Would she fit in? Guest blog: D’Ann Shipp

From a classroom, to a marathon cheer station, to a member of the tribe, D’Ann shows up for life, the hugs, and the people!

D’ann attends November Project Dallas during school breaks and holidays

When Manuel asked me to write a blog entry telling my story of how I got involved with November Project Dallas, and what it means to me, my first feeling was total anxiety!  I’m an 8th grade Algebra teacher, and therefore writing is not my strength (give me a math problem any day!)  However, Manny and the tribe have done so much for me, so I wanted to give back. read more

November Project Races The Cotton Bowl

Today was the culmination of months of preparation, community organizing, and tribe dedication as NOVEMBER PROJECT DALLAS. Trending today #NP_Dal hastag for the socials. People attended a workout at Cotton Bowl at 6 am this morning. The energy and atmosphere was amazing! All of these souls came together as a community to share positive energy and get a sweat on. Being the last Wednesday of the month and our first official day in the Cotton Bowl, it was our inaugural stadium PR day (full tour starting at section 36 and going all the way around the stadium back to section 1). The course around the Cotton Bowl is quite varied with some section climbing much higher than others, as well as some sections with bleachers that have backs–moving people to stairs. The stadium is challenging mentally, physically and technically. read more

The Vibe that attracted the Cotton Bowl

SCROLL TO THE COTTON BOWL IF YOU’RE IN A HURRY

THE VIBE The vibe that attracts our tribe. The November Project vibe originates from a couple of dudes who wanted to hold each other accountable, make their community healthy, and spread free fitness to cities far and wide. The Boston tribe was first. Then two more tribes popped up. Then two more. You get the idea. 43 cities later, here we are. And the NP momentum continues—glorious grass roots fitness, free for everyone! read more

FRIDAY PARKING & Transportation Info for Summit 5.0

Q: WHERE DO I PARK? A: OPEN this Google Map

HOW DO I GET TO THE STADIUM? HOW DO I GET AROUND?

If you find yourself asking these questions, let’s thank our local transportation guru Ari Ofsevit for compiling the following info.  Read as much or as little as you want (it gets really fucking detailed down at the bottom, and in the middle, and pretty much everywhere) but definitely read the part about parking for the Friday morning workout at Harvard.  And give yourself LOTS of extra time to get to the stadium.   read more

The Sounds of #NPSUMMIT Weekend

This email serves as a pre-thanks to the two DJ’s who are going to be holding it down for the NPSUMMIT. Number one is local legend Laura Ingles of Boston. Number two is new-kid-on-the-block and Co-Leader of November Project Virginia Beach Barry Clark. Laura will host the rise & shine beatdown inside the Harvard Stadium that will open the weekend early Friday morning and Barry will bring down the house at The Lawn On D Street on Saturday night, which will close the weekend. If you’re thinking, “I don’t know much about all of this that you speak of, this “N..P.. Summit” and I really wish I could click here and find out more details.” I hope that you go back and click there. If you already know what’s up, continue onward/below. read more

November Project Dallas’ First Workout

602 Days, 86 Wednesdays, since the first Wednesday of the first official pledge week on A Tribe Called “We Run Big D” in September of 2015, but on April 19th;  hard work, dedication, community, sweat, and love came through as A Tribe Called “We Run Big D” became November Project Dallas.  As long as 602 days sounds the roots of November Project Dallas date back even further to August 2014, or 980 days, when the group would workout in the afternoon.  This time was a learning experience not just for leadership, but for Dallas.  The leaders learned how to recruit, design intense workouts for a flat city, engage the community, and create the right vibe.  The people of Dallas learned to embrace the weird, love sweaty hugs, what a perfect burpee is, learned that when we say recruit the world we mean the world, realized that #weatherProof applies to tornados as well, and learned that screaming fuck yeah at 6:15 is the best way to start your day.  read more
