NovemBern Contest

Dear November Project Universe, the time has come for another NP Homework, and this one is going to be stellar. It involves bicyles, the great outdoors, painted #GrassrootsGear shirts, and of course, awards for the best submissions. This year, our friends from Bern Unlimited will reward 10 of the funniest, silliest, most creative, or as we call it “The X-factor’est”, submissions from around the world with Bern Helmet of the winner’s choosing. To be selected in the exclusive group of 10, you have to follow the rules below: read more

PVD, Do You Love Me? (PVD)

In the past few weeks, it seems like November Project Providence has gotten some pretty tremendous love and support from the RI community.  In fact, we even made the news!  A huge thanks to Tim Ruel and Monique Conway for sharing their stories with the camera! You guys are rock stars!

So that meant this morning, Providence had a whole slew of new faces with us on the steps of the State House…so we decided to get to know each other.  And what’s the easiest way to get to know your newest friends? read more

I like the way you work it! Go PVD!

Here in Providence, we have had the threat of thunderstorms for days – you can cut the humidity with a knife. Yet our tribe is determined, and showed up to crush stairs for PR day – for 40 minutes, we pushed ourselves and earned the drenched shirts and sweaty glows!

We had a surprise guest join us  – Johnny Villella, a videographer for WPRI Channel 12, heard about the hype and joined us at 5:27am to see if it was real. He shared that the vibrancy, excitement, and the vibe was contagious! He could not believe how many people got up before dawn to challenge themselves for a PR on the Rhode Island State Capitol! He took the time to interview a few tribe members. To hear them share the joy, camaraderie and energy they receive and how much they look forward to Wednesdays was inspiring – it reminded me of how good this is, and how much we can benefit each other by getting out of our comfort zones by sharing a hug, a smile and a laugh! read more

Party in the USA

It’s been hot out.  Like stupid hot.  Like run your AC all day hot even though your electric bill is going to be $300 next month. Like taking a shower to cool off from your shower hot.  So waking up early ass o’clock on a holiday to engage in some free fitness was a way better alternative than, say, running a 5k and/or a 10k in 96 degree heat and a million percent humidity (which many of the tribe did this week).

But like zombies in the fog, the tribe walked through the haze of the Providence sunrise to engage in what turned out to be an team competition to celebrate America’s independence – the Colonists vs the Red Coats, if you will. read more

Good for your City – Good for your Body

Things are rocking in Providence! We witnessed an amazing turnout for PR day – humid, hot, and 119 of our closest, sweaty friends.  People showed up and put in quality work. We are feeling the love – two  MKE #traverbals made their way to the State House this Wednesday and crushed #stairsforbreakfast with our tribe! read more

Summer in the City (PVD)

Summer is here.  Finally.  Freeze pops, water slides, beach trips, road races, bike rides, sunburns, globs of aloe….everything great about summer.  And with it comes another answer to one of the questions we’re always asked – “Why are your workouts so early?”

DUDE.  It gets HOT during the day.  So not only do we get to wake up with the best people, not only do we get to see the sun rise, not only do we get the rest of our day to spend doing the rad things about summer with our friends and family – but we don’t have to do it in 90 degree heat and 70% humidity.  Which is pretty great.  So when you’re recruiting your faces off this week, remember that and remind your friends and family and co-workers and neighbors and random strangers on the Blackstone Blvd Running Path about how nice it is at 6am when it’s only 65 degrees, and there’s still shade.  Being #weatherproof works both ways – Cold.  Rain.  And stupidly hot days too. read more

Connect! (PVD)

This thing is working! Connection – Week 3 of November Project PVD has been nothing short of awesome! Bananas!

Who smiles at 5:30am? The BEST PEOPLE

This morning at 5:27 am, and then again at 6:27 am, we had the privilege of connecting with some of the best humans on the planet.  This morning,  90 badass people willing to step out of the comforts of their beds, not just for fitness, but for the opportunity to connect to their community. read more

A Lively Experiment (PVD)

Rhode Island is a boomerang state – the type of place where people leave, and then come back. I’m not sure why, but it’s just hard to leave.  I left for a decade, and it pulled me right back in.  But it’s the kind of place that grows on you, even if you’re not from here.  So I’ve decided that for the Providence Tribe’s first blog post, I’m going to splice in some fun facts about this place I call home.   For example – DID YOU KNOW that our fine state was founded in 1636 by Roger Williams on the ideas of religious and political freedom? Right there, you have to love this place. read more
