Today we’re proud to announce Brooks as the official footwear and apparel sponsor of November Project. Brooks has been woven into the fabric of NP Seattle since the early days. From the CEO down to the newest hires, they celebrate the culture of bettering the world through running and movement. Based on these shared core values, it didn’t take us long to get excited about the potential of our combined reach. The Brooks influence will be multifaceted, including financial support, access to new footwear and apparel, resources for our leadership training and the annual November Project Summit, entries into Brooks-sponsored running events, and activations on a local and global level. We’re ramping up to do some very cool things together and couldn’t be more excited.
Guest Blog by The Ingaborg: “Showing Up”
The ingaborg here, coming in hot with a little life lesson I’ve taken from November Project.
It probably wont surprise you guys that I was the kid who would talk to ANY random stranger. From the guy behind us at the deli counter to the new kid in the back of the room. Some call it middle child syndrome, but my dad always said it was that random, extra chromosome that I was born with.
We Need Your Help (DCA)
We believe barriers to fitness shouldn't exist, one of the reasons we are a free fitness group (no money in, no money out) and our members don't pay any fees. Because of this, we need your help.
Guest Blog w/ Victoria Hernandez: Hell Isn’t for the Weak!
Aug 27th – 31st was Hell Week for November Project Dallas with 50+ people in attendance everyday. The tribe was warned that it wasn’t going to be easy at all, yet they wanted to go through hell. Long time tribe member, Vicftoria Hernandez, shares her experience of the week, plus her gratitude for the tribe:

Exciting New Direction
Over the last six and a half years, the co-founders of November Project, Bojan & Brogan, have been expanding the movement while it continues to grow organically through passionate and dedicated volunteer leadership, weatherproof workouts, and supportive communities, all at the cost of zero dollars. But with expansion comes evolution and November Project is proud to announce the next chapter of the movement, as a nonprofit organization. This year, with the support of everyone in our community, the structure of November Project (NP) will be one that involves more than simply two co-founders.
The goal of NP as a free fitness movement will remain the same. At our future and existing
locations around the world, we will continue to work hard at cultivating a culture of inclusivity, and will never stop proving that fun, fierce, free, and efficient morning workouts have the power to positively change the places we live in. The new arm of the NP nonprofit is one which we are incredibly excited about. We aim to use the spirit of NP to host our first community outreach plan that aims specifically at youth. After all, the NP rulebook for accountability, human connection, intense fitness, and support for all fitness levels could make an even larger impact if we use these tools to train a younger generation, creating healthy habits from an early age.
Financial resources to support the efforts of the NP nonprofit, the ongoing movement, and to keep great humans in the NP family at an organizational level, will come from personal
donations, grants, in-kind donations, and strategic partnerships. One of those partners, The North Face, has been powering November Project movement for the last three years and will continue to support NP at a global level through access to outdoor training gear, storytelling via various media outlets, leadership gatherings, and the annual November Project Summit. NP will pursue other partnership that will broaden the opportunities to bring free fitness to more people, but The North Face will remain the exclusive apparel, footwear, and equipment partner, and just like the last three years in this partnership, will be the reason November Project is able to continue the growth. Details on how you can directly support (aside from just showing up) will be revealed in the weeks to come.
The November Project team and the Board of Directors are ecstatic to progress this movement into the nonprofit space and set even bigger goals to achieve in the years to come. Hold onto your hats, folks, it’s about to get even crazier!
We Woke Up in BEAST MODE!!!
Over the past few months, NP Dallas has been in BEAST MODE! At the beginning of the year, it was declared that in 2018, we will focus on racing and beating our “best self” aka PR (For those of you unfamiliar with that). Tribe members have taken this to heart, and have signed up for various races not only in Texas, but across the US and into Mexico. There are members that are training for their first 5K, first half-marathon, even their first full marathon. They are taking to stadium runs, trails runs, and YOGA… This year the tribe is looking to take close to 30 members to The North Face Endurance Challenge Series in Wisconsin for NP Summit 6. Among them is a lone ranger signed up to do the 50 miler. Why anyone would want to run 50 miles or more is beyond comprehension, yet there are many in this tribe doing it. So, how does this community of badasses prepare for such greatness? They JUST SHOW UP! Check it!

“What’s it like to have 19 people that you met 53 minutes ago sing you “happy birthday”?
Because that’s what my Monday was. I decided to try November Project Dallas, and today was my first workout. As it goes, I wasn’t sure what to expect. All I had was the time, location, and a recommendation from the New York Times to go on. So I rode my bike to the meeting spot and found Tywon, followed soon by Kevin, Hayden and Michelle. In a few minutes, a whole posse of folks arrived. They all seemed pretty stoked to be there even though it was 6AM and we were there to do something called the “stair workout”. Imagine running down 75 stairs, back up 75 stairs, across a short flat surface (somehow called a “break”) then repeat until your legs fall off or 40 minutes pass. Whichever comes first.
Alright, I get it. But what came next was a surprise to me. No sense of being the “new chick”. No “who is this stranger” vibe. Not even a “wonder who’s gonna kick whose booty” sentiment. Just support. And a sense of team. A real we’re-all-doing-this-togther feeling. What an amazing thing?! At one point, I slowed down to a walk, and Yolanda gently hooked her arm through mine. With a soft “you got this,” she picked me back up to a run, and stayed by my side. What a fabulous Day One!
Workout’s over, about to leave, but last thing the co-leader, Manny, asks is “anybody’s birthday?” In all honesty, mine was two days ago. And that’s where 19 people I’ve met 53 minutes ago come in and sing me “happy birthday”.
What’s it like? Let’s just say, I’ll be back later this week for Day Two!” — Jenni Stolarski, Realtor
We Found Some Stairs
ions”, become ironmen and ironwomen, achieve their BQ, run their first half/full marathon, accomplish PRs, and ultimately push their comfort zone and fitness. This has been a point of pride and joy culminating in over 40 tribe members competing during the Dallas Marathon weekend. H&M have taken this growth of the tribe’s racing and competitiveness to heart and looked at how to help y’all in this journey. Our quest to help you achieve your PRs and make you race ready started moving hills from Continental Ave to Kessler Park; which you have all seen the benefits of. We followed that up with a Cotton Bowl workout and several FC Dallas Workouts (the next one is January 20th). These workouts have helped make you stronger mentally and physically, but we still wanted something more consistent.
Through our close work with the City of Dallas Parks and Recreation Board, and thank you all for your help in this process, we have gained consistent access to the Convention Center stairs on 700 South Lamar Street. Workouts here will help prepare you for your next 5k, half or full, Cotton Bowl workout (standby for the announcement), FC Dallas, PR Day, Sunrise 6k (February 16) and life. H&M thought back to their times at Boston and DC/Philly and what made their fellow tribe members so fast: hills and stairs. We have our hills at 1199 Kessler Parkway on Friday and now we have stairs at the Convention Center. We also knew that consistency was key to making the most out of stair workouts, if you do them inconsistently or even skip a week you will be sore causing you to lose a training day. H&M have also heard the tribe’s interest and excitement in stair workouts. Therefore, we knew that we needed the stairs to be a part of the MWF schedule.

We wanted each day to offer something different and unique. Right now, H&M see Monday and Wednesday as very similar offering a HIIT type workout. Based on numerous factors and the desire to have the most value for your workout time Mondays going forward will be at 700 South Lamar Street doing stairs at the Convention Center. This will benefit the tribe in many ways: it will add variety to the workout schedule with a dedicated hard stair day, allow Wednesday to be more focused on HIIT, with Monday at a standard location this will remove the need to determine travel/parking, and most importantly this will help make the tribe faster. This will also put us in line with other November Project tribes and their stair/hill/HIIT workouts. We are aware that the parking around the stairs is only free until 7am; therefore, we will also start the workout at 6 am and end at 6:50am to accommodate this, and get a solid 40+ minutes of work in. As for parking we recommend Lamar, Griffin, Young, or Wood Street; or if you don’t want to street park behind City Hall or Pioneer Park. We are excited about how this addition to the workout schedule which will help everyone’s fitness and speed!! Let’s attack these stairs so we can all PR on our next race, cotton bowl workout, and FC Dallas workout. Can’t wait to see you there, Harrison has a lot of stair workouts he did in college he is excited to share with y’all. Onward!

Much love,

Dallas’ New Groove

You’ve heard it from us a hundred times but here it is officially: Monday yes Monday is the new day. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday will be our new official schedule. Monday: Destination Deck: We will Run, Bike, Ride to the destination for a HIIT style workout within the downtown Dallas area. The main idea is to run or sweat on your way to the destination and already be warm and jump right into the workout. This is also going to require a little research Sunday night to ensure you get to the right place at the right time. Workout location will be announced Friday at hills or Sunday on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter.
Every First Monday of the month will be dedicated to the W Hotel since we love them so so so much. Do you remember the Continental Avenue Pedestrian Bridge? Well it’ scoring back and it’ll be on the Destination Deck Day!!! 6:15am

Wednesday: Winspear Opera House for now. We have big hopes and dreams of the Cotton Bowl and if this actually kicks off, Wednesday will now belong to the Cotton Bowl. Winspear Opera House will now be a Monday thing if Fair Park gives us weekly access to the stadium. 6:15am. To all you unusual 9-5ers this schedule usually works out perfect right, but what about the rest of the world who has to be at work prior to 9, 8, 7am? Well we feel that we’re going to request the gates to the Cotton Bowl to be open by 5:30am. What does this mean for y’all early birds? This means that once the gates open you rise and grind before the 6:15am crew even shows up! (That’s a 45 minute workout before the of the tribe gets to the Cotton Bowl gates for 6:15 workout – hopes and dreams can become reality)

Friday: 1199 Kessler Parkway, Dallas, TX: Hills For Breakfast. Some people have said Circa Cotton Bowl workout this is the hardest workout of their week and we’re happy to have that title. Hill repeats shouldn’t be easy, they should be hard, they should be a rise and grind feeling, but you should also feel welcome, warm, and able. We’re happy to have found our Friday morning home. Kessler park is the small grassy area we park next to. Please park on the park side of the street. Let’s remember that the area we run is not the park, but the neighborhood.
News: Dallas city meeting August 3rd. Can you make it? If not, can you write a letter?
Monday City Hall Park for our first destination deck workout 6:15am.
The Crate Escape Run: Saturday August 5th. All are welcome and no one gets left behind. Meeting spot is The Traveling Man Deep Ellum.
