An Ode to the Blog (YEG)

ABABCDECDE

Oh Blog you are now live,
I feel today that you will be short,
for you see I need to strive,
to finish my work report.

Oh Blog thank you for recanting the tales of the workout,
your humor and grace is seen by at least 10 people.
Oh Blog statements of today's -30 day were nothing but a fairy-tale

"No badge for you," Mean Jen said with a shout
"No matter," we replied "we'll have fun either way climbing this steep hill"
Oh Blog with a group like this we will always prevail read more

Why This Works pt.2 (YEG)

pt.1: https://november-project.com/why-this-works-pt-1-yeg/

.

Exposure [period]

.

In our survey the vast majority of people told us that they came because of a friend (side note: survey video is still coming). That is how this groups sustains itself. There are ~1.4million people in this city. It’s not going to work for everyone but what may not have worked for someone 5 years ago, may very well now. Recruitment is key. Many have developed life time friends through this group and there is nothing wrong in continuing to grow and develop these circles. However my challenge to you, and this is something I am still practicing, is to break out of your comfort zone. If you have ever found even an iota of fun at one of these workouts, can you share that with someone else? A coworker, that person you just met at a party, random coffee barista etc. read more

Why This Works pt.1 (YEG)

.

Your participation [period]

.

There are a lot of reasons why this may work for you, as the individual, but as a collective it thrives based on its participants. You matter. You are more than a body amongst the masses. Even if you don’t talk with anyone or give out a single high five. You matter – in ways you may not even be aware of. I want you to know that this is a place where you can expand your boundaries but just by showing up, by being present, you provide a space for others to do the same. If you aren’t there then someone notices, even if it’s not verbalized to you, even if you never see that someone notices. read more

Positivity Award – Recipient Blog (YEG)

When the newest recipient of the positivity award wants to share her experience with it and what it means to her – you can’t help but get excited. Take some time today and meet a little bit of Tayllor and catch a glimpse of why we think she deserves to hold that oar handle.

.

I’m honoured to receive the Positivity Award because I wouldn’t say I’m a happy person.

I may fool some of you, but really.

If you take a look over my past, you’d see a bunch of traditionally non-happy things. Like an eating disorder when I was 12 that almost took my life. Or debilitating anxiety and depression—we’re talking the unable-to-leave-my-room kind—that plagued me for years.

‘Twas the Morning Before Christmas… (YEG)

● ‘Twas the morning before Christmas, when all through the plaza
● Everyone was stirring, a workout bonanza
● Your extra warm stockings were put on with care
● In hopes that Nadim and Rob would soon be there
● The rest of the city was nestled all snug in their beds
● While the tribe started to bounce, lifting their heads
● When out on the plaza there soon rose a clatter
● Burpees, supermans, and pushups all intermingled with laughter
● Always repeating the exercises – we’d finished that lap in a flash
● A route so long you’d think it rash

● 30 minutes go by and “That’s Time” is called
● We gathered for a photo, I had never seen a group so enthralled
● Booms were shouted and photos taken
● Finally running off to breakfast to get that bacon read more

What a Morning (YEG)

This morning still feels like a blur. Did I even run hills? Did I give out high fives? Did that announcement really happen?

Simply put: I am honored to be the newest Co-leader for November Project here in Edmonton.

Quick things to mention right off the bat:

No one is leaving; workouts are still free and outdoors; Buffs will still be stuck at the border; we’ll yell Boom for your birthday; and all of the other things, big and small, that make this group amazing are still here. read more
