
This morning was MOIST. It started drizzly, and ended squishy, and then around 6:45, the rain stopped. So it was the kind of day where shutting off the alarm clock is an easy thing to do. Those days though – those are the best days to actually BE at November Project.
Hell and Back (PVD)

For the past five days, the November Project Providence community has set their alarms for approximately early-ass o’clock in order to be a part of our Second Annual Hell Week.
We use the term Hell Week in the military sense – grueling workouts in pre-dawn hours every day for a week, designed to build fitness, build reslience, and build community, all while taking in different spaces throughout our incredible city.
For the most part, we were lucky. Our weather held out, or the rain ended early, or the temperatures were a little above average for the week.
A quick synopsis of the week for everyone:
Oh Hell Yeah (PVD)
This is a post about November Project Providence’s Hell Week, which (let’s be honest) is not hell at all. It’s five (5) days of:
- Free Fitness
- Building Community
- Exploring Our City
- Getting a Sweet Ass Tag
- Surprises? Probably Surprises
So let’s talk about WHAT is going on. Ready? Set? Go!

Monday, October 14:
Prospect Terrace Park ( Congdon St, Providence, RI 02906).
From here, we make a quick trip to Jenckes Hill, for the best funnest hilliest way to start your week! Start your week right and be there.
Pumpkin Spices (PVD)
You may hear it said that Pumpkin Spices are, for some reason, the nicest. I will confirm, this is a falsehood.
Not that I dislike the scent, the flavor, the idea – my opinions don’t mean damn thing, really. For me, it’s what I call “The Pumpkin Spicening” of our society that really grinds my gears.
Brightest Future (PVD)
Today, all 51 November Project communities from around the globe took on a simple, yet hilarious idea: EVERYONE WEAR SUNGLASSES.

Here’s why I love it. Not (just) because it makes for cool social media content. Not just because we all look pretty damn cool in our Knockarounds. No. It’s what it represents.
