The idea was rolled out in our large conference room at the #NPSUMMIT in Madison, Wisconsin. “Our collective goal will be to hit 3,014 or more total members before the end of 2014.” The room humbled with excitement the way marathoners sound on the starting line. “3,014 is an insane number that has never been a goal for any humans in the history of the planet. Plus, we’d like to think that in the year 3014 that they’ll still be talking about NP.”
#Mile14 Takeover
From our favorite hometown 5Ks to the Boston Marathon to The North Face Endurance Challenge Series, November Project tribes from across North America prove all year round we know how to #RACEEVERYTHING. We toe the starting line, proudly show off our #GrassrootsGear, and are probably making friends with the strangers right next to us in the corral. But when that gun goes off, we know that It. Is. Fucking. On. But we also know we have every member of the November Project community with us every step of the way — there to push us to put it all out there on the course and there to celebrate our sweaty successes. Also, good reading material helps get you focused before the race. These two had the right idea last year…
Birthday Yearbook Photos & FINAL 2014 RECRUITING DRIVE FOR 3014
2014 Birthday Yearbook Photos will take place at the workout on Wednesday, November 5th, 2014, in all 16 November Project cities. Will you be there?
Listen up world! We need your help, your butt in action, and your participation. One of our most successful days at November Project this summer in 17 cities was when we snapped our official Yearbook Photos. Once we posted these collections into our respective Facebook albums we essentially had our names-to-faces guide to the tribe. Now, we need to make a huge effort and we need all hands on deck as 2014 comes to a close. But instead of talking about the “close” let’s speak of the “open”…
#RACEDAY (And why the North Face Endurance Challenge in San Francisco should be your next #RACEDAY)
Note from the editor (a.k.a. the dude that’s pushing the post live):
BG and I just got back from the North Face Endurance Challenge in Utah where we watched Hannah Lippe from NP_DEN crush the competition in the women’s 50k race. We also saw Thunder Dan Berteletti finish third in the men’s 50k behind the dudes that make living from running trails. And then, we got humbled by altitude and elevation while the Boston-based duo of Tony and Chris was winning the marathon relay, rocking #GrassrootsGear across their chest. This weekend was amazing! We even have some photos to prove it. But enough about us. Here is Dan Clayton from NP_SFO reminding us that training is fun, but racing… that’s a whole new animal.
#hilloopbridge (MKE)
November Project is taking over the world, one person, one community, one city at a time. It’s more than just a 45 minute workout a few times a week. November Project is a commitment. It’s a detour from the ordinary. It’s workouts jam packed with sweaty hugs, ridiculous exercises and more energy than a coffee convention. November Project has changed my life and the lives of countless others. Coming hot off the #NPSUMMIT, DG and I can’t wait to take NP to new levels here in Milwaukee. Our goal as an entire November Project community is to get 3,014 people at a single workout between all 16 tribes across North America by the end of this year. Why 3,014? Because it’s hard. Because 2,014 is so last week. Because why the hell not? What makes this challenge especially difficult is the changing weather. Summer is hot. Fall is cool. Winter is cold. People don’t like being outside in winter, apparently. Many people will want to hit snooze, cuddle up and go back to bed when 6:30 rolls around and it’s not “partly cloudy with a high of 75.”. But from my experience, November Project members are not your every day, run of the mill human beings. They’re tough. They’re strong. They’re weatherproof. So prove me right and everyone else wrong. Show up when summer turns into fall and fall turns into winter. You’ll be so much stronger because of it.
Setting Goals for World Takeover 3014
Coming off of the 2014 #NPSUMMIT in Madison, Wisconsin, we now have 16 cities all on the same page for our recruiting goal for this year. Before the end of 2014 we’ll have a Wednesday morning where all November Project tribes combined, reach the goal of 3,014 people training for free inside these amazing communities that we’ve started. That’s right, 3,014 people out of there beds training at November Project, one Wednesday, all before the close of the year.
The teacher has been taught – guest post by Dominic
Today’s blog post is brought to you by NP MKE faithful, Dominic Inouye. Dom has been coming to November Project for a few months now and has become a staple at every workout. He brings great energy, infectious enthusiasm and is just a really good dude. Dom is a school teacher and shares with us what November Project has taught him about himself, and his teaching.
For the entire month of July and now into August, I’ve been participating in a free, early morning workout program offered in 17 cities in North America, including my hometown of Milwaukee. It was founded in Boston as a way to get people to exercise during the cold winter months–and exercise they do.
Better Than Bedtime, August 17th, 2014
The time has come to set our clocks, mark our calendars, and tattoo hashtags on our bodies. The summer event that went from Boston in 2012, to San Francisco, Madison, & Boston in 2013, will now include all seventeen cities in the #NP17. Put lay the concept out as simple as possible: All cities will execute a Sunday summer race/run/destination party called #BetterThanBedtime that will lead participants to an unknown location to drink, party, and have an OK time.
All Tribes Lead to Madison, Wisconsin (#ECSWI)
Update: To connect with all the people that are racing in this event check out this group or put your information down in this spreadsheet if you’re looking for a partner to take on the race.
There are certain bands that have giant followings when they go on tour. Phish, Rolling Stone, Dave Matthews Band. They have an almost family quality in their mob that brings people from around the world to gather, camp, party, dance, and love on one another. You’re in the same space and before you even meet that biker with the Aeorosmith cut-off you know that you and she share the same values just because you’ve traveled to this exact place on earth, for this exact experience.
Rain rain come again (MKE)
All across Milwaukee this morning, people woke up, took a peak outside and with one collective sigh, went back to bed. This was not the case for 40 of the craziest, most bad ass people this city has to offer. 6:00 rolled around and they got up and gave up all hope of sanity for the day. They sprinted, kicked and dipped their way through one of our most inspiring workouts to date. They proved that the tribe is rain, wind and negativity proof (all before 7:15).
